Nightmares Fear Factory

This is my first haunted house-​type attraction. It was really creepy. I got scared, but made it through somehow. You should try this place at least once to see what it’s like. I don’t think it’s a good place to go if someone has a weak heart/​medical condition cuz it’s freakin’ scary.

Not for the faint of heart… This was hands down the best haunted house I’ve ever been to. There’s a part where the walls little close in on your and sort of squeeze you (doesn’t hurt), really freaky.

Be afraid — be very afraid!
There are a few haunted houses on the strip, but Fear Factory is rumored to be the scariest! You are able to use the safe word «Nightmares» if you get too scared!
I’ll admit, I’m a chicken and I was terrified!
I wouldn’t want to be here without someone by my side.
As we made our way through the building, I opened my eyes to follow the red dots that guide you through the course.
Expect:
— Creepy people following you and grabbing at you
— Walls closing in on you (not for the claustrophobic)
— Bright lights and loud heart-​attack-​inducing noises
— Moving floors
— Mild electric shocks
It’s a fun place to visit if you want a chuckle and a scare. The photos they take of you are great! :D

So niagara has a few of these haunted house things and they are good, but they are all the same and tourists just flick to all of them. Not bad, not my thing, sort of a waste of money like a lot of the area.

This was fun! As we love haunted houses. It did not make me cry or have nightmares, although was something different to do and I have to admit, I did scream a couple times.

Scary! So… Therefore success! You enter into darkness and follow a red light while people and noises jump out at you. Job well done as I was very scared. My only complaint is that the people scaring you will also touch you. I didn’t mind so much when they grabbed my ankle, although that was terrifying. But I didn’t like it when I guy in a scary mask followed us and then pushed me in the face with his sweaty hands. Some things should be off limits. The worst is when you think you are done but then you realize you have to keep going! There were a few parts where the lights don’t continue because they are holding you in that spot for something scary: I hated the wait. Overall
It was fun and i would recommend it.

Mentally scarring for life, but that’s the point! We were scared from the second we walked in to the seconds we walked out. Yes we survived! It’s a blast, no spoilers in this review. This kind of haunt I feel shouldn’t have anyone under the age of 15 admitted. It’s very creepy and everyone who put on this attraction put a lot of effort into the timing, noises, and sights you will see. Enjoy and don’t chicken out, its worth it to make it through to the end. I will only say one thing healthwise just as a warning to those folks with these issues. If you are overly chlostrophobic, have panic attacks, a heart condition, pregnant, or a bad back, I wouldn’t come here.

I took the tour by myself. First you are told to wait for «the green light». You enter a hallway and everything is pitch black but You are expected to follow the tiny red lights, which could be a bit confusing. The overall experience was good, but keep in mind you will be kept in the dark for the entire tour. I love creepy stuff and to me it wasn’t that scary but they had a bunch of surprises so that kept me on my toes.

I actually enjoyed myself with the whole thing about being scared! Went in with some friends and I was on the edge every step of the way. My only complaint is with Mr. Lack of Personality aka Muscle man at the register! I was so taken aback by his rude behavior towards us! He seemed annoyed the moment we walked in! He never uttered a word, didn’t greet us, and barely acknowledged our existence in the place! Asking him a question was like pulling teeth! We handed him our payment and he flung the admission ticket at us instead of handing it to us. All I kept saying to myself is this dude is in the wrong business! This is a tourist area and this is a tourist attraction! WTF is your problem?! I hope the owner/​owners read this and fire him! This guy has poor people skills!
And btw, we visited the place again with a different group because we wanted them to have the scare treatment, and hopefully not the rude treatment! Yup, they received the scare treatment and the rude treatment as well! I will give kudos to the tall dude handling the souvenir part of the place, he was very personable and friendly!

I’d like to preface this review by saying that I love haunted houses! I’ve been in my fair share that haven’t been overly scary, but I appreciate them for their creativity and the fun factor. Nightmares Fear Factory only elicited one response from me: BOREDOM!
I was in Niagara Falls with some friends for a bachelor party and we thought this would be a lot of fun. The advertisement outside said over 80,000 people had chickened out. This number was corrected to be over 130,000 people by one of the employees. We were even more excited to hear that so many people found it scary. Upon walking into the main lobby, it’s a pretty commercial place that spent more effort on getting you to buy their merchandise than they did decorating. I figured they tried to make it «friendlier» to attract more people.
The guys told us to hang on to one another as we went through and then sent us into the door. For the next 4 – 5 minutes, we followed little red dots on a wall and listened to dome bang on a wall, blow air on us, and occasionally grab at our feet. A door opened and we were in a lit stairwell. My first thought was, «That’s it!!!» We walked down the steps and back into another darkened hallway. I thought to myself, «Ok, that must have been the warm up for what’s to come.» Unfortunately, nothing else happened.
The whole «haunted house» took us just under 10 minutes and there were only two real gimmicks they used to try and scare us. One is a room where they lock you in the dark and then inflate the walls so they push on you. If you’re claustrophobic, I can see how this part would freak you out, but it’s pretty much like having a semi-​inflated air mattress push against you. The only other «event» to happen must be their trademark because that’s where they take all the photos. As you’re walking along, there’s a loud sound of a horn and then headlights start coming at you. Shortly after, you walk through a door and into the lobby. Similar to a roller coaster at any amusement park, you can purchase your candid photos for a ridiculous price. Our photos showed two of us looking bored, one guy looking skeptical, and another guy laughing.
I truly wanted to enjoy this! I wanted to be scared and walk out of there with my heart thumping in my chest! I would have been happy with friends making fun of me for jumping or yelling, but none of that happened. I paid money to walk through some dark halls and see headlights. Save your money for something else.

First time I conquered my fears since visiting as a child. Had to redeem myself. Left the place crying as a child, but not this time! Couldn’t get me this time creepers. Great place to go, probably best in Clifton hill area.

I opened the door immediately closed it and asked for a refund but nope. the ticket counter guy was pretty rude… I got a voucher went back 10 min later and lasted about 3 min. The creepy voice and darkness freaked me out, plus my husband lost his shoe and I became paranoid. Something touched my leg while there was loud barking too, I didn’t like. Biggest waste of $ 30 :(I should have known better…

3 ½ stars is way too low. I have been to this place twice, 10 years apart. The first time was the first time a haunted house actually made by heart beat fast. I have been to many haunted houses since then and never had the adrenaline rush that this haunted house gave me. When I went back there this year I wasn’t disappointed. My only problem is that my wife’s head was so deep in my back that I couldn’t move at times. Talk about a ball and chain. This is the best haunted house I have been to ever. I do not understand why more haunted houses do not use this place as a model.

It was a fun experienced. The guys voice is pretty creepy. It’s super dark! Is it nightmare scary for an adult… no because your aware that it’s not real. For a kid or a teen I mean I would have probably been scared as a kid probably had nightmares.
I recommend it, it’s about 10 minutes long but $ 30 (for 2 ppl) no refunds. If you don’t like the dark please don’t do it.
I did get freaked out a couple of times bec of the guys voice and how dark it was.

Waiting in line is scary enough! Lots of bumps, screams and spook filled moments in this haunted house. They play off many types of fears and likely yours will be covered. Go and you will have your adrenaline pumping!

«Where the f#%k are you guys?!» I said nervously as I grasped blindly in the darkness.
«Ovvvveeeeeeerrr hhhhhhhhhheeeearrrr…» A foreboding voice swims through the darkness and enters through my external auditory canal and begins to attack my autonomic nervous system. All systems are engaged and my flight-​or-​flight response system takes hold. My pupils dilate and I’m officially scared s#%tless.
Okay, so it’s been some time since Nightmares Fear Factory and I have danced with the devil in the pale moonlight. (1989 Batman reference) We danced, we screamed and I was outta, outta, outta there like a bat outta hell. The days that followed had me practicing my diaphragmatic breathing in dark places. Every loud sound had me dashing for the exit sign as if Death were opening the door to my coffin. My brush with death (based on my suspension of disbelief) left me jumpy for a week.
I went in only knowing the number of chickens that flew the coop before submitting to their cowardice. Those who forge their way through the darkness without clues are more likely to scream a little louder at the clicks, pops and booms. I screamed, I cowered, I ate the floor and I prayed for daylight. Although I kept reminding myself that this was not real, my brain kept telling me otherwise.
Verdict: Will I be back? No. Why? Because whose a coward? This guy.

Ever wondered if you can survive a haunted house walk with someone or on your own. I’ll give you a guide of how my gf and I did during our trip to Niagara Falls.
Voted as one of the best place to get the gibbies, we wanted to test our courage.
We walked in, looked at the board of over 100K ppl that chickened out since they’ve been operating. We looked at the ones that made it that day…5ppl! We go in, purchase two tickets for a whopping $ 30!!! So the person tells us if we are scared to yell ‘Nightmares’ and someone will guide us out. He informed us when we ready to walk through and go up-​stairs. We go up holding hands… The anticipation and all the creepy thoughts are there as we come to the door awaiting to open… Thump thump our hearts with maybe nervousness or excitement… Hands sweaty! Not sure mine or gf, we exhaled and entered the dark room.
The door closes, we can start to hear a guy’s voice behind with the creepy sounds. Didn’t know where to go, so he mentioned follow the red lights in a creepy manner, so we did. My gf and I just kept talking to each other through this dark journey. I was trying to focus on the red light, where my gf was holding my hands firm behind me. I told her to walk in front of me as a joke, but she refused. Haha
We continued walking and the guy made continuous creepy sounds to loud screams. Each area we passed through it seemed like he was trailing behind us. We come across this bridge and we were walking in the middle and the guy was jumping and shaking the bridge, but we were fine. There’s was a point where we heard chainsaw sounds on the bottom of our foot, and I literally bent down and looked at the person performing the prop. He looked at me and ran off. Haha
We also had long thick noodles drop on our head, and my gf said she felt something grab her leg and I felt something grab my shoulder. I mentioned this to my gf as we were laughing together about it.
We come across where there’s a car about to run you over with loud horn sounds, and that’s where you get one photo taken of your scare. We just looked and had this face –_​– while it happened. Then we got stuck at one spot where we couldn’t move, b/​c we were trapped and shower drapers were closing in on us and we couldn’t move, during which I was informing I heard of this to my gf and we were stuck, so we just shared a much needed kiss! Once the drapers deflated, we walked through to more darkness and red light searching until the guy pops out shooting us with empty paintball gun and we looked at him and smiled as we were leaving.
We felt ripped off b/​c this place is not scary at all. We felt that it was prob one guy in there doing the whole gig himself. At the end, we looked at our photos and it wasn’t the ‘scared shitless’ like what you see on the website. We were smiling all the way. I give props that the guys voice is quite loud and powerful, but in no way is it a haunted house, but a dark maze walkover. I feel I could do a haunted house better than what is offered here for the price we paid
Price for $ 30 two ppl gets you two tickets indicating you ‘survived’. We survived from the non-​scary elements of darkness and sheer boredom…

It’s not a typical haunted house where you actually SEE anything. The whole thing relies on your fear of the dark. Once you enter, you have to follow a little red light to make your way through. You won’t see any light again until you leave. Again, the ENTIRE WALK THROUGH IS IN THE DARK.
It just didn’t work for me or my wife.

I enjoyed this haunted house. The first time I did it was over 15 years ago or so.
This is scary but not in a sense where things are creepy and look scary as hell but that like someone else mentioned, you are literally walking in the dark following red lights to know where the doors are. There are no props or décor. It is literally dark as hell and you are feeling your way around to find your way out. Of course, this naturally will make you jumpy and react a certain way. For me, this made me jittery and paranoid that something would jump out. And even though you KNOW something is going to come out, you are still screaming when something finally comes out and reaches for you.
It’s fun and it will always make you jump. Doesn’t matter how many times you’ve been through it, each time is different and each time you will freak out.
But if you are one who likes seeing scary décor or masks and faces, this isn’t the place for you. This is literally IN THE DARK.

I’ve been through this place 3 times and I still end up in a cold sweat by the end. I last visited with my boyfriend and actually had to ply him with drinks to get him to even consider stepping foot into Nightmares. It is very dark, so part of the fear comes from being disoriented, but there’s more to it than that. There are workers hidden in the dark, and they use the darkness to their advantage– reaching out and grabbing passersby, breathing into your ears and generally creating a terrifying atmosphere. Don’t go alone, and do yourself a favor and pony-​up for the photo after you’re through; the absolute terror on your face will provide your friends with hours of entertainment.
