Honestly, this gym is pretty good in my opinion. Sure, appearance-wise may not be as appealing but the gym has enough cardio machines, weights and racks to go around for everyone. To start, it doesn’t get crazy busy too often unless during peak times like after work 6−8pm(approx.) but outside of that, there’s space to get a solid workout in. There’s sufficient room to get around the gym and there are a ton of newer machines that recently got added to the whole set. Been going here for awhile so have seen some changes and newer machines are always a plus; adds to variety on top of the older ones. There are a few rooms as mentioned in the other reviews so you can do your other floor workouts/classes, including a womens only workout room that recently got re-renovated too. Price is farely reasonable especially when you get those deals they have like the $ 299/year or the summer special. Overall the general environment, people and the gym itself is not bad. It could be comparable to Fit4Less since its cheaper there and the machines are mostly new. Place is also clean and theres more space but I find I still like it more at Markville Fitness. Just everything in general is good. If appearance is a thing for you then I suggest Fit4Less, Goodlife or any other gym. If not, this is quite the perfect place to get your workout needs satisfied.

I have visited other gyms with friends but this is the first gym I’ve signed up for membership with silly because of the price. They always have a promotion going on for $ 299/year but I’m not a big gym buff and didn’t know if I could commit for that long. My boyfriend is a regular at their gym so they were nice enough to let me do a 6-month membership for $ 150. This place is dingy compared to all the big franchise gyms but it has everything you need for a good work out. They have a hot yoga room, a large area for floor exercises or classes, a women only section, a cross fit room, and in the women’s change room, they have showers, sauna room, and a tanning room. I’ve never used the amenities in the change room but they are there. Some of the machines are a bit old and may be on their way out but almost everything works fine. Lots of free weights and cardio machines as well. What I love about this place the most is the crowd and general culture. People are very nice and it’s a more casual environment. You don’t have to be decked out in lululemon gear or be scared of intimation here. The crowd is very diverse. You’ll see the university kids, the moms and dads, the elderly, the muscle men, the beginners, and everyone in between. It’s a safe and non judgmental fitness centre.

You get what you pay for here. For $ 299 no tax on promotion for the year and often having 3 extra months thrown in, you really can’t complain. Being previously a long term goodlife member, it is definitely not very new or clean and nice in comparison, but they have all the equipment you need to get your workout done. They have a crossfit and hot yoga studio along with classes which is really not bad for the price. I think for the price, it is what it is. If you’re looking for a place to get your workout done and go home, I think this gym serves its purpose. But if you expect to walk into a goodlife sort of gym for this price then expect to be disappointed.

I’ve been going to this gym since 2012. Coming from someone who’s visited more gyms than he can remember, Markville Fitness is definitely one of the best. 1) The membership price cannot be beat.(Unless if we’re talking World’s Gym, in which case you’ll get what you pay for at $ 10/month) 2) Unlike most of your big commercial gyms,(*cough, cough* Goodlife), this gym is setup to provide a great environment for training. — There’s plenty of floor space — A full selection of equipment — The gym has a garage door that leads out to the back. It’s great for taking a breather outside mid set, knocking out some cardio, or doing whatever else you’d like — Their relatively new Cross Fit room is a great addition 3) The staff is genuinely friendly, and the members tend to be too 4) Includes a hot yoga studio(not amazingly hot, but hey, not bad), a sauna(never personally used it), and a women’s only weight area. 5) Its obvious shortcoming is that the equipment is not all brand spanking new. This is a no frills gym, and they give you what you need to knock out a great workout! Great setup, great people, great gym.

Located near Markville Shopping Centre, Markville Fitness is an independent fitness facility in Markham. This is a decent sized gym; it has ample cardio machines(treadmills, elliptical and bikes), it has a fairly large group aerobics room and the women’s changing room is not lacking in space either. They also have a hot yoga studio, sauna rooms in the changing rooms, and an area specifically for women(for those who are intimidated of the weights area). All of these are included in the membership. I visited a few gyms in the area before signing on with Markville Fitness. What sold me to even consider this gym was the price. They had a special on $ 299 for a year, which included three months free — That’s around $ 20 a month. They also have sufficient strength building machines and weights. I was also convince with their cross-training room; a feature that costs extra, it has two power cages with bumper plates and power sleds for members who choose to add-on the cross-training room. I chose to purchase the use of the cross-training room because I like to not have to wait for a power rack and be left alone while I lift.(Edit: cross training room is now opened to everyone) I have been using this facility for over a month now, visiting on different days and different time of day(except after work times, because I know better). It doesn’t get too busy during the times I do go. The cross-training room can get busy sometimes due to the fact that it is also accessed by group bootcamp classes and personal trainers. While they have«updated» their changing room lockers recently, these lockers were acquired from a golf club: some have hooks in them, some have no hooks, some are rusted inside, some door hinges are loose and doesn’t look clean. The changing rooms floors are also filthy, so I try not to use the changing room if I can help it. The sauna has also been out of order for at least two weeks, not sure when that’s going to be fixed. Overall, this gym has everything for your cardio and strength training needs, and is better than a lot of chain gyms that are in the area.
