Not such fabulous impressions of Prince Matthew. Far from royalty, my experience of this Hollis Street rental stems from an apartment viewing of my own, as well as ongoing visits to my two dear pals who lived here for a year. For my own viewing, I was instructed to meet the super-intendant at the neighboring convenience store. I entered the store to a very inappropriate and downright dirty conversation between a trio of men, the super-intendant and his buddies didn’t seem to be bothered by the fact that I was here to see the apartment. After a brief introduction, the man lead me up through the apartment building, which reeked of a combination of cleaning supplies and cigarette smoke. Ugh. The apartments weren’t too bad, but the overall spot is just a bit on the dingy side. Rent seems far too high for what is provided. Reading Courtney’s review of the«sexually explicit comments» makes it clear that this is not just a matter of me walking in at the wrong time. The general vibes I got from the spot were just sleazy, and this would not be a spot to call home. My 2 guy friends who lived here managed to pull together a decent living space, and it wasn’t a bad place to visit at all. They replaced the carpets with new flooring, and the inner apartment space seemed fine. I can’t shake my initial impressions of this place, however. The management did not seem professional, and the facilities were less than breezy.

So many components of living at the ‘PMP’ were unpleasant and not renter friendly, I’ll only touch on the big ones: First off, the couple that were acting as building managers when I lived there(December 2005-August 2006) were extremely invasive. They would stand in the foyer drilling those coming to our apartment to establish if we were having a party. There were also several sexually explicit comments made on the part of the building manager to my roommate Dan, with regard to the highly unusual concept of two friends living together. Made for some extremely uncomfortable sublet discussions, etc! My room had also been painted lime green prior to us moving in and there was no chance that the landlord was paying to have it switched back to a less seizure inducing shade. Other noteworthy annoyances: laundry room was locked promptly at 10pm, regardless of whether your clothes were about to be finished drying, we had to SCOWER the apartment prior to moving out including pulling out the oven and cleaning behind as well as having the carpets steam cleaned, and finally, there was no understanding with regard to the fact that my roommate needed to store his couch in the basement for an extra day after our lease had run out. Overall, the folks at PMP don’t seem to understand that they have a mutual contract with those leasing from them. In other words, they have a standard to uphold as well. I definitely do not recommend living here, despite the central and convenient location.
