Does the phase«a hole in the wall» apply to used bookstores? If so, Alfsen is one. It is cramped with paperbacks. It is great if you are looking for some popular old novels, like a whole series of Stephen King books, or Black Daggers Brotherhood. I bought a few paperback at $ 4 each. I am told they will take your used books and give credits. They only accept paperback as hardcover takes up too much space. I can understand that. I plan to bypass hardcover novels from now on, so my collection has resale value.

This is a gem of bookstores in the GTA… Located on Markham Main Street, it’s very much on the road less traveled. The bookstore is literally the bottom floor of an old Victorian house, complete with squeaky floors, and it is literally jammed(right to the back of the house) with an endless collection of books. Just a maze of shelves and stacks. You could spend a whole day in the shop and not go through half of their supply. And you will find a gem. Guarantied. It is operated and owned by two brothers(the Alfsen brothers) who give piano and guitar lessens on the upper level. They also sell original canvas paintings that are worth a look as well… Anyway, if you happen to be in Markham, and you need a good way to kill an hour or two, check out Alfsen House Books.
