Specialties
Fresh Island seafood, vegetables and meats. Homemade bread and desserts made daily.
History
Established in 1997.
We wish to extend a warm and cordial Island welcome. Whether you are visiting us for business or pleasure we know you will enjoy your experience. We hope it will bring back memories of your «home place».
This historic home was built in 1915 by local merchant Parmenus Orr and retains much of the original ambiance through thoughtful renovations, hardwood floors and period furnishings. Many of the family’s original furnishings, antiques, photographs and oil paintings, painted by Orr family descendents, hang proudly on our walls. A large verandah on the front of the house is available for «old fashion» relaxing.
Meet the Business Owner
Glenda B.
Business Owner
Glenda Burt, a native of Kensington PEI, grew up working in her parent’s restaurant and bakery where she discovered her love of cooking. Pursuing this career, she attended Holland College’s culinary course where she received her Interprovincial Cook’s Licence and her Red Seal.
In 1997, she created The Home Place. This restaurant and inn is set in a beautiful house built in 1915. Her menu reflects traditional Island dishes in keeping with the public’s desire to dine wisely and well. Local produce, seafood and beef plus a gluten free menu are all highlighted to combine home cooking with a stylish presentation. Overnight guests can choose from four comfortable rooms with ensuite baths.
Glenda was the 2008 recipient of the coveted People’s Choice Award during PEI’s Fall Flavours.
