Thornhill Village Library

A library with a history! Thornhill Village Library was built 1851 and has been a library since 1959!
I couldn’t stop admiring it. the building itself is in a modest domestic Classical Revival style… and those white picket fences just so cute!
Interior though smallish does have this cozy feel to it. And if you are brave enough and walk past all the toys and the kids zone, you will find an nice open area with high ceilings, numerous computer terminals and a seating area with armchairs and sofa.
Quiet… so quiet… and from what I heard there are a ghosts or 2 in here… the whisperings… the foot steps… the occupants from the past…
A library with a history…

I’ve always been a big fan of libraries, having walked to one straight from school every day as a kid. I loved perusing through the latest and greatest additions, classic and modern, and sitting in a quiet happy environment to absorb the words.
Then studying infiltrated my safe-​haven, and the world became a more stressful environment, I fought it, but it sucked me in like a vaccuum.
Life would never be the same.
Worlds had collided.
I’m happy to proclaim that I’ve found a balance between work and leisure reading. I can further enjoy libraries with all their new amenities.
This library has been the cutest addition to uptown in a long time, there hasn’t been any comparable shops, restaurants or institutions yet. The building is an internally renovated historical home from the pioneer times, and the garden is just as protected and pretty.
I have no qualms in returning to my favored part of Thornhill just yet. They’ve got tables for studying, they’re bike friendly, and the inside is like a tiny fortress.
Free wifi! I mean, what more could you want?
