History

Established in 2004.

Gary started working with Coast Realty Group in December 2004 in the then recently-​opened Downtown Nanaimo Office. Coast Realty Group is an independently owned and operated real estate company serving Vancouver Island (north of Victoria) and the Sunshine Coast. It began as the vision of six Nanaimo Realtors in 1984, and has grown to have 12 offices from Ladysmith in the south to Campbell River in the north and from Ucluelet on the West Coast to Powell River on the Sunshine Coast. Gary identifies strongly with the Coast motto. People. Above All. Toni had worked occasionally with Gary through those six years, as part-​time assistant/​stager/​social convener. She obtained her license in December 2010 to work with Gary to provide even better service and broader expertise to their clients.

Gary and Toni moved to Nanaimo from Ottawa, Ontario in 2003. They came here looking for a healthier lifestyle. They have never regretted the move (except perhaps momentarily when it comes time to pay for a flight back East to visit family). Gary worked in construction before training and undertaking a career as a paramedic. A back injury sent him back to university to retrain as a teacher. Toni worked in education, for many years as a resource teacher. This job required her to assess individual’s needs, and co-​ordinate, design and deliver programs with experts from related fields. They come to real estate not from a background of selling, but from a background where doing the best job meant bringing about the best outcome for each individual, and every job was unique. They are highly skilled with People, Problem-​solving, and Paperwork — all necessary in real estate. Their goal in their work is not to be top producers, but to have happy, satisfied clients — and often, new friends.
