Niagara Skywheel

My girlfriend really wanted to go this and I’m really afraid of heights but I wanted to do something she wanted being that it’s usually what I want. So we went on it. I was so scared !!! But wow what a sight! It was worth the fear. I did close my eyes each time we started going back down lol made me feel safer. But overall I did enjoy it. And it made her happy so I’m happy.

Awesome view. Rode this at night and could see the whole city lit up as well as the falls. 24 bucks Canadian for 2 people to ride was well worth it. The ride lasts about 12 minutes and varies between rotating and stopping. The car we were in was clean and comfortable.

Came on a crisp night and was pleasantly surprised. The wheel is so elegant and large not to mention spacious inside. The carts are heated and play music. This is a great way to see the falls just check the times for the falls before you ride the lights shut off a fews minutes after we got on. The guy running the wheel was so kind and friendly. Great experience.

Really nice views of the city and falls as you ride the ferris wheel. Climate controlled boxes, only wish the angle was a little better for viewing.

You must do the skywheel even if you are not a fan of ferris wheels. The reason you must do this is you can get an incredible view of the niagara falls, the mini golf course with dinosaurs, the volcano (fake eruption), as well as the entire clifton hills area! Enjoy and take some pictures up there too! Ride takes about 10 – 12 minutes and you won’t be forced to get on with other people just you/​your party of people. I think 6 is the max # of people who can go in one car.

I definitely recommend this! As of August 2015 tickets for just the skywheel were $ 11/​per person. Only takes about 8 – 10 minutes and you go around 3 times. Towards the very top it’s gets a little wobbly, but that’s expected and the view makes up for it. Next time I would like to try it at night!

The wheel has temperature controlled cars, which was perfect for our March trip to the frozen falls. Nice view of the falls. I would recommend if it’s your first time. Otherwise, nothing new to see really.

$ 11 ride for 5 – 6 spins during the late afternoon, which was definitely worth the money, especially since we got our own private pod which was air-​conditioned. There were short to no lines, probably because the view was only amazing for the first 30 seconds. Then it was just talking amongst ourselves in our private pod (which was actually relaxing), watching families play mini golf below in the Dinosaur-​themed course, and having water drip on us from the air conditioning condensation. Maybe the view would have been better during the nighttime when the Falls are illuminated.

42 cars. Each seats 6 comfortably. Really awesome view of the Falls and a smooth quiet ride. Cars are climate controlled and wholly enclosed.
One rotation to load up and then three sublime, uninterrupted rotations to relax and take in the sights — we loved the Skywheel — Highly recommend!

What you see is what you get. I came on a Monday night in October. No lines and clear view of niagara. Was a nice treat for the wife. Happy I did it but wouldn’t do it again.

This is the one «touristy» thing we did on the Canada side of Niagara Falls.
It’s a bit pricey at $ 10.99/adult for 4 times around on the big wheel (look for a $ 1 coupon in those touristy brochures they have at every hotel), but in my opinion, it was worth it.
We went on the wheel at night to see the Falls all lit up. We didn’t get the clearest view, because it started raining while we were inside. It was great that the pods are temperature controlled and full enclosed, so we didn’t get rained on. There was also no wait when we went, and because it wasn’t busy, we took a few extra loops on the wheel.
Kind of romantic, not too cheesy, and fun.

We were able to go on the Skywheel twice because of the Clifton Hill Fun Pass! If you don’t plan on getting the Fun Pass you can always look for the $ 1 off coupon in one of those Niagara coupon booklets.
We rode the Skywheel during the day and evening (on separate days) to compare the differences. See below for the pros and cons for both.
Pros of riding during the day:
— Shorter lineups
— Better visibility of the falls
Cons of riding during the day:
— Not as romantic
— You realize that there isn’t much to see up high
Pros of riding during the evening:
— Fireworks! We were lucky enough to see the fireworks while in the gondola.
— Nice lights make it romantic
Cons of riding during the evening:
— Longgg lineups
— Can’t really see the falls
They also provide a short commentary where they pinpoint what to look at when you’re riding.

I’m not a fan of amusement parks. I went on a Ferris Wheel once, and I hated it. At a carnival, they seated myself and another person on one side of a double-​sided seat, so I felt like I was going to plunge backward to my death the entire ride. Never again, I swore.
But then I saw the Skywheel in the distance. The Skywheel is SO much better than a Ferris Wheel, because:
1. The seats are in small «pods,» which are:
1a. Enclosed
1b. air-​conditioned
1c. secured to the wheel — no wobbling!
2. The employees will not cram you in with another group. Each pod fits about 4 people (maybe more with small children), but if you have a group of two, you get a pod to yourself.
At $ 10 a ride, it was totally worth the surprised look on my husband’s face when I asked, «Hey, you want to go on the Skywheel?»
I found a coupon in a tourist booklet at the casino for $ 1 off each ride. Keep an eye out for these booklets at hotels and other touristy locations. Each ride lasted several minutes, or about three full rotations.
While riding the Skywheel, you’ll also get a nice view of the falls and the dinosaur mini-​golf. For photo freaks, take a walk down Clifton Hill at night to see the Skywheel all in lights.
The Skywheel is one the of the best (if not one of the only) attractions for adults in Clifton Hill, aside from the falls, so be sure to take a ride.

It was a nice experience. The sky wheel went around about 4 times you pay about $ 10. It’s very big you get an amazing view of the falls and the city.

The wheel is located in the middle of Clifton hill beside the Dinosaurs, make sure you get the map from the hotel or somewhere, not much but there is a coupon of a dollar off… at least it gives you the awesome feeling of saving something on the trip! lol
If you been on The London Eye this does not come close but this is the best we have in the area. The wheel is quite slow, which it should be; but it does give you a full view of the falls, Dinosaurs and the surroundings from the top.

Not the best view of the falls… everyone knows that can be found down in the gorge underneath the power of the Niagara. however, if you are interested in a great aerial view, with a splash of romance, this is the way to go. Centrally located amongst many of the other attractions on the Canadian side, and not cost prohibitive. Nice long ride. We took in the nighttime view which was beautiful, and I would certainly recommend.

Got 2 tickets to the Skywheel by purchasing the Clifton Hill attraction pass online! This wheel has climate control! How cool is that? You can control the fan, the light, and if you want silence, you can mute the radio/​music. I have a fear of heights, and at first I was freaking out, but the ride is very steady and I have never felt safer in a ferris wheel than this one.
Beautiful view at night, and you get to see the entire Dinosaur mini golf area down below. It really is a great view and I loved every second of being on this ride.

Turns out I live 90 minutes away from mini Las Vegas. How I’ve avoided this so long, I’m not sure. I mean, I’d hit the falls, but never Clifton Hill.
Over breakfast in the city, my Skywheel Mate and I made an impromptu decision to go to Niagara Falls for the day. This day quickly turned into an overnight, which quickly turned into hundreds and hundreds of dollars. Anyway, this warning likely doesn’t come as a surprise. Bright lights and grown up amusement parks really aren’t my bag, but everyone should check this place out once.
The Skywheel is an ideal way to check out both the falls and Clifton Hill. It’s $ 10 for the 10 minute ride and the views are spectacular. The pods are small enough that you don’t ride with strangers and every angle has a great photo op. Waterfalls not your thing? What about a two story dinosaur ruling over a put-​put. See? Something for everyone!
PEPPER PRIDE: I am quite nervous with heights but this pod-​style car made it OK. I didn’t whimper or wince at all. I’m so brave.

This was one of attractions I most wanted to experience and I did! :-) I normally HATE Ferris Wheels, especially the ones that only hold you by the bar. Luckily this is an enclosed Ferris wheel, that completely eased my fears!
The Story: I’ve always been ridiculously thin and had this odd fear that I would slip through the bar and fall to my death, especially when my sister’s overweight ex-​boyfriend leaned over in one with me in it to wave at her below, I lost my marbles and screamed at him, encouraging the Ferris Wheel operator to continue our hellish ride –_​–
Bad experiences aside, this was enjoyable… No, MORE than enjoyable!
We got in line 15, maybe 20 minutes before the fireworks, this was completely unplanned because we actually forgot about the fireworks but we got in our cabin as the fireworks started, talk about perfect timing!!! :-) It was amazing to see the falls and the fireworks aboved them from such a high vantage point.

I am really into Ferris/​Observation Wheels. not actually riding in one. but they just looks so good in my photos… I just love taking photos of them!
Niagara Skywheel is Canad’s Largest observation wheel. For $ 10+HST you can go on for a 10 minute or so ride and look at Niagara Falls in a different perspectives.
The Skywheel also is a great backdrop for the other amusement park like activities in the Clifton Hill area.
