Wooden Stairs & Railings Ltd. specializing in custom orders, small to large, in the manufacturing, supply, installation & finishing of mostly interior wooden staircases. We offer our clients a wide variety of mass produced products (tread profiles, trim, handrails, posts, spindles/​pickets, metal pickets, etc) as well as customized work using raw lumber and design. For the finishing we try to use zero to low VOC, fast drying quality flooring grade stains, varnishes, primers & paints.

History

Established in 1973.

In 1973 Hans Gollek and his then partner started working out of their basements. Trained in Germany as a carpenter, Hans did all kinds of wood work back then. Slowly he graduated towards stairs and has not looked back.

At the age of 77, Hans still over sees the work done by the shop.

Sometimes he still helps out with the work or design ideas, but leaves most of the messy, dirty, strenuous work to his children and employees.
