Wow, i’m actually really disappointed in Bubba Rays Halifax. My bestfriend and i went here for Wings last Friday night, ive gone to the Bedford location and had a great time, we were in the city and both craving wings so we decided to hit up bubbas. I was worried it was going to be busy but it was only us two, two other groups of two and then four very drunk older men. We sat down and couldn’t tell who was a waitress there as a few were actually sitting with customers. Finally after 5 minutes our waitress came over and took our order. My friend ordered a drink(which apparently tasted like no alcohol was added) and boneless wings. I ordered potato skins and university wings with honey garlic sauce. Our potato skins came out, they were very bland. Just cheese, green onion on them(we asked for no bacon as my friends a vegetarian) i’ve had much better ones at a restaurant not to far from these guys. Our wings came out, and i was really enjoying them until i got through the top four, once i got to the bottom of my wings all i could taste was salt. I looked under my wings and i could actually see granulates of salt sitting in the honey garlic sauce. I’m not sure if this is a new thing or a mistake but i wasn’t pleased. Now during our whole meal the four drunk guys were loud, obnoxious and cat calling these two waitresses. Now from other bars i’ve been in, and shows i’ve watched normally these people are cut off and asked to leave. Especially if they are making customers uncomfortable! They were served more drinks, the waitresses even sat with them and carried on with them. I’m starting to understand why they had to downsize. I’ll be sticking with the bedford location for sure!

If you have celiac or other gluten intolerance, STEERCLEAR! This is a good place to go to watch sports and have a drink, and an ok place to eat if you have no food restrictions. After a conversation with the server about gluten, I ordered a club sandwich on «gluten free» bread with mashed potatoes, because the french fries are cooked in the same fryer as the breaded fried foods.(Note: the chicken wings that aren’t breaded are also cooked in the same fryer as the wings that are breaded.) I’m pretty sure my bread was not gluten free or they did something otherwise to contaminate my food because I haven’t been so sick in over 10 years! And I eat at restaurants A LOT! But this will not be one that I ever eat at again.(Along with the Argyle, btw)

Was here on a Monday night, quiet sports night, but I didn’t expect to be amongst only 4 other people eating. To say it was quiet is an understatement(I had read that in an earlier review as well). We went to Bubba Ray’s because we wanted Wings, and we were glad we did. The wings were excellent and their choice for sauces was incredible. Definitely something for every taste palate. We decided to try the Hot, Honey BBQ, Garlic Butter and Parmesan, and they were all excellent. Decent selection of beer, and large screen TV’s were everywhere. When we asked the waitress why it was so quiet, she said the road construction has hurt business(access was only from the side street) and it was Monday. She said Wing night(Thursday’s) the place is hopping.

Love the open garage door windows upstairs. Super cool to sit on the bench and look out the window. Pitchers are pretty cheap. Good positive crowd. Boneless wings are to die for. We have a honey mustard sauce that had hot sauce in it as well. So good!!! Those wings were great. Will go back just for the wings alone. The only reason I’m giving it 4 stars is because when it says its a sports bar, it truly is. It’s loud and tvs with sports on all around. Not really my thing.

Turn down the tvs! No one wants to sit and listen to commercials. I love sports and I understand the games are on too, but commercials over big speakers makes me leave and not want to come back. Great wings, best around. Those long burgers suck, just make a regular burger.

Fun atmosphere. Great if you wanna watch the game. Staff isnt overly friendly, boarder line rude. But otherwise you get what you expect with a sports bar

Our first time to Halifax and we stopped into Bubba Ray’s on a whim. The meal was tasty, the service was fabulous and the atmosphere was great! The Jacked Bubba burger was good and very filling as was the Bubba dog. The windows were wide open so we could see and hear all that was happening! My husband enjoyed the beer while I tried a cocktail — the Line Drive… yum!

Bubba’s is probably my favorite place in Halifax to catch a game. As most of us know, there are tonnes of TV’s, lots of space and an upbeat and fun atmosphere. The wings are fantastic. My mission is to try each and every sauce, and I must say that I am well on my well there. Honey awesome… mmmmm ;) I cannot really say that the rest of the menu lives up to the wings. Except maybe the deep fried pickles… simply amazing;) As for the beer: it is plentiful, cheap and cold. Exactly how it should be in a sports bar. I know in the past there have been some service issues, which I truly believe they have worked really hard to correct. Everything seems so much faster, professional and friendly lately. All in all, Bubba’s gets a solid four stars for service, atmosphere and wings. Grab a seat by the open window in the summer if you can. Catch the game, chat with friends and enjoy some stellar people watching all at the same time.

One of the best sports bars I have been to in the city. Great service and a very energetic atmosphere. Thursday nights are my favourite!

Awesome wings! Lots of TV’s for viewing all the games you want! Smaller than the Oasis across the street, but I’ll take Bubba Ray’s over that dirty basement ANY day! I’m very excited and have high hopes for what they have in store for the World Cup 2014!

I remember not being overly impressed by Bubba Ray’s wings on wing night Thursdays. But, after going on a non-wing night and getting wings, I’m super impressed. It could have been that they weren’t made in bulk, maybe? But they were very tasty this time! Big, meaty and covered in sauce — I think we ordered the ‘university’ style, battered chicken wings, in medium(Yum!) Obviously not as cheap as they are on Thursdays, but still very reasonable, I thought($ 12.00 for a pound; around 12 wings) Cheap beer — good atmosphere — awesome service!

We went in and waited 15 minutes at our table but the servers seemed more interested in socializing with each other at the bar than doing their jobs and, you know, actually serving the f*cking customers. No one came to our table so we left hungry and disappointed. Never again. Would give this abomination of a place –5 stars if I could.

Oh my, where do I begin… Oh yes, I know exactly where! I came here one night with some friends for wing night and cheap pitchers; it was a pleasant enough evening, the variety of sauces for the wings was a little over the top, but it was a satisfying evening on the whole. I paid my bill as a pre-authorized credit card payment, allotting a percent for the tip. I checked my account two days later and find that the amount charged to my card was about two dollars more than I authorized. I called and spoke to the manager, stating that it appeared the waitress had inflated her tip, possibly thinking no one would notice a couple dollars here and there. He explained that she put the amount through correctly and that there must be something ‘funny’ going on with the machine. The money was left in an envelope for me to pick up(the bare minimum of what I’d expect in a situation like this). A couple weeks later, the same thing happened again; it was only one dollar, I didn’t bother calling this time, and at this point, I didn’t intend on going back. However, I convinced myself to give it another try when my friend invited me out and I happened to be having a simultaneous craving for wings(an irresistible combo), so I went out, had some wings and a decently good time. Thinking I would avoid the tip-gouging, I’d elected to pay with debit and then went on my way. Fast forward to 20 minutes later, and my friend texting me asking if I’d paid, as the waitress was saying I didn’t, and wouldn’t let her leave unless she paid my bill. I had already gone home, so I called the restaurant where I explained the situation to the manager, who told me he’d straighten it out, and not to worry about it. Half an hour later, my friend is still texting me that they won’t let her leave. I call again. At this point the manager starts probing about who I paid, where I paid, whether the machine had a chord or not, proceeds to call me a liar, and bans me from his restaurant. I tell him I will come in with a statement in the morning, showing that I’d paid, to which he replies ‘don’t bother!’. I went in anyway, showed him a copy of my statement, printed it off so he could keep it, highlighted the bill amount, and showed him very clearly where the money was taken from my account. He then says he’ll pass it on and see if ‘his higher-up’ will reconsider their decision of banning me(wait, weren’t YOU the one that banned me? Yes, you were!). He took my information, and I never heard back from them. No apology; nothing. My friend was held against her will and told she couldn’t leave until the(already paid) bill was paid again. So, between the two of us, we’ve been robbed by this place(twice), called a liar, detained, and then banned(for paying?) because someone at the bar lost my bill. Suffice it to say, I will NEVER be going back here, and I am making sure to tell everyone how this place is full of tip-inflating, double-billing, accusatory crooks. Very poor management; unacceptable service and treatment.

Me and the Mrs were first time visitors to Halifax and decided to find a place to go and watch the UFC. Bubba Rays was nice and close to our hotel so we paid the $ 10 cover charge and chose a nice seat in front of the TV. Things were fine until we were assigned the most miserable server in history. «Jaclyn», you have achieved the amazing feat of being hands down the rudest server we have ever encountered, and believe us, we go out to bars A LOT. Dropping off our drinks and simply turning her back and walking away without asking if we needed anything else, combined with a sneering attitude that made it seem like we were a huge inconvenience any time we asked for anything, it was honestly just pathetic. Asked us originally when we were seated if we wanted to order food and when we said«not right now», from this point on she was non existent and extremely rude and unhelpful for the rest of the night. And it wasn’t just us, she was scolding a large table of young people as if they were small children, to which we would all look at each other after she left and say«WTF is her problem?» Every time she dropped something off we would try and be extra polite with our Thank You’s to see if we could even get a positive reaction, but nope. We would be waiting for service and see her standing around just typing away on her blackberry like a teenager instead of taking care of the paying customers Look I understand people have bad days but there is no excuse for taking it out on us, especially after racking up an $ 85 food and drink bill. We NEVER leave less than 15% generally but this time we only left $ 5 and it was still way too generous. A tip to the owners or manager of Bubba Rays: be careful how you treat your tourists, I’ll be making sure word gets out to whoever I can about an overall shit experience. PS: the wings were extremely expensive at 11.99 a lb. plus .79 just to make them saucy, and very average Good luck, you’re gonna need it with staff like Jaclyn working there.

So far, this is the best sports bar!(that I’ve been to) The servers are super friendly but sometimes slow. The beer is cold, and always flowing! They have some decent deals on pitchers(if you like Canadian and Coors!) Now lets talk wings. Being from Alberta I am used to having cheap wings. Not Nova Scotia cheap(I’m sorry .50-.70 cents a wing is NOT cheap!). But for the price you get a really good wing! You have your choices of breaded, no breading, big breaded, spicy, garlic and boneless. And if that isn’t hard enough for you there is also 58-ish sauces! Seriously. I counted once, but I was also drinking so don’t take my word for it… So head there and get your fingers dripping with sauce… wait that sounds bad

Bubba Ray’s is a sports bar paradise located in the heart of Spring Garden Road; just across from its fellow competitor, The Oasis. Since it was NFL Sunday I wanted to get to the bar in plenty of time in order to secure a good seat — it was a smart decision — as a few dozen people started to make their way to the bar just after the 2:00 kickoff. There is a greater selection of food than the Oasis and three times as many TVs, so it would be impossible to miss out on your favourite team’s game; in addition, the service is quite good and the girl was friendly and a football fan to boot. I had a clubhouse and fries with a Molson Canadian on this day and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was quite good and although it got more rowdy as the day went on and more alcohol was consumed, it was all in good fun and I look forward to coming back in a couple of weeks.

A few weeks ago, my husband and I were on the hunt for some good wings. Reading the reviews for Bubba Ray’s, we thoughts we’d give them a second try. we were not pleased the first time. The place was not very busy that evening, though the service was not quite up to par. A bit slow plus a drink forgotten until we were about ready for the bill and, when she asked if I still wanted it, I declined. Of course, when the bill came the drink was still on it. It was eventually removed. When the wings came, they were(I’m sure) cooked as required by food safety standards but soggy and could have used a bit longer in the fryer to crisp them and cook off the remaining fat. The sauces we chose were the Jerk, Suicide, Citrus Wing Zinger. The Suicide was nothing to write home about, but the other two were quite enjoyable and helped to keep this from being a 1-Star review. I did appreciate that the wash-room was clean and had a much loved excellerator hand dryer. There were plenty of TVs with sports programming and a few options to choose from. I can see how some would like this sports bar for a few drinks with a group of friends while watching a game, but I don’t think we will give them a third try. I’ve definitely had better. Seems as though it’s impossible to find decent wings in this city.

Sports bars and I don’t come in contact with each other very often, so I’m not a frequent visitor to this spot. In fact, last night was my first visit since just after they opened. As far as sports bars go(and based on my limited experience with them), this place is pretty good. It’s not dark, dingy and depressing like some others are. Decent service, lots of seating, a wealth of TVs and a multitude of beer and wings — I think they got the sports bar thing down pat. The selection of wings is overwhelming. I didn’t have wings last night but last time I remember having a hard time between wanting to be adventurous and wanting to make sure I got wings I’d enjoy. This is not a bad thing — just something to be aware of. Maybe peruse the menu online before you go so you’re prepared. They have an affordable selection of beer, both on tap and bottled. I would like to see more local selection. Also, my Rickards Red draught could have been a bit more chilled last night. But you guys? They have deep fried dill pickles. DEEPFRIEDDILLPICKLES! So bad, but soooo good. It’s a convenient spot to grab a pre-movie drink or bite. And with deep fried pickles on the menu, I’ll be having another pre-movie visit real soon. Like tomorrow.
