Very authentic… and the biergarten is pretty nice. Sort of vestige of old Kingston. I usually get the schnitzel with the kartoffelknudel and kraut. Sometimes the extra potato pancakes make a great app. Nice spot on a summer day.

The BF’s Chicken Kiev looked and tasted like no Kiev either of us have ever seen before — and this is not a good thing. The chicken was cold inside and appeared to be microwaved. He barely finished his veggies because they were so poorly done. The soup — we had one sip each and then abandoned because it was that disgusting. The only saving grace was the beer — which is hard to mess up.
Even though we didn’t touch the soup at all and the BF only had half his main, the server did not ask us about the food or offer any compensation for the meal.

My wife and I are in town for vacation. I work for a German company, so German food is a favorite. The food here is very authentic. I would get the same Roast Pork in Heidelberg or Munich. Same for the Hungarian Goulash! We were very satisfied and stuffed. We went only for lunch, but the portions would fill anyone at any time. Service was great and sitting outside in the Garden just made the beer better!

I love this place. Every time I go it’s fantastic. Saturdays are so busy you need to book. Sunday’s are closed. Beer is awesome. They even have a zero alcohol beer so everyone can enjoy. Sorry for the short review but no need for more.

Great menu options, great beer selection, huge portions, what’s not to like really? Bauernschmaus is huge and delicious, and desserts nothing to scoff at either, for pretty reasonable prices. They’ve got a formula that works, as do most German places. Forget trying to to be modern or trendy or whatever, just do good food in a comfortable place.
As the sign in the main room reminds, There’s no beer in heaven, so we must drink it here!

Great place. Great outdoor patio. A very Hofbrauhaus feel to it and I have been to the original in Munich. Food was pretty decent. Beer was cold. huge mugs for that authentic German feel. Recommended.

The food on the Queen’s campus must be some of the worst of any university in the country. The restaurants around Queen’s are equally terrible — bouillon powder covered fries at Stooley’s, anyone? Sometimes you just gotta book it downtown to have an amazing, and amazingly priced, lunch at Amadeus. Delicious Kassler Rippchen or Pork Loin and a Hacker Pschorr for under $ 20? Count me in. Bier Garten is also charming.

Goulash and sauerkraut anyone?
This place is my all time favorite restaurant in Kingston for my German good craving. It’s comfort food to me (because after all I am German: P)
I believe this is a family owned place but Im not to sure anymore since the last time I was there.
I recommend the Goulash (which is like a beef stew over egg noodles). Delish!
The restaurant is nice and warm home-​y feel with table cloths. Staff is lovely and the food is really good if you ever want to try some dishes from back home. I haven’t been there in ages but when I get to Kingston one of these days I will try and get a menu to see what else they have as options since I always get the same thing lol.
