So this review is long overdue, but i absolutely had to write in. So i’m the kind of person who has had an obscene amount of hair disasters, back to back. Needless to say, that’s made me quite picky when it comes to stylists and hairdressers. After combing through the crevices of Halifax, and going to a *bunch* of consultations all over the place, i finally decided to give Alicia Melaneson a try. I met up with Zipora for my consultation and we discussed going for a balayage. I told her i was a hair virgin and that i was absolutely against getting anything that might damage the integrity of my hair. Zipora was very accommodating and super easy to talk to. At my first consultation we discussed my options(since i had some remnants of henna in my hair). At my second consultation we did a strand test, my third consultation we finally decided to pick what we were going for and then we finally colored my hair. It was a long-long process, it took up to 3 hours. But Zipora was amazing, she was so patient and so helpful and she absolutely allayed all my concerns. She also recommended getting the olaplex treatment to prevent breakage and splits. Since i’m super dark, we had to bleach the life out of my strands. The olaplex was lovely and the final result for the hair was amazing. I was kind of in shock the first few weeks, because(hello, hair virgin for 25 years) but once i started getting used to the change, i loved it. Zipora was really nice and she even texted me a few days later to make sure that i was comfortable with my hair, and if i needed any tips or anything on maintenance. I really appreciate that, because its this attitude to go above and beyond that helps make people stick out. I specifically asked for something low maintenance since i didn’t want to be back in the chair within a few weeks and honestly, 8 months later and i still haven’t had to go back for toning or anything. The olaplex seemed to last only for the first two weeks though and after that i was basically working away and constantly hydrating my hair. Though the top of my head was fine, my tips(which were recovering form previous heat damage) did manage to get some splits(which i guess was expected). So, thumbs up, and especially thumbs up to Zipora because she was an absolute delight!
