Had it not been for the fact that I found the most beautiful dress here, I’d give them one star. Let’s start from the beginning. Last summer, we started planning our wedding. Naturally, along with this came a desire to lose some weight, and to fit beautifully into the imaginary dress I had in mind. I looked for this dress high and low, and finally found it here at Sposabella. I couldn’t believe it actually existed! I came back twice because initially it was out of my price range, but after thinking about it nonstop for a month and a half, I had to bite the bullet and come back. Naturally, I tried to bargain the price down a little… all I got were taxes off.fine. But what I got in return was full immediate payment — something I wasn’t too comfortable with… At the same time, I was measured and was told that since wedding dress sizes are not the same at everyday clothes, I’d get a size 20 dress. Now, at that time I was a small 16, and after reading a lot about street sizes being much smaller than wedding sizes I didn’t mind too much. Except for the fact that I had already lost 20 pounds, and was planning on some more. So I asked them to order it a size down, but they shrugged me off saying that every bride thinks she’s going to lose the weight and never does… so take it as is and alter if necessary. Little did I know at the time that this was a scam. Apparently all the stores do this to make money off the ridiculous price for alterations($ 500+!!!)… Anyhow, I get the dress 4 months later, and lo and behold, you could fit two of me in there. I was yelled at for having lost too much weight, but in fact, after measuring me, turns out THEY made the mistake. They ordered a size 20 even though I warned them, and based a princess dress size on the width of my hips. Any person working in fashion must know that different women are shaped differently. and when you’re an hourglass shape and are a little more bottom heavy, they should consider this as well as the cut of your dress(super tight bustier, super puffy bottom) when ordering the dress… In fact, the correct size should have been a 16(which STILL would have had to be altered), but the careless and greedy storeworkers decided to basically not give a damn about how this would look on me despite the extreme cost of this dress. Of course I told them to send it back and get me the right size, but they said no… and too bad for me because I had already paid in full. Awful service. I then had to get my alterations done and spent close to $ 500 while being harassed to purchase a $ 300 veil(please don’t ever do this. I bought the same 4 meter long gorgeous veil off Etsy for $ 60…)…And, in the end, after spending so much more on alterations and wasting so much time arguing, the dress did not look like it should have looked because they had to bring it down 4 sizes. It still irks me that I didn’t get the dress I wanted(even though in theory this was it) simply because of greed and an extremely flawed system whereby money-making is the sole object of importance. Needless to say, please don’t make the mistakes I made — speak with a ton of brides beforehand and figure out how to deal with the store you intend to buy from because you *will* get ripped off. I promise you that…(and this doesn’t only go for the dresses… the entire wedding industry is horrific in Montréal.)…gah.can’t cry over spilt milk I guess…
