The Gorsebrook Lounge is reasonably priced and suitable for students. Since it is on campus, it makes sense. Their husky burgers are pretty big, so leaving stuffed is quite likely. Their poutine has a generous amount as well and it tastes great! I’ve also had their chicken fingers which I enjoy because they’re crispy, tender, and lightly spiced. As for the alcohol, the prices are pretty fair. They have a variety of drinks to choose from — mixed drinks as well! My personal favorite mixed drink is the jolly rancher, I strongly recommend it if you like the candy, as it tastes almost identical. As for the atmosphere, it’s nice — nothing fancy, but comfortable and relaxing. Also, there are a lot of places to sit so you can pick either a table or booth if you prefer.

It’s a campus bar/grill(?). Ish. It’s not the worst place, but far from being the best. I’ve had a few different things. Some of it is the same fare you get in the cafeteria, like soup and fries, but nothing is fresh or great. I did enjoy the garlic bread I got with my cream of broccoli soup(that I’m sure was scooped from the vat in the caf). I recently got fish and chips, and it was the standard over battered from frozen stick of who knows what and opted for onion rings instead of fries. Big mistake — where’s the honey for onion rings?!? They were clearly overdone and of the sort that one bite takes out all the onion. Boo! I think it’s silly to have to do drink and food orders separately. And being ID’d every time I do buy a drink is getting old, like me. I am very obviously over 19 — don’t be silly, use your common sense because the excuse«we have to ID everyone» is tired, I’m fairly certain you didn’t ID that 70-year-old woman over there. The service is inconsistent, and servers clearly favour regulars. Not a terrible thing, I get it, but it may be worth trying to entice others to become regulars in the first place. It’s worth a try if you want to have a sit-down meal and maybe a drink, but don’t have high expectations. It is a campus bar, after all.

If you are looking for pretty good cheap eats and don’t give a D about the level of service you receive, hit up the Gorsebrook. First of all, because it is a university lounge, alcohol and food purchases are handled separately. Which is never good; you can’t rely on a floating bartender to actually bring you a drink, you’d be better off going and getting it yourself. I’ve ordered a drink twice and didn’t receive it either time… I guess they wanted to sure they didn’t get tipped. Food service is slow; it took us a good 10 – 15 minutes until we actually received a menu. And, they’re not very friendly; I’m 26 years old and got hit for ID in the bar 4 times! Once on the way in and 3 times while sitting at my booth eating dinner, WTF?! The prices are amazing though — and the quantity and quality of the food proves to be quite impressive.

Great place for students to host events, attend open mic, wing night and to take a study break during exams. The hours are great during the school year but they stop serving food pretty early. The prices are reasonable, suited for students :) I am a fan of the vegetable stirfry and hummus platter, oh and the beer!
