Love coming here for chicken teriyaki bento box. Food is excellent and service is great. Price range for a lunch is also great. Gets our thumbs up every time.

I’ve been a customer for many years. I find this to be one of the best and most consistent suppliers of sushi in the city. I haven’t experimented much with the Korean food but after reading the other reviews I will.

Ta-Ke has been around in Kingston for many years. Although most people likely come in for sushi, I often come in for their additional Korean offerings.(Bim Bim Bap is my favorite lunch time dish). Seating is expansive, compared to some of the other sushi houses in Kingston, and service is generally very pleasant, but not as attentive as it could be.

I first came here to Ta-Ke back in around 2006. Back then I was frequenting the place on my monthly pilgrimages to Kingston. Today I had the pleasure of coming back for lunch. What I had found is the décor of the inside basically was exactly the same as when I was there 7 years ago! Skip to the sushi. On this occasion I had the sushi-sashimi lunch special. My wife had the bulgogi lunch special. Flavour was okay but the rice tasted like it needed some more seasoning. Also the rolls tasted a bit bland! sashimi cuts were fresh and of decent size. I thought this visit was decent but not like I remembered it when I would come on a regular basis. Quality and price is fair but I would have to go again to test out other menu items!

Average sushi — if you come this far along Princess, might as well go to Sima Sushi a few doors down. Nevertheless, I had excellent service here from a guy studying Commerce at Queen’s.

I went for lunch in May 2013 and it was absolutely horrible. The service was terrible and the food was worse. I ordered Gyoza and they were deep fried and tasteless. Whatever mystery meat that was in the middle was inedible. Also ordered a tuna tempura roll with avocado. The roll was deep fried even though there was nothing in the description that indicated that the roll would be deep fried and covered in spicy mayo and soya sauce. Definite pass on this place. Skip it and have sushi elsewhere. So, so terrible.

I love this place! It’s the best sushi place I’ve ever tried and I’ve tried a few. Great atmosphere, service and food! I go there every time I’m in town with friends and I’ve never heard a complaint about the place. There is a huge variety and quite often when I’ve been there with large groups we receive an off menu item on the house(maybe the chef feels creative, I’m not sure, but I’m not about to complain about that!) Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.

Though the name says«sushi», heed my advice: stick to the Korean dishes! That’s not to say the sushi isn’t good — it is. Usually. But it can be quite a crapshoot, to the point I stopped bothering with the sushi long ago. One day it’s amazing, the next the rice is undercooked and warm(and has partially cooked the fish!). The Korean menu, on the other hand, is near perfect, with bulgogi that Korean ex-pat friends have compared to some of the most comforting they’ve had from back home. My favourite is the soon tofu, a classic stew that is divine… I used to get this at least once a week when I lived and worked down the street. When I return to visit, I always try to get a bowl. And, like most Korean restaurants, if you order off the Korean menu you’re destined for complimentary banchan. Wonderfully, assuming you’re friendly and pleasant with your server, the banchan seems endless. As soon as it’s close to gone, another round arrives and you’re left wondering if you’ll have room for your dinner. Braised tofu, sauteed rapini, kimchi, korean pancake, pickled cucumber, korean potatoes, chapchae… the list goes on! And it’s all fantastic! Y’know, it occurs to me in writing this review that Ta Ke really is a tale of two restaurants. 5 stars for the Korean, 3 for the Japanese, which should come as little surprise considering the owners and most kitchen staff are Korean. I’ve yet to experience Korean as good as this in Toronto, though I confess I haven’t exactly sought it out after a couple bad experiences in little Korea shortly after moving to TO. I suppose I should give it another go. In the meantime, I’ll continue to dream about Ta Ke’s soon tofu and their nigh endless supply of banchan!

Well rolled sushi. Very friendly staff. The sushi rice was a little underdone. The rolls were expertly rolled and tasted great. Being from the west coast, I need my sushi fix every few days and this place filled the void well.

I don’t think this is the best sushi place in Kingston, but it’s definitely one of the most popular and reasonable(for a sushi place in Kingston). The atmosphere is always very nice and the service is usually good. The sushi is usually pretty tasty and the experience will definitely quench any sushi thirsts you’ve had. Otherwise, don’t expect your socks to be knocked off. Tip: That thing at the end of your table is a button to call for service. It’s used in every restaurant in Korea(all the sushi places in Kingston seem to be owned by Koreans). Don’t be afraid to use it! It’s not rude and it will save some time over trying to catch their eye.

Lots of people see this as the best sushi in Kingston. Having eaten sushi in Vancouver, Toronto, New York and LA… it is good if you need a sushi fix but your options are limited. An extensive menu with good selection and friendly staff. Some of the rolls are a good value.
