I have been going to this location for years, and have always had great customer service and lots of choices. The staff are always very helpful and kind. I recently had a very frustrating problem at this location, and it was taken care of immediately, and handled very well by the staff in order to resolve it. I must say, a big telling sign for how good a business is, is how well they resolve problems that arise. In this regard, I feel very satisfied.

All EB games are great for new and used games. This one is a little off the beaten track for me, but I have hit up! In fact I have received some of the best customer service at this location. Very helpful, went the extra mile for me, and in the end I got what I wanted. Albeit from another location, but she helped my figure out which location had the other game(s) i was in looking for. If i find myself in the area, I’ll be dropping back in!

Here’s the thing: I enjoy video games, but I love my Xbox. It’s no longer just a video game console. It’s now a video player, a social tool, an exercise simulation, an internet viewer, AND a video game console. So 2 years ago, I decided to buy the Xbox 360’s brand new sleek version with Kinect(which basically allows you to play games with your body rather than a controller). With this, I purchased a 1-year renewable warranty. This warranty allows you to exchange the console whenever you want, no matter the reason. Defective? Warranty! Broken? Warranty! Spilled a glass of water on it? Warranty! Fell out of a window? Warranty! AND, it never goes away, because I can renew it every year, so that this console will never give me headaches for as long as I have it. I can always take it back for a new one. That’s the reason I bought it really. It was convenient, and had a wicked sales pitch attached to it. So a year goes by, and I renew the warranty with minimal hassle. Nothing ever broke, and nothing was ever wrong, so I didn’t bother returning it for a new one, the warranty felt safe. THEN, another year goes by(last week), and I find myself a few days before the renewal date. Thinking I’m safe, I take my receipt into the same shop I bought it at, and the same one I bought the warranty at, and the same one I renewed the warranty at. Tried to renew it again… BAM! NOPE! Apparently, they’d just changed their warranty policy, so that it was no longer renewable, and you could no longer return the item for anything other than it being defective. So there’s a pickle for me: I can’t renew it(even though that was the only reason I paid $ 40/year over the last 2 years to do so, AND the only reason I bought the machine anyway), and I couldn’t even return the machine to start with a fresh one and get longer out of it now. There was no announcement of a change in policy, there was no contact to let me know there was a change, and yet they let the change come and go anyway. They have my contact information on file because of the warranty, I have proof of the warranty and my purchase, but too bad for me. Whether it’s a company policy or not, it is a bad practice to go back on a previous purchase(especially a warranty) and say it is no longer good for what it was originally purchased for. I could understand if they told me that there was a change, and this would be the final renewal(it would suck, but at least then I get my notice) and at the end of it I could not renew again, nor could I return it for being anything but defective. But they didn’t even do this. They just left their customer out to dry. I can’t fault the cashier for this, however, as he did try his best for me. This was a store issue only. The store made a promise to me, and then backed out on it without telling me, or giving me any kind of severance. Luckily, however, I was able to go to another EB Games store in Halifax, and they did allow me to exchange it for a new one, and get a one year(non-renewable) warranty. Not an ideal fix, but more than the original store did for me. This was a store that would have otherwise received a great review from me, as it was always fair and kind to me. Unfortunately, this experience was the straw that broke my back, and I will be taking my business to other stores in the future for my video games.

This is the worst EB Games I have ever been to. I will never go to this store again. I walked in and started browsing PS3 games. Saw a box for a new copy of Uncharted 3 for 19.99. I took the box up to the counter and was told that the box should not be kept out on display because they didn’t have any new copies of Uncharted 3. They went on to tell me that they had a used copy but that was 19.99 as well so I purchased it and went home. I finished the game and then I thought I would try out the multiplayer. When I tried playing multiplayer it asked for a code. There was no code so I had to pay $ 10 to play multiplayer. Why would they sell me the used copy for the same price as a new copy when I would have to go home and pay $ 10 for multiplayer whereas it would be free for a new copy. This shows me that the attendants at this store don’t care about their customers. I have come accross a similar situation before at another EB Games store where the employees informed me about the multiplayer fee for the used game and advised me not to buy the used copy. In conclusion I would rather drive further to a store where employees care about their customers a little bit so I will not be shopping at this store ever again.
