Midas

Normally I avoid these types of places for reviews, but I recently got my car serviced here and as I never know where to go I thought I would help someone else out a bit!
I was getting my car winterized, winter special of 49 $ for all the fluid changes etc. I also wanted to check the brakes, the inspection cost 40 $.
Brake check = nothing wrong. Ease of mind for 40 bucks… I’m ok with that! The winter special, standard price around town, pretty good!
My only downside of the visit, they pushed VERY hard to pressure me into winter tires. They must have seen a girl with little to no knowledge of car, which is accurate, what they did not know is I have a family connection to someone in the industry who has assured me this is NOT true! I normally go to Dartmouth for my car needs but for this quick service and deal I went around the corner for convenience. The general service was good, just a little uneasy with the added pressure, it will make me think twice about going back because I have trouble saying «no» to salesman! (my own issue that I am working on!)

I had a part replaced a few weeks ago. I thought they could replace just a small part of the system as it was just a bad joint but no, they ended up replacing a great long section. I could have had the same work done at Canadian Tire for $ 100 less. Not impressed at all. Yes it was good work but geeze how about putting a little effort into saving the customer some money. Also the telephone followup from some call center in Florida to do a survey on my experience? No.

You know what? I hate getting my car fixed. People treat me like I am an idiot (although, I might be a bit of a car idiot) But that does not mean I do not want to be treated like a human. Last Saturday I was trying to go to a wedding, and my car started being a problem. I drove around looking for a place to take a look at it. Most people laughed, saying they had no space. But the guy at Midas was really nice. He listened, he felt bad and even though they could not take us, I made an appointment for Tuesday. The front desk man is super friendly, easy to talk to and the work was always confirmed before they did it. I overall had a very positive experience. I’ll be going back!
