I was in the plaza buying a Japanese cheesecake and decided to walk around. I stumbled upon Latte Mei, and decided to give their savory cream tea series a try. I got the savory cream green tea. They seem to be quite known for their savory cream teas where the top of the tea is topped with some cream which has a slight salty taste to it. While it definitely an interesting combo — drinking a sweet tea, and yet getting a bit of salt to balance it out, I personally didn’t find it all that special.

Located in this ghost town of a mall, Latte Mei along with Season’s super market are the only two reasons I have for coming to this mall. Latte Mei has the most unique menu of any bubble tea place I’ve ever seen. They have a few unique drinks, and they even sell Korean food. I haven’t tried their Korean food yet but their drinks are solid. They seem to permanently have their«opening» special up. You can get their hazelnut drink for $ 2 or, buy one get one free. This special gives Latte Mei the edge over other places as I live nearby. I just hope they stay in business. I don’t know what’s wrong with this mall. The location isn’t that bad. It seems like the mall hasn’t hit its critical mass of shop selection. Anyways, this is my new go to place for bubble tea. I definitely prefer this one over the 168 just across.

3.5÷5, +.5 for service Latte Mei is advertised as «the best bubble tea place in Taiwan». I’ve been to Taiwan once, but I never noticed this store. Either way Latte Mei attracted me more than Tea Shop 168 across the floor. The grand opening special is still in effect, so my aunt and I bought two drinks: Lychee iced tea and iced milk tea(without the ice). Since the price was at the $ 4 window, I decided to compare this place to Chatime. I must say, this place really impressed me! I would say the bubble tea quality is on par with Chatime, at a slightly cheaper price as well. The lychee taste was definitely there and not too artificial-like, and their tapioca is chewy but not tough to the point it takes effort to chew; pretty much just right. Service was also great. It felt like a family business as it was a male and female adult holding down the store. Not sure if it is though. If World on Yonge/Shops on Yonge ever become a major shopping destination(doubt it), I can see this place becoming more popular. Or… it might already be popular among the residents living in the condos.

Latte Mei is located in the food court of Shops on Yonge. I have never been to their Dundas location which is now closed so this is the first time I ever have their famous Savory Cream Tea. Savory Cream Black Tea($ 3.99) does have a great balance of sweet and savory. Great for people like me that not into drinks that are too sweet. I ended up getting Cane Black Tea($ 3.49) for my friend since they are doing a Buy one and get one for $ 1 Grand Opening Special! I do love the different combination of tea that Latte Mei offers. And wait they have snow ice too! Perfect for those hot days of summer!
