Delta Barrington

My partner and I stayed here on a business trip and we had asked for a parcel to be delivered here which was quite important to us for our work. We had called the hotel a couple of times to let them know to expect the parcel.
When we called to check on the status of the parcel on our day of arrival they determined that someone there had declined the parcel and it was on its way back to the shipper via Canada Post. Needless to say we were quite upset but I was very impressed with the first comment made by Meghan (sp?) who told us «we will do everything we can to see if this can be resolved» and then proceeded to contact Canada Post and the shipper to see if anything could be done. Eventually the parcel was supposed to be held at Canada Post and we could pick it up. Unfortunately this did not transpire due to Canada Post.
Meghan then proceeded to offer us a few perks to make up for the mistake and I have to say that within a couple of hours of their hospitality we were in a much better frame of mind.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank Meghan and the rest of the wonderful staff at the Delta Barrington for their professional and caring manner. They also have a great restaurant with amazing food and according to my partner one of the best seafood chowders she has ever had! I would recommend this hotel to everyone.
It is not the fact that they made a mistake (that can happen anywhere) — it is how the mistake is handled.

The Delta Barrington was supposed to be my home away from home this week in Halifax (last night ’til Friday morning) and next week (Sunday ’til Thursday).
The first thing I noticed when I walked into the room was a musty smell. No problem, I thought, as I always travel with scented candles.
Then I noticed how tired the room and the furniture were. I’ve never seen a bed against a wall in a hotel. There were big gouges in the furniture.
I decided to spend the week there but changed my arrangements for next week within minutes.
I found a small dark curly hair on one of the beds … eeeew! Needless to say, I didn’t sleep in that bed.
I was just dozing off to sleep last night when I hear a LOUD roar. I got up to check and it was the person in the room above me running a tub … it sounded like they were running the water in my tub! That’s it … I was done!
When I got up this morning, I checked myself into another hotel online for the rest of the week. When I told the woman at reception I was checking out, she offered to move me to another room but I declined. I stay in a lot of hotels because of work and have stayed in a lot of Deltas. This room was below their standard and is the first time I’ve ever checked out of one before my stay was over. I won’t be back.

Great location! Close to the waterfront and walking distance to restaurants, sites, and shopping. The hotel staff was amazing! Everyone was so friendly and helpful and went above and beyond our expectations (in particular Natasha in the Signature club and Kylie at front desk). The hotel room was clean, we got an upgrade to our room and it was a good size and included a fridge. Definitely going back!

This is a great middle of the range hotel in a good location. Pool was clean and super warm. Room was cozy but comfortable. It’s not a the top of the luxurious fancy hotels, but it was great for what it was. Nice front desk staff, they stand outside the hotel in kilts, which was fun as it was our first stop after the airport. Great restaurant attached with everything you could want. Closer to the water then other higher priced hotels. Overall, would recommend.

My husband and I got a Signature room on July 24, 2015. Our stay was wonderful with the high quality attention to detail I have always received here. Valet parking jumped in to help as soon as we arrived and check in was a breeze.
We met Alyssa in the signature lounge, she was so amazing. We signed in had a quick chat and got our meal. There was a good variety of snack options. I especially enjoyed the salmon and pickled herring.
Once we told Alyssa we were attending the Weird Al concert she was a wealth of information on our concert and the music scene in general. The Delta Barrington is so convenient for getting to the casino. We relaxed and took a walk on the waterfront. The concert was WOW! Topping off our evening was a beautiful note, some chocolate covered strawberries and Perrier water from Alyssa. What a classy move. We were so impressed.
I slept well in the comfy King sized bed. So well in fact that we just caught breakfast the next morning in the lounge. It was good. I enjoyed the boiled eggs and coffee. Finally, the shower was so good with lots of water pressure and the June Jacobs soaps and lotion.
The Delta Barrington is my favourite place to stay in downtown Halifax!

This hotel’s rooms are rather dated (our carpet was stained to say the least, ceiling trim ended about a foot before the wall did), though I’ve no other Halifax-​hotel experiences to contrast it against, so it may be top notch for the area.
Cons:
Valet parking. I know, parking is nonexistent in the area, but we had no idea of the parking situation and resulting $ 20/​night. Upon checkout it took 30 minutes to retrieve our car.
Housekeeping at 10am on the dot. Maybe your typical businessman would have vacated by this point, but us vacationers were still in bed.
While waiting for our car to be delivered in the morning we heard two people talk their way out of the $ 20 valet service charge — if they didn’t have to pay because of ‘inconvenience’ why should we?
I doubt I’d stay here again.

I recently stayed at the Delta Barrington again and while the rooms are still a bit dated the staff is so super nice and the location is so great that I’m bumping them up a star. Added to that is the fact that this is the only hotel I’ve ever stayed at where room service offerings are better than the attached restaurant and they don’t automatically charge you gratuity and you can see that they are all about making the stay as nice as possible for visitors.
Another added bonus is the walkway connections to the Scotia Square and the casino so if you need to get around for necessities or gambling it’s a breeze to do so in any type of weather. Overall, I think this is a great option for the location and price.

The rooms are dated but great customer service here is my review on the sister properties together. I only gave it 4 as the restaurant was under construction when we were there and the rooms are outdated.
By Far my Favorite hotel I have stayed in. We have stayed here twice both for a week duration. The first time was just my husband and I and we were at the sister property they failed to let us know they were under construction and we were woken up quite early I went down to the desk to let them know we were not aware of this. they apologized and offered us free breakfast and a move to the Delta Halifax (this hotel) The staff at both by far met our expectations. The first trip we were on our house hunting trip to move from Ontario to here. When they found that out they gave us a map of the HRM and circled where to look and where to stay away. We were treated to dinner and wine as we were telling them this was our first time together alone since our son was born and since my husband had come home from overseas. That we were looking forward to this posting as he wouldn’t be gone as much. The second time we stayed here was when we moved and we were waiting for our items to arrive. they made sure we had two rooms adjoining (Suite) as we had our son, two dogs and my mother along with us to help with the move. even though it had been 4 weeks later, we were greeted by name by all the staff as we entered the building and did not have to even give our name at check in. They had a little present for our son when we checked in as well which entertained him for the week and till this day 1 year later he loves his dinosaur he was given. Everyday we came down we were asked how the house was coming along (as we were painting and such while we were waiting for our moving truck to come from Ontario) The day our stuff did come they allowed us to leave my mom, dogs and son in the room until 7 or 8pm as unloading a moving truck and waiting for them to put our furniture together. I am also impressed that to this day when my family walks by either of the Delta Halifax or the Delta Barrington the staff still greets us with hi Mr. and Mrs. Irwin. How are you liking Halifax? I can stay we will definitely be back when we are posted out of Halifax and we recommend this hotel to any friends or family that come to visit us.

I was expecting more from a 4 star hotel. I was kinda disappointed with the quality and how dated the rooms were for the price. But it’s still a decent hotel.

Stayed two nights in October. Easy check-​in and check-​out, Accommodations were very good, clean and comfortable, large television, so forth. Free coffee from 5−7am.
Some things of concern:
Our reservation was for two double beds, but only one double was available.
Bathroom — No shower cap, no towel racks, no safety bars in tub-​shower area.
Reception area — Although being renovated, more chairs are needed (three are not enough.
All in all, a good stay.

We’ve now stayed a second time and our experiences have been so good I decided to bump it up a star and make it our go to hotel for when we want to treat ourselves to a night or weekend in the city.
We like it so much we made two more bookings for future outings.
The basic rooms might be a little smaller then newer properties but the delux, Signature Club rooms and suites can be quite large if you need the extra room. The rooms are really well maintained and furnished quite nicely.
Everyone is always wanting to know if there is anything they can do for you. You can really feel pampered.
If you sign up for emails you can find some pretty sweet deals, the best I’ve found for a night in downtown Halifax. Of course you can get the best deals off season, it can be a little more difficult during the peak of tourist season but still better then some other properties around town.

As usual for most people, I haven’t stayed in many hotels in my home town but this is one of the few. Thanks to a special rate for teachers, there are some pretty good deals to be scored at the lovely Delta Barrington so a group of us decided to nab a couple rooms for a night out on the town.
The hotel has got to be one of the nicer ones in the city. Everything is just a scootch newer, shinier, cleaner, and brighter than so many of the others that I’ve been in. The staff from the lobby all the way up are nice, fun, and helpful (even delivering playing cards upon request), and the rooms themselves are quite lovely. A little on the small side sometimes, but still very lovely.
Now, as with any time you and fifteen of your closest friends decide to have pre-​bar drinks spread between two hotel rooms, it was no surprise when the inevitable knock on the door came to ask us to get on with our plans elsewhere. But, and I give some mad love to them for it, they even handled this really well.
Instead of a «blah blah blah noise complaints, get out,» they arrived with smiles on their faces, asked how the night was going, and just said «hey — we get it, we want you to have a good time, but how about you go hit the bar now?» We’re not 19-​year-​olds doing tequila shots, so it was nice to be spoken to like a grown-​up even though we may not have been acting like them.
Keep doing your thing, Delta Barrington!

The Delta Barrington is a great hotel. It is connected to the Scotia Square Mall and the Casino, which is great for when the weather is not so good.
The Hotel is nice, it is located right downtown Halifax, so you can walk anywhere from here. The service is good, rooms clean, and a fun place to stay.

This downtown hotel is up to snuff with both face to face customer service, and maintaining an efficient behind the scenes system so as to keep the place running smoothly.
The valet parking is very convenient, as there aren’t many places to park along the busy Barrington strip. Counter attendants are prompt and helpful and are able to assist visitors with situating themselves within the Halifax geography.
For those who enjoy extracurricular fun, there’s a pool handy for leisurely swims or games with the kids. The facilities are clean, and the pool is a fairly decent size.
The rooms are kept in tiptop shape, and the maid service stays on the ball keeping sheets crisp and rooms tidy throughout the duration of your visit. The Delta Barrington is in a great location and is an ideal hotel if you’re visiting the city or looking for a couple of nights of relaxation.
