This review is about the concert venue, NOT the location as a historical site. The Mumford and Sons concert last night was great. The location and their ability to plan and design a venue, not so much. Don’t know if I’ll go to another concert there. Layout sucked, mixing board/tent blocked the middle of the stage unless you were in the 30′ space in front of it, beer/food lines were terrifying, traffic planning and control was non-existent, and the RCMP are basically useless fucking clowns with guns who would rather watch an accident than do their fucking jobs. But, Mumford and Sons were amazing!

What an awesome venue! I ventured down to Niagara-on-the-Lake for the City & Colour concert, not knowing what to expect as I hadn’t really heard anything about this venue previously. To put it simply, the stage was set up in the middle of a GIANT field. Nothing else around it, just field, field, and more field. However, for a concert where there was 17, 000 people in attendance, effectively more than doubling the population of Niagara-on-the-Lake at that given time, this is PERFECT. There was space galore, a few areas with trees for shade, and even standing super far from the stage you are able to see very well. To put it in perspective, there was room not only for all those people, but for a HUGE parking lot(parking was also IN the field), at least 20+ food vendors, and another 20+ assorted other booths set up(merch, radio station events on-site, pepsi taste tests etc.) Even with all that going on, there was still tons of stretches of field that wasn’t even being used. Only downside is that since the venue is in a giant field, it can get very muddy. Since it had been raining in the previous days, some cars got stuck in the mud driving in. Outside of the parking lot, though, the mud wasn’t too bad. That being said, I totally look forward to getting muddy at more concerts here in the future!
