Having just arrived in Lunenburg after driving eight days from Florida, eating out was not on my agenda. However, my boyfriends family was eager to bring us out for dinner upon our arrival. The King’s plate was actually the perfect restaurant for our first night in Lunenburg and a relaxed dinner. The restaurant is located in The Mariner King Inn which I must say is decorated to perfection.(I also love the color combination of the exterior). We sat outside and although it was a bit chilly the weather was perfect.(They offered a heater should we have desired one). The restaurant wasn’t too busy yet wasn’t empty. It was great for a party of five. The outside layout was spacious and I was grateful I didn’t feel cramped. I had the caesar salad appetizer and the salmon entrée(Delicacies of the Ocean). The caesar salad was very light and tasty made with fresh ingredients. The salmon was delicious and perfectly grilled while accompanied with pistachio crusted scallops. You can really taste the difference when a chef uses fresh ingredients! Speaking of the chef, he also leads cooking classes a few doors down at Cilantro which I must review since that was an exciting experience in itself! The food was served in a timely manner. The whole dining experience was truly special seeing as The Mariner King Inn is genuine to the historic character of Lunenburg and quite charming. I toured the Inn after my meal and took notice to the bar and indoor dining area that just looked like the perfect room to eat in during the early morning or while the sun is setting seeing as it has glass walls and ceiling. I would hope to one day stay there. It was far more than I would ever expect especially compared to the surrounding options. I would recommend The King’s Plate to anyone visiting Lunenburg staying at the Inn or not!
