Stayed here for our Anniversary trip. Very nice hotel! Soft music playing in our room when we arrived. Bed turned down. Brownie on the desk. Personalized notes. All such nice touches. If we ever come back to Niagara on the Lake we WILL be staying here.

Third time here in a year — June 2014 for my birthday, which my husband told them about upon booking and they left me a cute birthday note and treat in the room on arrival, super nice! Returned a few months later in October 2014 for our Anniversary, and my husband told them what we were celebrating upon booking and they left us a lovely note and bottle of champagne and chocolates in our room when we arrived! They also offered a glass of champagne upon check in. Both times we stayed in rooms that had fireplaces, facing the Shaw festival theatre. So while we were there in October we decided to book in advance for the 2015 Easter weekend. We had specifically asked for the same room. When my husband confirmed the booking earlier last week, they asked if we were celebrating anything. My husband told them it was our babymoon! Being 8 months pregnant I was really looking forward to the nice big suite again (that we booked last October) and was excited to see the cute note they’d leave for us and what kind of treat for the babymoon!
First, upon check in, we were told we’d be in a room that didn’t have a fireplace and then, that the room was smaller and overlooked the back parking lot. They couldn’t move us because the place was sold out! I was so disappointed. I was looking forward to returning here for months and this would be our last little getaway before the baby arrives. The manager, Jennifer, was absolutely amazing though. Wish everyone had that kind of personality! A true gem in the hospitality industry! She offered to move us on the second night, but I was so frustrated (add an 8 month pregnant belly into this and I wasn’t in the greatest of moods) that I just agreed to take the room we were assigned for the entire weekend even though it wasn’t what we booked last October.
My husband and I went to our room (207) and I couldn’t wait to see the babymoon note and treat they’d left for us (I love that kind of stuff). I read the note and noticed it was a standard «welcome to shaw club» note. With a baggie of 4 chocolate pieces that is given to returning guests and a tiny brownie in another baggie. They clearly dropped the ball yet again… I was so disappointed, they forgot about the babymoon package.
Then Jennifer, the manager came to our room and had brought up some items that were normally offered in the babymoon package… My husband and I explained that when he called to confirm earlier in the week he mentioned the babymoon and asked about a babymoon package which they said they’d take care of. (Clearly someone forgot). The only reason Jennifer brought this up to us was to make up for the room error. So I was very thankful for that, (however it should have been there already like my husband requested).
Figured we’d relax a little, went to hang our stuff in the closet (horrible layout, one of those front loading closets, so the hangers kept popping off as you’d hang stuff in the closet), the automatic light in the closet was burnt out so when we left, we had to feel inside all the shelves to make sure we didn’t miss anything, there was only one bathroom hook for our towels as the other one had been removed or broken off and had yet to be replaced, and the tube of lotion they left us in the bathroom was half full (clearly used by the previous guest (s) and the housekeeping staff couldn’t be bothered to leave a new one). We didn’t complain about these other things as the manager had been so nice and I just got to the point that I was so frustrated as it was, why bring up the light, hook and lotion.
Would I stay here again, yes. However this stay just had too many issues come up.
Also, during this stay, as like the other stays, we had breakfast at Zees restaurant onsite. They may have a very short/​simple menu but the food is fresh (locally sourced it seems) and cooked/​flavoured really well. The food and beverage manager was also there and we remembered her from last time, very pleasant lady. Always nice service and good food/​presentation at Zees. Nice to wake up and head down to breakfast before walking around the town.
Looking forward to returning with our baby in the summer. Just hope that when we confirm our booking on the phone, that we are given what we booked/​asked for.

Stayed here on a LivingSocial, Was a great anniversary experience. Stayed in the annex. It looks a bit shotty from the outside, But the rooms are modern and very well appointed. A very great experience, And we’ll be back again for sure.
*Tip-​We were offered a second night for only $ 110 after arrival, So keep that in mind if your booking on an off day or out of the busy season.

WE STAYED IN AN ANNEX ROOM
Service: 5 stars. We felt like employees were genuinely happy to have us there. We never had to wait on anything.
Room itself: 5 stars. Comfy bed. Loved the waterfall shower — best shower I have ever experienced! The room was incredibly clean, especially the bathroom. The in-​room jacuzzi tub looks a little bigger in photos than it was — 2 small people would be comfortable… Anyone tall or larger will feel like a contortionist if sharing the tub. A/​C struggled to keep room cool — humidity was high.
Location and exterior: If you have never been to Niagara-​on-​the-​Lake before, you should know a few things… First, it is beautiful. It is like a storybook come to life. I don’t really love Victorian style architecture, sleepy bed and breakfasts etc … But NOTL was so perfect you couldn’t help but fall for it. That said, there seemed to be one main road through town and The Shaw Club is on one end of that main street. This was not a problem for us but if you have mobility issues you might consider something like the prince of wales which is more in the middle of town. Parking at the hotel is in a back lot and the lot itself could handle some TLC. Filled up quick at night. Overall, I would rate the exterior of the shaw club as one of its worst features… It just wasn’t special. Note: if you are staying in an annex room, you will have STEEP STAIRS to your room. Also, you will enter your room through a door by the back of Zee’s restaurant. So it doesn’t lend to the atmosphere much. Again, when you are in your room it’s wonderful but from the parking lot to your room door is not beautiful.

I’ve been telling stories of how great this adventure was for us. I had won a Life Experiences Shoppers Drug Mart card (valued at $ 279) and had ummed and awed about whether to use in at the Shaw Club. No regrets now! And I’ll go back!
The location was right on the main strip of boutique stores and restaurants, across from the park, and the Shaw Club Theater.
The above card allowed us one night stay with a King Bed in their jacuzzi suite. We brought our own bubble bath and tea lights (too much information?). Those at the main reception were incredibly helpful and friendly, offering us coupons to all the local wineries. They also had a great selection of DVD’s to take to your room and 24-​hour help yourself coffee!
Breakfast was served to our room… and we were overwhelmed with the tray that they brought. Coffee and orange juice, croissants and muffins, cereal, and jam served on a spoon! Fantastic, healthy and delicious!
Lunch was included in the package also; a three course meal for two. We sat on the outdoor patio ZZZ’s (Zee’s). We shared a cheese plate and a lobster poutine… both unique, artistically presented and decidedly delicious. We shared the mains: Zeefood salad and Ricotta Gnocci — both featured diverse and unique flavours and again were presented beautifully. The portions were quite large and we took some home.
But the dessert was insane! Very large portions… it was like having three or four desserts in one! I don’t want to ruin the surprise any further… just go! And when I calculated the overall value of our trip… it was at about $ 500 for the $ 279 card… so when (not if) you go… get a Life Experience package!

Shaw Club Hotel & Spa was a pleasant surprise to check in to. Honestly, I was not expecting such a nice, well-​laid out boutique hotel! The decoration is very modern and classy, the service is great, and it is conveniently located on the main strip.
Walking into the room, we were greeted by a clean, comfortable room. They even welcomed us with baked goods! It was very modern and very well decorated.
The hotel offers wifi and allows you to borrow DVDs out of their collection, free of charge. The complimentary breakfast is also delicious and quite filling. The staff and services were wonderful.
I definitely recommend this hotel.

Very nice, very clean, modern boutique hotel. We probably had the smallest room, but everything was laid out well, which worked well for us. The details were well thought out. The staff was all very polite, prompt, and professional. NOTL is small, so it was walkable to anywhere we needed to go in town. Winery and vineyards are a short drive or bike ride.

My partner and I stayed here over the Easter long weekend. Unfortunately, we booked two weeks ago so only the annex rooms were available (which are far less nice than the other rooms).
The service was 5 star, everyone was very nice and check in was quick. We also were able to park and walk about town before we officially checked in. The location is excellent, in walking distance of everything!
The room was very clean but was a clash of modern vs. contemporary. There was a large jacuzzi that was forest green with gold fixtures. The room was also somewhat worn in the bathroom (the cupboards). For $ 200+ a night I’m looking for more so I think a renovation is in order for the annex rooms.
The continental breakfast is the best I have ever had! So filling, there is no need to upgrade to a hot breakfast for $ 7.50 (which is still extremely reasonable)!
The spa was great because we booked really last minute and we were able to get manicure/​pedicures. The manicure was okay, but my one nail was filed lopsided and there was paint on one of my cuticles and again, when I’m paying about $ 50 I’m looking for perfection. It would also have been nice to have an exfoliation as well.
Next time I’ll try and book ahead so I can stay in the main building, not the annex. The stay was completely pleasant and I will be back!

We stayed here a year ago for our anniversary– it is truly a wonderful little hotel. The staff are extremely nice and the rooms are modern and clean. I like that it is not right on the main drag, so you have some ability to just relax. The amenities in the hotel are top notch. I would recommend anyone thinking of staying at Niagara on the Lake looking up the Shaw Club.

A great boutique hotel at the edge of NOTL, so you’re close to everything but not right in the middle. After staying a couple of tortuous nights on trips past in, ahem, «bed and breakfasts», I was oh-​so-​pleased to stay in this gem of a hotel. Modern décor, delightfully polite and attentive and canadian service.
Rooms with patios/​balconies are smaller than those without, if you’re looking for more space. I stayed in a king w/​a double pull out couch, which only meant that there was a nice sitting area where the couch is. The modern (remodeled) rooms run about CND$ 225, and there is NO 2-​night minimum in the off-​season.
No «Roadhouse» in the DVD library. Quelle horreur!
