I had very little expectation when ordering take out but this turned out to be my best thai food experience in Kingston. My meal was ready for pick up on time and it was neatly packed. I ordered #1(asian chicken) and the sauce was very rich and flavourful. The portions were generous(including the chicken) and not overly salty. This is my first ever review on Unilocal; what a pleasant surprise.

Originally went here thinking I’d have some left overs for tomorrow, I couldn’t hold myself back it was so delicious. Classic family owned/run take-out or eat-in joint with five star food with good portion sizing. I have yet to eat at any restaurant to match the freshness I had here. Staff are very friendly and the place has a very home-y feel to it. It may look a tad sketchy but don’t be fooled or you may miss out on some of the best Asian food you’ve ever had.

Simply the best. The Wok-In is one of the last of what feels like a dying breed — the proud, truly authentic, family-run restaurant. The first thing you’ll notice — it’s small. Very small. Just barely enough room for a few tables of four, and the kitchen is packed right in with you. The second thing you’ll notice — it gets BUSY! I most often called in my order ahead of time and would pick it up or dine-in around 45 – 90 minutes later. You essentially can’t go wrong on the menu. The Pad Thai is amazing, the spicy walnut chicken curry is amazing, the Kako Khmer is incredible, the spring rolls & noodles dish is phenomenal. The most ridiculous part is how affordable it all is. It’s delicious, healthy, food prepared right in front of your eyes from fresh ingredients. I don’t know what else to say. There’s a reason people drive out from all over Ontario to get their fix! If you find yourself in Kingston, don’t miss this. Between the delicious food, affordable prices, and extremely friendly owners(who have been doing this for 20+ years!), you’ll be uncertain if you’ll ever find something better.

Since moving to Kingston, I have been on a hunt for delicious, life changing chicken pad Thai. Sadly, my search so far has been far from satisfying. That is, until I was introduced to Wok In. I was brought here for a date which at first I thought, whoa, not a good sign — the décor and setup might remind you of grungy, communal residence kitchens — but then the food order arrived. Oh, the food! Delicious, freshly prepared. Hands down best pad Thai I have had, even outside Kingston. Generous portions, fair price, highly recommend. Don’t let the look of the place fool you — the most dangerous thing is how easy they make it to order more…

3.98 stars. Hello, I am writing this on the a basis of a SINGLE experience with Wok-In restaurant in Kingston, ON, Canada. *NB: I do not live locally. I am to understand that there are several restaurants that have either had the same owner, or similar ownership, or were sold by the same person to a different owner. Thus, there maybe undue bias and/or influence in this restaurant. 1. Appearance: Simple. Unassuming. Close to main road. Interior clean. Smaller sized. 2. Staff: Very friendly. Straightforward. No service staff due to small size of restaurant. 3. Food: Freshly prepared with fresh ingredients. Pad Thai: fresh noodles, cut, with lime, peanuts and usual, seemingly authentic in origin.(I do not have access to the recipe). Very tangy flavour with sauces. Portion size for myself a little small. 4. Cost: Overpriced for what you get and size of restaurant with no separate service staff. 5. Exit: N/A. Conclusions: Overall, food very fresh and tasty, small location and somewhat overpriced for what you receive. Thank-you.

This hole-in-the-wall was my favorite restaurant in Kingston back in my university days. This past weekend I revisited it after 10 years. And damn it is just as good! I ordered the phad Thai and red curry shrimp. The phad Thai was just the right amount of sweetness. The chicken was succulent and the portion huge. The sauce on the red curry shrimp was so flavourful that I could have eaten just the sauce and rice! Best of all the owner, Chris, still greets you with the same bright smile that he has always had! Now this is a tiny place. There are only two cooks. So you will have to wait for your food and they may not all arrive at the same time for your entire party. But I guarantee that it is well worth the wait!

Excellent food! Had the pad thai which was delicious and a large portion size– enough for two people. Reasonably priced and great friendly service. Only 15 minute wait time. Parking is on street, no lot.

Fantastic food, good prices, and huge portions! Wok-In’s cuisine is actually Thai/Vietnamese/Cambodian rather than Chinese. I came with some friends and we had green and red curries, plus pad thai. The three dishes were more than enough for four hungry people(we had leftovers). The red curry chicken was the unanimous favourite. This place only loses 1 star for us waiting over 1 hour for our food. The seating is very limited(about 5 tables) and it is also a take-out and delivery place. It seemed that the take-out and delivery customers received priority, and the tiny kitchen(run by just 2 people) could not really keep up with demand on this busy Saturday evening. We actually had to go to a show, so we ended up getting our food to go and eating it in the theatre lobby: S But the owners were really apologetic and gave us extra fortune cookies! Great home-style Asian food, but next time I would call ahead with an order and then just pick it up.

When it comes to simple, delicious, cheap, and filling Asian food, I’ve never found a better place than Wok-In. As a student, this place was fantastic. It’s really small, and it can be a bit of a wait when they’re busy, because they can’t cook too many things at once. They’re also randomly closed on Mondays, to my repeated frustration. They also doesn’t always answer the phone to take pickup orders if they’re really busy. But overall, a fantastic place, and great value.

Oh man, the Wok-In has been in my dreams since I left Kingston. They have the absolute best hard tofu on the face of the planet. I have never ever had anything anywhere near as good anywhere else. I tried for years to find it and failed. The Wok-In is pretty low-key — a few picnic tables, and only two burners, so they can only cook two meals at a time. You can even hang your mug on the wall so you don’t have to bring it with you…
