History

Established in 2003.

Pirate Chips first opened in 2003 as an attempt to revitalize the downtown of Nanaimo. We used to cater to the after bar crowd until 3am. In June of 2014 it moved to a much larger location with full services such as a patio, tables and chairs, washrooms, air conditioning and heating! Salads and burgers are also on the menu now and a liquor license. Now we close at 10 during the week and midnight on fri/sat.

Meet the Business Owner

Angela N.

Business Owner

Angela grew up in Nanaimo with her Dad who owns Superette Foods, one of the last running corner stores with a butcher shop in the back. She travelled throughout Europe and other countries in her 20’s and settled back in Nanaimo in her late 20’s to open her own shop, Pirate Chips. She remembers a time when Black Frank the Mayor made the city a fun city to live in as Frank was the inventor of the famous Bathtub races. Since opening over 10years ago Angela has been married and currently has two daughters, Maxine (2010) and Sailor (2014). In june of 2014 she moved the business to its larger location at 75 Front st.
