Marble Slab Creamery

Came here because of the Black Friday coupon they had. Purchase one ice cream cone and get the second one free. A regular sized ice cream cone goes for $ 6.29 I think. Got a vanilla flavoured ice cream with caramel, chocolate chips and crushed Butter Fingers. The combination tasted amazing. The cone tasted fresh on the top portion of it but when you get to the very bottom tip it tasted stale. Pretty decent value with the coupon.

Hands down my favourite ice cream!

For those that don’t know how it works, I’ll briefly explain:
Pick an ice cream, choose whether you want it in a waffle cone or bowl (dipped waffle cones and waffle bowls are extra), and then choose your mix-​ins. These are items that you want them to add into your ice cream. They range from nuts to chocolate bars to fruit. They have a huge selection of mix-​ins.

Probably one of the most pricey ice creams ($ 9 for large) but it’s definitely worth it! You get unlimited mix-​ins (they used to limit you) and the quality of the ice cream is out of this world.
I’m also surprised that the staff is amazing every time I go. Everyone is always very pleasant (no exceptions) and eager to help. It’s very rare to have such consistently amazing staff.
I love coming here and especially during the hot summer!
For best results go with the double dark chocolate ice cream with strawberries, pecans, and brownies! (My personal fav!)

We came here on a Sunday evening to use a mail-​out coupon (2 medium and 2 small cones for $ 15). There was nobody in line so we ordered right away. but with two staff, one took care of our party of 4 and the other took care of the party behind us. which I felt was quite inefficient.
First off, each ice cream order is to be scooped, weighed, mixed and finally put into a cone… by the time they had mixed the last cone, the person who got their order first was already almost finished their ice cream (or had it pretty much melted away).
Secondly, Marble Slab is quite pricey. the regular price of a small is $ 5.29, medium $ 6.29 and large $ 6.99. The small did not have much ice cream at all. literally one small scoop sitting on a big waffle cone.
Thirdly, there was a lineup to pay. and we were delayed from devouring our ice cream for an additional few minutes (which is crucial when we are talking melting ice cream!) as when we finally got to the machine and asked to pay by Amex… the machine declined it. Why? Because Marble slab does not take Amex and the cashier did not tell us this when we requested to pay specifically by Amex.
Marble Slab currently does have unlimited mixins (seems to be permanent now) which is a fun plus, as you can add as many fruits, nuts, candies into your ice cream as you want! The waffle cones are freshly made but do get a little chewy at the end.
At regular price, it is definitely not worth the price.

A lot of people love Marble Slab but, unfortunately, I wasn’t a fan… at least, not for this location.
It was a hot mid-​August Saturday afternoon. When we came in, there were a few other customers indulging in what looked like promising delicious ice cream. We ordered a medium ($ 6.29) cool mint ice cream with chocolate fudge sauce and kit kat and skor mix-​ins scooped into a white chocolate-​dipped waffle cone.
It was disappointing — the mix-​ins felt sparse — I think we were given only two kit kat sticks cut in half; the cool mint ice cream itself wasn’t flavourful enough — bland; the white chocolate-​dipped cone (which is an extra $ 1.50) tasted fake and I couldn’t really taste the white chocolate.
We had to pick at the cone, passing it back and forth, just to finish it… no one really wanted it but we didn’t want to waste it. — something good ice cream never goes through
I honestly don’t know if I’d come back… the only reason that Im giving this place two stars instead of one is because I’m basing this review on one order — maybe their other flavours are good. Maybe that just means I’ll have to dish out another $ 6-​$ 9 for a «better» experience… although I don’t think that ice cream should be this expensive in the first place. I came in here expecting a lot from a big name in the ice cream business… I left dissatisfied.

This is my place for birthday cakes! It’s open late in the summer and it’s really close to my house so there’s nothing not to love about it! Expect a line up in the evening… people around here loves eating ice cream around this time;p.

we were here before 10 pm and they locked the door and wouldn’t let us in. that shouldn’t be how a business is run. that’s unfortunate. you should say you’re closed at 945 then

We have been to this location several times and love their ice cream. On our most recent visit the owner gave us so many samples to try and told us he made the ice cream himself. He was super nice and friendly and genuinely interested in the feedback about his products. The avocado ice cream and taro ice cream were excellent.

The ice cream used to be great. However this one girl who served me this visit was below par. I asked her what ice cream was less sweet and she tells me she hasnt tried any of them before… Not very good. But okay, next she puts in all my toppings, mixes for about 5 seconds and then into my cone. She doesnt even press it into the cone, resulting in it falling on the counter. While eating the ice cream i had huge chunks of brownie and cookie… Not very impressed.

If you’re a fan of coldstones, this place is similar in a lot of ways. One thing that I absolutely adore is that with their Groupon, you can still customize your cone to have unlimited mix-​ins of flavours and toppings without the extra cost. :) They also have a series of specialized blends. I ordered a signature blend (can’t remember the name but it had brownie chunks, french vanilla, etc.). My boyfriend ordered one with cookies and cream ice cream, brownie chunks, granola and strawberries. Both were wonderful and VERY sweet. Be sure to bring or buy water to chase some of the sugar.
One other thing to note is that they are extremely accommodating here. I couldn’t decide between a cone or cup (bah!), so they gave me both. They make their waffle cones from scratch, so it’s definitely something that you should consider trying. The cone is a mild level of sweetness (it’s not as sweet as most other North American ice cream parlours), which is nice, and brings down the extreme sweetness.

This seemed to me like a rich white persons store and I never tried the place but my sister found a 20 $ coupon for one of them large ice cream cakes (40 $ regular. Got dam that price fam. Bout to back away from those feels)
But let’s just say I cut that ish open and ate half dat cake frozen.
Word of advice: it taste good frozen but way better unfrozen!
I went with the raspberry cheesecake. I didn’t like the raspberries at first but when you dig deeper into that ish you find little crust pieces and the cake get turnt up…
It’s good fam. No ragrets. I only been to dairy Queen like once so I ain’t known much but got dam this cake blew that dq trash into bits

My favourite Marble Slab ever.
I go to school in Waterloo so I generally frequent that one if I want ice cream.
This is my favourite Marble Slab though. It is never full of students and it always has mango ice cream. Always has it. Every time I’ve ever been there.
Whenever I visit, there isn’t a lot of people swarming in here for ice cream. I’m wondering if they’d close down. Please don’t. You’re my favourite Marble Slab.

If you want simple creamy ice cream combined to your specifications on a fresh waffle cone then this is the place for you. Although, apparently in the summertime A LOT of people want this, so be prepared for lines out the door. The staff is friendly and will help with samples and suggestions until you find the combination you need. I’ve also gotten pints of ice cream to go, and an ice cream cake and been happy with the take-​away.
My personal recommendation: amaretto ice cream with snickers… excuse me now I feel the sudden urge to get ice cream… in the middle of winter.

They have the best turtle ice cream cake. Long line ups here in the summer as it takes a while to prepare each customers ice cream. Try the turtle cake!

I love their ice cream cake. A bit pricey but worth it though. I find it better than DQ and Basking Robin.

I had the dark chocolate ice cream with raspberries and walnuts mixed in. Generous with the mix-​ins. Ice cream is soooo delicious even though it looks plain on the display. I had a premium waffle cone with chocolate and peanuts and it was one of the best waffle cones I’ve ever had, it wasn’t overly sweet and had a great crunch.
I had a groupon so only spent $ 5 for it so it was a steal! I would still come back even with full price, maybe once every few months or so.
My sister loves ice cream cakes and they have quite a selection so maybe we can get her one from Marble Slab for her next birthday!

I love straight honest-​to-​goodness ice cream, no gimmicks, great ice cream delivers on its own, any extra stuff or toppings mixed in are more distractions than enhancement.
A friend promised me Marble Slab is SOOOO much better than Cold Stone Creamery of the same concept, so I thought I’d give it a try.
There are quite a few flavours of ice cream to choose from, including one lactose-​free and several low– /​non-​fat varieties. The quality and taste of the ice cream is about «average»…no complaints, no wow’s.
Friendly staff, will give suggestions how to pair toppings with the ice cream if you ask.

I really enjoy the concept of Marble Slab Creamery. So you can pick what you like and mix them together.
The cheery girl behind the counter is so nice and helpful. Ask me if I want to try some of the favours before I make my decisions… Gee I really hate to choose… it is so mind boggling to have to choose from so many favours and toppings. and wondering what will happen.
Now I find out I am a boring person, ended up picking Double Dark Chocolate for ice cream and Oreo toppings. The ice cream is nice and creamy and not too sweet!
One thing I did not enjoy much is the cone. It does not taste so fresh, in fact a little stale… I might just have it in a cup next time.
I really don’t know how kids can pick what topping if you only let them pick one. such a big decision for them to make! :)

Totally agree with the assessment that marble slab and cold stone are really interchangeable although MS is just more expensive. I honestly don’t see how a cone of ice cream that costs 6 – 7 $, though good, not amazing, can be worth it. The difference between CS and MS is that ill be a repeat customer in CS.
Let me state not for fairness that I’m not an ice cream addict, my ice cream intake isn’t such that I need 50 flavors in my life for variety. That’s probably why I do not appreciate this place like others do.

Marble slab =/​= cold stone creamery… marble slab is 100% times better! Sure, the IDEA is the same, but only in the way that McDonalds, Wendy’s and Burger King are the same. Everyone has their favourite & mine is definitely marble slab.
Cold stone ice cream is creamier and melts more easily. The ice cream is almost stringy, and gives you a sugar rush & can make you feel sick after just a few bites.
Marble Slab icecream, on the other hand is absolute perfection. It’s sweet, but not sickeningly so. The icecream actually stays together & doesn’t give a weird stringy look when you scoop it. & marble slab’s Birthday Cake is amazing. How do they make ice cream taste like the birthday cake of your childhood? It amazes me every time.

Marble Slab= ColdStone Creamery. If you’ve been to Coldstone in the U.S. then you’ve pretty much been to Marble Slab as well. It has the same system, interesting flavours and candy toppings.
Choose a size, a flavour and as many ‘mixins’(toppings) you can think of. Watch them mix and voila. Ice cream for one. It’s a fun concept and delicious as hell if you should choose well.
My favourite is Birthday cake and Oreo. Yes, I’m boring, but it tastes like a party.
