The black lager is surprisingly refreshing. Black as coal but light with notes of nonbitter coffee. Service was great. Oysters and paté were also great. They had live music with no cover charge either. It’s definitely a place worth stopping at.

Stopped in on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. Friendly staff. Black Lager is great. Irish duo played music. Has that old pub vibe.

What a breath of fresh air in such a touristy area. This fantastic brewery is located in an adorable old church a couple miles from the falls. Part of the fun was trying to find it without the GPS of our American phones. The place is perfectly outfitted with church pews and vintage stools. It was quite packed but felt like a great local hangout accompanied by great live music. We had some pâté to hold us over until dinner, and grabbed two black lagers. They came out in a fun tall mug and were so delicious. Everyone in the place wore a thick will sweater or flannel. It was just so completely cozy and comforting. Highly recommend when you just can’t do the amusement park that IS Niagara Falls.

Stopped in for a flight and found it underwhelming. The server was very nice and gave us some suggestions for where to get dinner. We didn’t eat any food there since it was either seafood or bratwurst, pretty expensive. Beer was underwhelming as well. Great idea to repurpose a church but we won’t be coming back.

Thanks to a tip from a writer, had to go check this place out while in the Niagara area. The beautiful building has stain glass, wonderful brick, communal tables, and just a great place to hang out. Love sitting at the bar, see them fill growlers, filling and packing four packs. It’s a great place to talk to the bartender to get tips about the area. I tried the sampler flight, definitely black ale is the best! They also have beer from other breweries, but if you never tried Silversmith it really doesn’t get better than from the source. The food was great too. Pickled watermelon rinds were sold out but they got pickled garlic ramps and asparagus which were delicious. The pâté came with some berries and nuts which really went great with the crostinis. Really wanted to try poboy, but we’ll have to wait for next time. Will definitely come back to this place next time in the area.

You know what we should do today? I think we should ride our bikes around in 90 degree weather and start day drinking around 10am. These were *mostly* the words that came out of my fiancees mouth, and when you’re visiting Niagara-On-The-Lake around Labor Day; well it’s kinda what you do. We knew that we had a bunch of wineries that we wanted to hit up, but also included on our itinerary was the inclusion of two Breweries; one of which I will talk about now. Sweaty, a little bit tired, and very thirsty, we approached the Silversmith Brewery. From the outside, it looks a bit like a place where weapons are made. I would imagine that was the point, as the name implies that Smithing has been done there at one point. When you go in, there are stained glass windows and a peaked ceiling. Scratch the idea of weapon forging, this was a converted church. Wood and iron all over the place, it’s very all very beautiful and medieval looking. We took our seats at the expansive bar and ordered a flights which I will get to in a minute. While the alcohol is on full display, they also had offerings of food that included Brats, wings, Po’ Boys, and pickled watermelon rinds. We didn’t sample any of the food items though, as we had already eaten breakfast. Let’s get to the alcohol though, which we gladly sampled before noon. Bavarian Breakfast Wheat — 5.2% Alcohol by Volume This was my least favorite of the lineup. It had a crisp and refreshing taste, but a little too soft for my tastes. I can understand why they call it a ‘Breakfast wheat’, as I could see this going well with their brats or even a waffle. Hill 145 Golden Ale — 4% ABV They call this beer their ‘patio crusher’ and as soon as you take a sip you’ll know why. The Hill 145 is a PERFECT Summer beer. It’s so light and crisp and perfect for entertaining people on your deck while simmering up some tasty ribs. Really loved this beer. Dam Buster British Pale Ale — 5% ABV The Dam Buster is what I would refer to as a «classic beer.» It’s really good for any occasion and the hints of butterscotch make it smooth and refreshing. It has light hops and really hearkens back to a traditional British Ale. Black Lager — 5% ABV The Black Lager is their flagship beer and I can certainly see why. I’m a fan of dark beers in general so I’ll be a bit more biased, but damn if this isn’t just a fine tasting brew. Not heavy at all with that 5% abv; it goes down smooth and leaves an aftertaste of chocolate and coffee. I had half of the flight and then just went ahead and ordered their special of a pint glass and beer for $ 10 dollars and couldn’t be happier. If you only have time for the one beer when you visit, this is the one you get. Overall, Silversmith was a perfect place to stop and get our day-drink on. The waitstaff was extremely friendly and knowledgeable as we asked them questions about the beers and establishment. If you happen to be in the Ontario area, please take the time to make your way to Silversmith Brewing Company, because you will not be disappointed.

We did the brewery tour and what a fantastic and educational tour– they really know what they’re talking about! Such a great experience and just as we left I got a whiff of the lunch menu and it was divine!

The atmosphere, service, beer, and food were all quite good — particularly on a hot summer day. If I lived in the area, I would be buying and refilling their growlers on a regular basis.

First of all, this place is GORGEOUS inside and out. It’s an old church, so it’s terribly elegant. Even the driveway and parking lot are beautiful. The bartender was adorable and attentive. My husband tried the four beer flight. He didn’t finish it, mostly because we had just stuffed ourselves at The Pie Plate, but we enjoyed our little sit and chat time at this lovely place!

Of all the breweries I’ve ever been to, Silversmith has been the most beautiful and most unique. They’re located in a renovated church and the styling and branding is top notch. Their selection of beers is very limited at 4 options but they are all very good. Pints are $ 6.25($ 5USD) and they do have a small but delicious looking menu. The quality, service, and atmosphere adds up to a great experience. They even have events and live bands here on a regular basis. It would have been nice to have some sort of outdoor space, games, or a larger beer selection but otherwise Silversmith was one of the highlights of our Niagara trip.

The type of place that is so charming that I have difficulty putting my experience into words. So I will keep this short and sweet: The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Looks like a small, old church(but with beer vats!). The service was exceptional with bartenders going out of their way to come out from behind the bar and provide table service. They were passionate and enthusiastic about their beer, and were very happy to provide us with their recommendations. The beer itself is very good with some batches being very unique. Prices are reasonable. Order a flight and try as many as you can! This is a great destination and worth going out of your way if you’re heading to Niagara on the Lake. We will be back.

A great find in Niagara-on-the-Lake. Everything is done in small, well thought out ways. Kitchen is tiny but it serves the offering. Location itself is gorgeous, and why not have a God’s nectar in an old church. Beer is amazing, especially their famous black lager. It begs you to stop and try. Cheers

After almost two days of wine tasting with no beer, I was starting to get a little cross. Speaking of «cross» this brewery happens to be a converted church. The unique interior alone makes this Silversmith worth a visit. Moreover, after spending several days with fanny pack wearing tourists types(near the falls) it was nice to visit a place with a few locals. The beer selection was relatively small, and while I don’t recall one that particularly stood out, they were all pretty decent and reasonably priced. If the large wine mansions are starting to feel a little redundant, go check this eclectic brewery. I’ll spare you another cheesy church joke and call it a review.

Right down the road from Oast is Silversmith! I not Catholic or Christian so I haven’t spent much time in churches, however this place was ADORABLE. From their sign out front, to the architecture inside. It’s hard to see the brewery from the restaurant/drink side. Although it was an add on, it’s lost among all the other details of the establishments. We got a fight of 5 brews for around $ 11 bucks. their brews are more Belgian, while I prefer mine super american and super hoppy. There was a popup restaurant there when we were there and they made a menu just for the brews. The oysters were also local. Great place, great beer. Ps: come early or you won’t get a seat. it’s apparently very busy during food time.

Of the two breweries on this strip, we really enjoyed Silversmith. Converted from a 100+ year old church, it was great to see the original benches being used in the restaurant. Service was a little lack-lustre at first but once we got a server’s attention, he was really helpful in choosing basically every beer they make(hic). Food server of the day was one of my favourites Tide & Vine. A must see.

This place is amazing! They have great beers and an awesome location! The brewery/bar is in an old church. Just enough of the architectural elements of the church have been retained to make it cool. The staff is very friendly. Parking sucks, but the bar has lots of ambiance and the beers are delicious. Abby loved the Oyster Porter and I loved the Irish Red! They are known for their black lager which is a dead ringer for Guinness. Both days we went, Tide and Vine was there serving oysters, fish sandwiches, clams, and chowder. That really took the experience up a notch.
