Café Plume

while they still offer verve coffee, which is lovely in filter form but not good in espresso shots, they moved away from phil & sebastian (from the first time i went) and have been carrying fernwood which imo, is the far superior coffee in this café.
i enjoy the shit out of that roaster, maybe more than i should but hey, its a fine cup of coffee and the chillax vibe is the perfect companion.

The first experience I had a plume was really nice, good coffee, good service. However, today I was very disappointed. I was planning on studying along side a nice cappuccino only to find out that you can’t study on the weekends with your laptop unless it’s at the window. I understand if it’s your business model but you should tell people about it before they purchase a drink! Was also not impressed by the way in which the server told me that laptops were not allowed to be used. She was pretty rude about it. Make your sign bigger please, no one can read your baby sign about no laptops during the weekend.

Quaint little coffee shop. Plenty of tables and space. Its the perfect coffee shop if you want to catch up on some work while enjoying a great cup of coffee.
I had the americano, which was excellent. They also serve bagel sandwiches (SO YUM) as well as a number of grilled cheeses.
Don’t forget to pick up one a cookie while you’re there, they’re the infamous chocolate chip cookies from Café Neve !

I have two of Montréal’ best cafes 10 mins walk from my home. But i did rather take two busses to get to Plume for the perfectly consistent cappuccino.

I stayed in Montréal in the Le Plateau-​Mont-​Royal neighborhood for a month and ended up going here almost every day. The coffee was consistently delicious, they offered a wide array of very good pastries, and the café is a very comfortable place to hang out and relax a bit. They had no problem helping me despite my complete lack of French and the service was always excellent. The café has a very nice, clean, modern esthetic that complemented the coffee well though given how the place has clearly become an institution in the neighborhood it was often crowded with locals enjoying their coffee. Despite this, I always seemed to find a seat. They also offered dependable, fast wifi which is always important for a visitor. The only real downside I can think of is that the place is cash only, which was a bit of a challenge to make sure I had enough cash on hand every day to get my day started. If you are looking for coffee in the Le Plateau-​Mont-​Royal area you should definitely stop by Café Plume.

My friend came here for a Saturday morning coffee. It was a really great experience. We both got the plume bagel, which is a toasted bagel with Italian ham, basil, tomato and cream cheese. I also got a cup of coffee from Ethiopia.
The coffee had a such a unique flavour, very fruity.
The bagel was very light, refreshing, perfect for a start of the day.
It also has a very good atmosphere.
Can’t wait to go back some other time!

Great café in Montréal close to the park. The barista there produced amazing drinks for us. I am exclusively a cappuccino drinker and she made one of the best I’ve had. The environment is very comfortable and relaxing. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a second time just before our return flight to Calgary. We love Montréal and will be back to visit Plume next spring!

Another stop on my tour of independent coffee shops. Ordered a latte, as usual. It was good, but not great, being a bit on the weaker side and having a touch too much foam for my liking. All of the sweet treats on offer looked yummy and the molasses-​spice-​caramel cookie I ended up choosing was delightful.
Baristas are friendly and the ambiance is laid back. A great place to work, catch up with friends, or just relax with a good book (or a magazine from the rack on the wall).

Perfect coffee and laptop-​free weekends. :)

Plume is a mainstay on my morning trip downtown because I live just down the road. Their staff is ulltrrra-​friendly, which is a real bonus first thing in the morning before I’ve had my caffeine. I typically go for an Americano which is perfect every time. This morning I tried a double macchiato which was a bit stronger than I am used to from other cafes like Pikolo. Typically all their pastries and baked goods are excellent, especially first thing in the morning when they first get dropped off. Today I tried the cheese croissant and it was hands down the best cheese croissant I’ve ever had… REAL melted cheese inside the croissant
Between the artwork, the best service and the cool atmosphere, Plume is the SPOT on Mont Royal!

Location: On Mont-​Royal Est. I’d say the closest subway is Mont-​Royal or alternatively, you could go grab a bus up the main. Street parking is available but good luck with that, in this part of town.
The place: It’s super small but really cozy and they’re not cheap with the heat (i.e. it was SUPER warm when we went — I have no issues with this since I’ve got water running through my veins and always freeze my arse off). They play great music, and it’s definitely the kind of place where locals like hang out with a book or buddies. Best part? On weekends, you can only use laptops at the bar-​type seating at the front of the café, so tables aren’t cluttered with electronic contraptions. Though when I was there, a group of bible thumpers showed up (yes with bibles) with an SUV-​sized stroller in tow. Let’s just say that this caused several patrons to raise their eyebrows and offer negative commentary about a) the stroller — I mean, hi, it’s the size of a Vespa — maybe you want to leave it outside? and b) the rearranging of several tables in a very limited space.
The goods: These guys use Verve beans out of Vancouver. It’s not my favourite coffee because I tend to find their roasts a little on the weak side. That said, the baristas at Plume make a mean Cortado and they dress it up nicely with the ol’ Java art. No complaints here. In addition, the barista is super knowledgeable about the different roasts they use etc. so if you feel like chatting coffee, you’ll be well-​served over here.
Service: Friendly staff — what more can you ask for?
Price point: On par with other shops in the area.

Wow! Café bien situé (parfait après une marche sur le Mont-​Royal!), pas cher, serveurs très sympa, bonne musique, excellent café, quelques pâtisseries fraîches… et j’ai cru comprendre que le samedi, les clients sont invités à laisser leur laptop à la maison (sauf dans le petit espace réservé aux ordinateurs près de la fenêtre)… belle idée!

Cute little hipster café in the Plateau. The baristas are friendly enough and won’t snarl if you speak English. My soy latte was great, with a hint of vanilla extract. Perfect place to relax and people watch. Seems like more of a solo type place, lots of people on their laptops and it’s a bit cramped for more intimate, private conversations.

Cuppa solid coffee. Yes, I was into my latte. But I gotta say I was not so much into the vibes. The place needs a bit of love and style. Not exactly a comfy cool place to hang out or read in or study. Close proximity to the park makes it a go-​to pit stop.

Café sympathique bien situé. Ils offrent de bonnes sandwichs pas cher et de délicieuses viennoiseries locales. On peut s’y installer confortablement pour travailler.

My wife and I went to this place while we were on vacation in Montréal. When we travel, we try our best to avoid Starbucks, and support local coffee shops instead. We found Café Plume on a website’s list of top 5 coffee shops in Montréal (

This place did not disappoint. The service was on point. The guy was even patient with us and helped us when we were indecisive on what we wanted to order. The pastries were good. We order donuts with caramel and nuts on top which were delightful. The coffee was good. It was just as good or better than Starbucks. So we were happy about that.
The ambiance was cozy with local art on the wall and contemporary décor. There also were quite a few locals there. I would definitely be a regular here if i lived in the area. Overall, this was a nice local place to get coffee and snacks. So If you’re in the Plateau area, and you need your coffee fix, stop by this place for a cup.

Food, coffee, service: they’re all good here.
The staff are very friendly and very competent baristas.
The menus is uncomplicated, but sufficiently unique to stand out in your mind. I’ve yet to try a sandwich I haven’t liked.
And the coffee is also particularly good. I would, however, avoid the filter coffee as it tends to be bitter (I guess those beans just aren’t meant to be brewed in a drip coffee maker).
Lastly, the atmosphere is really cozy. I often lose track of time while working or reading. On the weekends, moreover, laptops are not allowed at any of the tables, allowing the place to be the kinds of social spot that a café is meant to be.

Cozy little spot with nice staff, laptop friendly looking out on the park, magazine rack in the back and no sense of rush. I’m happy here, but kept from the 5 stars by a filter cup of coffee that’s a little weak for my taste. And I don’t remove stars for terrible art, but if I did, let’s say Meh. Super meh.

I love this place! First visited Café Plume on a day when I was feeling home sick of Vancouver. I knew I was meant to love this place when the friendliest barista told me that she is from Victoria Island!
The fact that the coffee, the sandwiches and pastry as well as the atmosphere are all perfect, is a bonus!!!
The artwork adorning the walls of this café keep changing to showcase local artists and they have a wall with really cool magazines (French and English) for their customers to read.

J’ai découvert ce café grâce au Indie Coffee Passeport et franchement, ce fut une merveilleuse découverte ! Le café était délicieux et il y a un bon choix de pâtisseries et sandwichs. J’ai opté pour un latté comme je n’en avais jamais goûté ailleurs et pour un muffin maison préparé par la belle-​mère d’une employée. J’adopte à coup sûr ! Et pour les amateurs de café, le Café Plume offre une carte fidélité qui donne droit à un café gratuit à l’achat de 10.

Quel joli café! Le staff est vraiment sympathique (moi j’aime ça leur accent anglais, c’est cute), la musique est super bonne et ils servent les grains de la firme californienne Verve (un des seuls à Montréal je crois!). C’est le Indie Coffee Passport qui m’a mené ici et j’en suis bien contente, c’est tout près de chez moi mais je n’avais jamais pris le temps de vraiment profiter de l’endroit. Leur sandwichs, faits avec des tranches de pain au levain, sont vraiment délicieux. On y retrouve également plusieurs pâtisseries et viennoiseries comme les beignes St-​Donut (la fois où j’y suis allée j’avais le choix entre Beurre de peanut et caramel popcorn ou Chocolat Whisky, pouvez-​vous entendre mon cœur se déchirer puisque mes hanches né lui en permettaient que d’en choisir un?) et les créations sans gluten d’Almond Buttefly (sincèrement, c’est exquis, et on se sent un peu moins coupable qu’avec un beigne. Ou pas.)
On y vient pour prendre un bon café, et on se surprend à y rester quelques heures pour manger et flâner sur internet grâce au wifi gratuit!

Impressed… I was impressed.
The coffee was awesome and the sandwich was really good. Maybe it’s because I was returning from a cold hike on the mountain, but I’ll be returning. The décor was cute and inviting.
It’s well located. There really isn’t much else in terms of coffee within a block of that place. Well there’s a Tim Hortons, but the homeless and mentally deranged patrons there might turn you off.

This is my go-​to coffee place near my work. The coffee is good and (just as importantly) consistent.
The vibe is nice and chill, and the place is nicely decked-​out, with a lot of air and good internet — it’s a great place to come and do some work on your laptop.
While I haven’t tried much of their food, they always have a nice selection of pastries fresh daily.
The only reason I couldn’t give them 5 stars was because of the cost. $ 4 is pretty steep for a latte, but I guess beggars can’t be choosers…

Why do people keep on come back? When asked, I’m told it’s because of the perfect blend of great coffee, fantastic pastries, personable service and cozy atmposphere!
Close your eyes and you can almost picture yourself chillin’ out and having a cup of your favourite brew in a coffee shop somewhere in California (that is not Starbucks).
Café Plume is as much about the experience as it is about the coffee! Plateau locals come for their for their favorite cup of west coast style brew. One of the rare places that serves yummy beans from Verve Roasters in Santa Cruz. Don’t forget to sink your teeth in the delicious pastries (catered from Le Chien Fumant) listening to smooth classic rock, reading a book or mingling with the friendly folks. Stick around long enough and you’ll occasionally see local TV or radio celebrities popping-​in.

Ça fait un long bout que La Plume est sur ma liste de café à essayer. Finalement, un peu par hasard, j’ai eu la chance de l’essayer! Et ça né sera probablement pas la dernière fois. On y sert des bons et très beaux latte de la marque Verve, un café de Californie, et du thé Ksumi. Au menu, pâtisseries, paninis, croque-​monsieur, bagels, soupes, pains au bananes et brownies. Le menu typique d’un bon petit café. Mmm… mmmm…
Il y a aussi accès à l’internet gratuitement et sans le besoin d’un mot de passé donc c’est un endroit parfait pour travailler, étudier ou bien des rencontres simplement pour jaser et commencer la journée en tranquillité. C’est à la fois moderne et chaleureux. Un détail que j’adore: le papier peint un peu loufoque de la salle de bain. N’oubliez pas d’y aller pour le voir. Ça vaut la peine juste pour mettre un petit sourire sur vos lèvres :)

Beau petit café ! *assez populaire ici, y’a presque jamais de place pour s’asseoir.
