One star and I wish I could give them lower. We live in one of the Abigail buildings and, as another user mentioned, the views are fantastic. That being said you can tell it was a rush job. Our bathroom door was missing a door jamb. The tiles weren’t properly grouted, with many holes and clumps — and they werent properly cleaned afterwards. There was clumps of putty on walls/doors/tiles. The balcony railings in our entire building were missing a screw to keep them from moving in the wind(not structural but still). Sure, the renting process is easy — but they just want to get you in as fast as they can. Once you’re in they forget about you. We quickly realized our bathroom vents were pushing air in, rather than out(major issue when you share an air vent with a neighbor who smokes the funny cigarettes — buy hey, free hot boxed bathroom for us!) and after MULTIPLE attempts to get it fixed(through building managers AND head office) NOTHING was done. We ended up just sealing the vent shut and using windows for air flow. Oh and not to mention their whole management process is just«shove flyers under the door» Late on rent? Even though you went down to the office 25 times DURING the posted office hours and no one was there? Here is a threaten letter under your door! How about the one threatening police action if someone was to leave the garage door propped open — that one was fun. They also invent the most ridiculous rules. Most recently there are notes everywhere that the poor dog owners can’t take fido out the front door. There has been multiple notices in the past, even so far as threatening eviction for silly things that could be fixed by installing a couple garbage cans or having a dedicated potty zone. This all from a building where a good chunk of their tenants are dog owners — learn and work WITH your clientele Universal, and stop treating them like trash. It is worth mentioning that this is Universal’s fault, not the poor property managers. Those people work hard as dogs and get little to no recognition or support from head office. They are told to enforce rules they think are ridiculous, and have to sign letters they didn’t write. Surprising that they cant seem to retain a manager at any of the buildings for more than a couple months. Shocker…
