Excellent place to have a quality, healthy lunch. Sooooo thrilled to have this little gem so close to home. The breads and sweets are out of this world delicious. Highly recommend to all!

Went for Mothers Day brunch. Frankly I was horrified at the lack of cleanliness in this restaurant — after using the washroom, I was even more horrified — it had not been cleaned in months, if ever. The food was average at best. Sorry — my spouse loves the place, but I can’t understand why the city health inspectors haven’t shut them down. Thank god I didn’t see the kitchen!

What a gem of a place in Kemptville. This was our second visit to The Crusty Baker and we have now sampled the bakery goods and something from all parts of the Creperie menu. To start, the bakery offerings are simply outstanding. Wonderful breads, deserts and pastries all baked on site. Once you’ve sampled the bread you won’t buy anywhere else. The creperie menu is varied but wonderfully simple. Both savory and sweet crepes got thumbs up from everyone in our group. On a previous visit the sandwiches and delicious home made soup made for an outstanding lunch. The staff are warm and friendly and are happy to explain what delicacies are available that day behind the counter. We’ve just finished breakfast and my girls are requesting another crêpe… Enough said. Don’t miss The Crusty Baker when you’re I the Kemptville area, it’s well worth jumping off the 416 to visit if you’re going by on the highway.

Had stopped in for lunch and had the soup and sammich du jour. the sammich was a pickled roasted red pepper with baby spinach and brie cheese with some sicy salami and tomato on some great crusty italian bread. Very tasty. Some might find the salami slightly spicy. The soup du jour was so good. A home made chicken and leek soup. Great flavor! $ 16 before tip with a baguette of rosemary and sea salt. Definitely will be back.

Imagine if Sarah McLaughlin opened a bakeshop, and then asked the hactivist group Anonymous to crowdsource it. What would you get? A slightly subversive, yet roots-based, and quirky mixture of a place that serves treats like Eccles cakes, mincemeat tarts and very tasty breads. Treats that evoke the bakeries of days gone by that used to dot every small town in Ontario, and yet, also just reinvented enough to intensify a focus on quality, with just a touch of folksy anarchy. But somewhere in the mix, there must be a good baker, because their stuff is really good.

this wonderful bakery is the best kept secret of this small town. containing some of the best bread Ive tasted in Canada, the crusty baker is tucked away in kemptville and is worth the drive if you can head out there.
