A wonderful place! We stayed in the Picton Castle room. It was just lovely and even had a deck with two adirondack chairs overlooking the waterfront. The TV was great and the bathroom was simple and clean. There is a stand-up shower in this room, not a tub if you’re into that. You check in at the restaurant downstairs(The Grand Banker) and it’s pretty easy. Overall, a very comfortable stay. If we ever make our way back to Lunenburg, we’ll stay there again.

This was my husband and my first time to Nova Scotia and this was our first night stay in the country. When we first got to the hotel we were kind of confused as to where to check in. There was a sign as we entered at street level to go downstairs to the restaurant downstairs to check in. We did and the staff was very nice. They explained everything to us in detail as to when check out time was, when the restaurant is open until, etc. They had us pay and then gave us our room key so we could get settled. We saw online that the room we reserved had a hot tub in the room and we were excited about that. Our goal of this trip was to relax and having a hot tub in the room was a plus. All of the rooms had names of ships from the past on the doors. Our room was called the Romance. As you walked into the room, right on the right of the doorway they had a picture frame with a picture of the ship and the story behind it. The room was a very ample size. A queen bed, it was traditional style bed with posts and all. There was a large closet with a cot and extra bedding and and iorn/board in it as well. there was a mini fridge and mini coffee maker. There was a desk that had their wifi password right there for you to see right away. There were two end tables next to the bed with lamps on them. There was a club chair in the room and a nice flat screen TV. The sink was in a little hallway area inbetween the hot tub room and the separate bathroom with a tub/shower and toilet. It was a HUGE room. Very clean and the bed was very comfortable. We slept pretty well and we don’t usually in hotels. There was an air conditioner in the room, but we could’ve gotten away with just opening the windows for sleeping at night. It was probably mid 50 – 60 degrees at night.(This was the second week in June by the way). The windows in the bedroom and in the hot tub room opened, which was nice. Both rooms had an awesome view of the waterfront. Lunenburg is such a pretty town. It was a very relaxing stay and we’d definitely stay there again. We loved Lunenburg. Oh, and the restaurant below, The Grand Banker, was wicked good. My husband got a burger that had bacon and lobster on it with a garnish of a bacon wrapped scollop. He said it was wicked good. I got the fish and chips and they were awesome as well.

What could be better than staying at a waterfront hotel with a window overlooking Lunenburg harbour and a clear view of the Bluenose II? Probably just the rest of the view — golf course on the other side of the water on your right and islands dotting the way to the Atlantic, working fishing boats docked by the glorious red fisheries. After walking up the steepest streets this side of San Francisco, looking at all the brightly coloured period buildings, it’s a pleasure to relax in your spacious room with all the modern amenities. And then it’s just a short hop, skip and a jump to a tasty meal in their restaurant — especially in the summer, sitting on the terrace. The hotel staff is efficient and friendly and the rooms are spotless. All in all — a perfect way to spend a day or two.
