Looking for renting watercraft near Buffalo on a warm summer day. Couldn’t find anything… then I searched under«Niagara On The Lake» and there it was. The only negative for some people may be crossing the border and going through customs. Trust me it is worth the wait to pass thru the border… you won’t be disappointed. If you are a NEXUS person, you will cruise through the border crossing. Check out to see if the Peace Bridge or Lewiston has the shortest wait time to cross. The mom and son(owners) greeted us, had us sign our paperwork, gave us a free bottle of spring water and use of a true drylock bag. It was so nice to have these small things included in the price. We drove through town and«up» the Niagara River to a boat launch. We completed the 5 mile trip down the lower Niagara River in 2 hours… but we aren’t ones to paddle slowly or just hang out. It was so cool to be a part of the current and to check out the different pleasure boats enjoying the summer day. Of course, we kept clear of the huge hydro-plane tour event, but we did wave at their passengers everytime one of the 3 boats passed by us. This is a must! It was extremely reasonably priced and the owner and her son very down to earth and friendly. I think more Americans staying around the Western New York(WNY) area, such as Grand Island, NY and Buffalo, New York should check them up. Let’s keep them in business so we can enjoy many years to come.

With all the touristy crap in Niagara Falls, my daughters and I needed a change of pace. We needed peace. We needed solitude. We needed a Zen-like experience on the Niagara River to commune with God and nature and take in the sights without noise and others. And we needed some time alone… together. Niagara Kayak Rentals came to the rescue. This little shop is family-run, and they treated our family like their family. They selected kayaks just for us, then equipped us with a storage bag, a waterproof bag for my iPhone, bottles of water, paddles and of course the kayak itself. Then they drove us to a launching point for a nice 5 mile ride(you can make it shorter if you wish) down the Canadian side of the Niagara River. Sitting and paddling in the gorge with the sun shining and birds chirping, fish leaping and nature calling was an experience I will remember forever. The color of the sky, the relaxing state of mind combined with the physical exertion to propel the kayak was all each of us needed. Take my advice. Break away from the herd and head out to the river and let Niagara Kayak Rentals make your journey pleasant, reasonably priced and completely different than anything you are likely to experience anyplace else on this planet.
