Rewsters Restaurant

Love this place. The service was good. We had chicken wings which were hot and crispy like I asked for. We also ordered Caesar salad, it was so very delicious, wasn’t even soggy was very crisp and yummy. Been here a couple times and will be back again.

If you happen to be in Nanaimo, you should check this place out. The food is amazing and so are the staff. It is in a great location in Nanaimo, funky, in a good way.

Wir waren an Thanksgiving im Rewsters. Das wird in Kanada ja ein bisschen früher gefeiert als in den USA ansonsten ist aber vieles gleich!
Das Rewsters bot so auch ein passendes Menü an: Truthahn, Kürbis, Kürbissauce, Cranberrys, einer fantastischen Füllung und Gemüse dabei!
Es war wirklich sehr lecker! Das beste Essen bislang während unseres Kanada-​Urlaubs.
Diese Füllung…ein Traum!
Das alles für 20 Dollar plus tax — absolut angemessen!
Bedienung ist äußerst freundlich, aufmerksam und herzlich.

The Best Calamari I have ever eaten, loved the Martini custom made. Service was great, friendly, informative

Had dinner at 6:30pm on a Saturday and the place wasn’t too busy; however, was told there would be a large party in the back room but even by 7:30pm it wasn’t that busy… not sure why as I enjoyed my meal but seems to be some inconsistent reviews here. My companion and I ordered 2 appies, 1 salad, and an entrée for sharing. Lots of food for 2 ppl. The wings were juicy and crispy. The calamari was well seasoned and really tender. The spinach salad was colorful, hearty and packed with texture and flavour (goat cheese, beets, nuts, berries). The mussels had a good broth (hard not to make a good broth with mussels) but I found them a bit small and perhaps a tad overcooked. They have a decent size drink menu but my piña colada came in a martini glass so for $ 8.50, that was wayyy overpriced. At best, a martini glass holds about 5oz. The service was good, lots more servers than occupied tables. I’d come back for the food, not the drinks.

Someone please tell me why Rewsters is rated four stars, it is a 3 star restaurant at best. Our server was sweet and awesome, but honestly the food is nothing spectacular. I had the fish tacos (2 tacos with a side of salad or house made kettle chips). The best part about this dish were the kettle chips. They don’t have an extensive menu, and it mostly consists of basic food and asian-​fusion items. I sat on the patio which was nice, but the interior is dark and ‘cold’.

Had family dinner here on Sunday. Overall I thought the food was really good and very reasonably priced. The waiter was very friendly and helpful. There was a large group ahead of us. The waiter brought us some kettle chips and said our food might be a little slow. The food ended up coming quickly and was hot and delicious. I ordered kettle chips as a side with my meal and after receiving the complimentary chips the waiter asked if I would like to change my side. I thought this was very nice of him to notice this. The only down side I found was the mens washroom. The urinal and toilet are jammed in a corner together. If there were two people using them at the same time, there would be a problem. Will definitely be back. A note for parents… before 6 is half off appies. There are chicken strips with fries on the appy menu, perfect for kids.

Celebrating at Rewster’s, only place open late in nanaimo! Great service, wonderful food. Gives off a great vibe and a cool place to eat with a large group. Yuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm!!!

I had fish tacos w a side pad thai salad. It was inedible. So disgusting. Had to be sent back. After waiting for 20 mins for the server to check on us. Fish was chewy and oily and tasted like it was past it’s best before date. It had a mango salsa on it that was way too sweet so the combination of old fishy taste and sweet mango was awful. My sister is a chef and she tasted it too and said it was not edible. The «pad thai salad» was a tiny scoop of rice noodles with some cucumber and lettuce on it. 3 cashews yes I counted. Dressing was also awful tasted like spicy peanut soap.
The server was not attentive at all. She also forgot to put our order in for about 30 mins and did apologize for that and didn’t charge for the awful food. But it was still a very poor experience.
My sisters meal was ok. Burger and fries so it’s pretty hard to screw that up but the fries were overdone and dry. Burger was ok.
So overall I sat there for about 1.5 hours and left hungry. Nope. No stars for you. .
I may try this place again but only if I am brought here by friends or something as I’ve got no desire to go back of my own accord. Really unfortunate as it’s a nice location and open late.

Very nice waitress… tacos sat in the window for 5 minutes. Bartender could have helped while she waited on another party (not her fault), but didn’t. Result … Cold fish tacos. Going elsewhere tomorrow.

First time at rewsters, had the beef burrito with kettle chips. Was pretty standard fare but for the price I can’t complain. Atmosphere and service were excellent, and the late night hours are great! Would recommend for late night good and drinks.

My girlfriend and I thought we would be going out for a nice dinner at a new restaurant in town. NOT! You want a real review from a real customer other than clients of Real Estate Webmasters? This is it.
I’m what some may call a ‘foodie’ and the food was absolutely boring and bland. Their ‘deconstructed’ version of a Philly cheesesteak was an absolute mess. It actually looked like a dog’s breakfast on a plate. Their Asian bowl had too many things in it that you didn’t even know what you were eating.
To top off our dining experience they had UFC 999 999 on three big screens above the bar. That’s exactly what I wanna see when I go out for dinner with my girl. NOT!
If I wanted to watch UFC 999 999 I’d go to a pub or a sausage party.
This was our first and last time at Rewsters.
Hopefully other Unilocal reviews aren’t just from clients.

I have heard good things about this restaurant but unfortunately, things did not live up to all the hype… They are trying hard, great atmosphere, good-​looking wait staff, but the food is lack luster in my opinion. We ordered the calamari and Caesar salad for appy’s. Salad was really salty and calamari looked like it had bee deep-​fried in old oil (I’ve worked in many restaurants…). We order two steaks medium-​rare and they both came medium and meat was a bit tough. The server was nice enough to offer to get us new steaks but by that time we just wanted to eat so we ate our steaks. I think this would be an OK place for drinks and appy’s but I’ll pass on dinner next time…

I’ve been staying at a nearby hotel this week on business, and have eaten at Rewsters several times. The food quality has been outstanding! So much so, that I’ve made an effort to compliment the servers on each visit.
For lunch I’ve had soup and sandwiches which were exceptionally tasty and well presented. Actually… I’ve never eaten soup packed with so much flavor! Had an omelette with hash browns for breakfast… Again, superb. For dinner, had the blackened chicken sandwich… Again, flawless.
And for dessert lovers? The Nanaimo Bites are seriously worth a visit on their own… and a work of art!

OK let’s see how their breakfast is. They just started doing breakfast. OK it is… Not to bad. The bacon and eggs were good eggs cooked just right bacon crisp. Also eggs Benny. Eggs done perfect it was on a crab cake and baget and a dill sauce.

Atmosphere was good, place was full of people having a good time. Our service was decent but not amazing, new server was backed up by the hostess who was very attentive. Had the calamari and a steak. Calamari was good but they could loose the salad underneath, my steak was cooked to perfection lots of good flavor and the sauce that came with it was very tasty. I would definitely come back. Good times.

Just ate there on a business trip to Nanaimo. Ate there 3 times actually while I was in town. Once I find a good place I tend to stick with it.
Two must try things on the menu. The beef and broccoli noodle bowl was great. And for a treat try the Aliyah’s surprise dessert. Nothing short of awesomeness.
Staff was friendly. The chef even came out and greeted us.
Also among their desserts try the Nanaimo bar. (There are a lot of Nanaimo bars and their equivalents served in town, but this one ROCKS).
The environment is laid back casual but the food says upscale and fit for a lot bigger city than this quaint little town. Good stuff!

Amazingly good food options. Presentation is imaginative and finishes not detracts from the meal. Ambiance is upscale modern with exciting art choices. I would highly recommend adding Rewsters to your regular dining options in Nanaimo.

I had the pleasure of eating at REWSters two days in a row this past week. Firstly, the staff was awesome. They were always friendly, smiling and knowledgeable about the food choices. The menu had something for pretty much everyone. I particularly enjoyed the calamari. It was perfect. Everything I had for both meals was amazing
If you are looking for a great meal in a cool environment, REWSters is the place to go. Enjoy!

This is a big city flavor in a small and picturesque town. My husband and I ate at Rewsters (I Know what’s up with the name eh?) It is next door to and owned by a real estate website company called Real Estate Webmasters aka REW… anyway, we had the pleasure of having several meals at this establishment a few days ago and we were blown away with the high quality food.
I am what some may call a «foodie» although my husband just thinks I’m and expensive date :-) I was beyond impressed with the food. I have never had calamari that was so lightly breaded and tender as theirs and their Pad Thai was an amazing deconstructed interpretation of the original thing. Somehow they managed to make a normally heavy dish into a light, bright, and amazing noodle salad. Their butternut squash soup was different than any other that I have ever had and it had a gentle curry flavor to it… it was simply delicious. I had my first ever «Nanaimo Bite» dessert and I am hooked! That was such an amazing dessert and apparently it is also a sophisticated deconstructed version of the traditional thing (according to my Canadian dining partners).
The staff was so awesome and attentive. They really seemed to like their jobs and worked swiftly. The bartender was so efficient I was shocked at how fast our drinks would come after we ordered them!
I felt as if I was dining in Vancouver, San Francisco, or in the Napa Wine Country with the sophisticated flavors that were served here. I would absolutely come here again, and again, and again… if only it were not for the pesky long plane ride thing :-)
My only suggestion is that they add the very famous
HUGE mussels, that the region is known for, to their menu. I think they could do some pretty amazing things with them and make them a very popular staple item that their guests keep coming back for.
