Last week I called around to various local oil suppliers to check rates for our home furnace. What I discovered was that Ultramar had one of the higher rates, at least in comparison to many of the smaller, independent fuel companies. At the time, Ultramar was charging 76.9 cents per liter, in comparison to lower rates of 69.8 and 70.2 cents per liter.
Ultramar also provided the option of price-​locking oil purchases, whereby, for an annual fee of $ 150 you’re guaranteed not to pay above 82.5 cents per liter, and you receive the lower oil cost if oil price is below 82.5 cents at time of order.
