Dollar Tree

Everything for $ 1.25 or less. Dollarama or Dollar Tree? (Since they’re super close to one another) Hmmmmm, let’s do a more indepth analysis shall we?
Dollar Tree is definitely up to date with the seasons. Everytime I enter, I will see all the products related to the season (e.g. Halloween, Christmas, back to school, Easter, Gardening in the summer) all in the front short few rows. I really liked this because everytime I came into the store, I knew that it was that season.
As for the items, Dollarama IS getting a little more expensive nowadays, but as of right now, the books, stationary, arts and crafts are generally still cheaper in Dollarama (the one’s you can still find for $ 1). However, Dollar Tree does seem generally cleaner than Dollarama and the selection of items does differ in terms of brands and types of stickers, candles, jars, etc.

Just wanted to give an update as the last time we went here, looking for the usual Christmas knick-​knacks just as the store was closing, we were greeted extremely pleasantly and politely by the employees (or were they the franchisees?) as we left the store. When we said thanks as we left, they said «no, thank YOU», and proceeded to tell us how much they appreciated our patronage.
This, on top of the fact that everything here is $ 1.25 (for SHAME Dollarama, for SHAME) or under, with a large selection of seasonal items at all times, puts this store into the 5-​star category for me.

Nice to see the American chain Dollar Tree store as I’m always hoping to have access to more American goodies that are normally not available here. Sadly, for the most part, the goods were pretty much similar to the Canadian king of «dollar» stores, Dollarama.
Prices are set at a maximum $ 1.25 but I’ve got a feeling that might change in the future if the Canadian dollar stays at 1.30 or higher.
Like all consumers, I like low prices and thus find myself in a quandary. Given these type of discount stores have a certain profit margin requirement, not having prices greater than $ 1.25 might mean having a small selection of products or products that have a poorer quality. Let’s face it, a dollar now isn’t worth what it was fifty years ago. The five and dime stores are long gone because simply put there would be nothing for sale at those prices.
Granted, higher prices don’t always guarantee higher quality but at this point, Dollar Tree’s offerings seem like a subset of Dollarama’s.

LOVE! Everything for $ 1.25 or under like my GOD could you ask for anything better?! I found bigger sizes of the Arizona Iced Tea in the plastic bottles (so you don’t have to worry about them breaking!) for $ 1.25 like FACK OFF DOLLARAMA!
In a nutshell: I left with 4 bags full of stuff and only spent $ 18
I say, go check it out and you might be pleasantly surprised at what you find :)

Well, we already have numerous amounts of Dollarama stores in Markham, but not a lot of Dollar Trees. So of course when I saw a fresh Dollar Tree sign while driving up Donald Cousens Parkway, I had to stop by.
The store isn’t that big, but I guess most Dollar Trees are of this size as they don’t have as wide of a selection as Dollarama. However it’s certainly more «dollar-​y» than Dollarama, since nothing here is over $ 1.25!
Nothing much in terms of what’s bad about this time, but on the other hand there wasn’t anything special aside from the new building smell. Some stuff they offer at Dollarama, such as car fragrance, aren’t offered here. However, the bare necessities such as stationery and cleaning products are plentiful here, and in some cases cheaper than their major competitor.
The good thing about Dollar Tree is that it allows me to decide whether to go there or Dollarama. Both are equal distance from my house! Plus, at least the Smartcentre finally has some other stores outside of Walmart!
