I’ve now ordered take-away from King Wok twice. Though I am often quite skeptical of online ordering, I got a confirmation email quickly that confirmed that the business had received my order and the pick-up time. I chose them because I was feeling nostalgic and looking for some Canadiana-Chinese as opposed to authentic food. I ordered sweet and sour chicken balls along with fried rice. The food was good, there was no hint of rancid oil, the chicken balls were well balanced(some places they’re all bread) and the sweet and sour sauce was packed separately so that the chicken balls didn’t get soggy. When I arrived, my order was ready and the man who helped me both times, possible the owner, is exceptionally friendly. I certainly recommend King Wok if you’re in the area and in the mood for this type of food.

My brother ordered dinner from King Wok recently and I was over so I got to eat some :) Overall the food was pretty good. We had open-ended egg rolls($ 1.40 each), General Tao’s Chicken($ 11.50), Crispy Beef($ 11.50), and Curry Squid($ 11.95). Since our order was over $ 35 we got a free order of Chicken Fried Rice. They also gave us a free small order of plain white rice. The egg rolls were full of meat. The filling was ground pork, cabbage, and onions. They were a bit greasy, but that is to be expected. I thought they were good. They were crispy and hot. The General Tao’s Chicken was also good. Not too much batter, and the meat wasn’t too fatty. The sauce was sweet and tangy. This dish had green peppers, onions and carrots mixed in. The portion was a good size and there was a lot of meat in relation to the vegetables. The Crispy Beef looked very similar to the General Tao’s Chicken. The beef was breaded and deep fried. The sauce was different though — less sweet. The vegetables were also different: broccoli, cauliflower, celery, onions and carrots. The beef was tender and not tough. The breading was also light. I’m not a curry squid fan but I had some so I could Unilocal about it for you guys :) If you like curry squid you might like this dish. It was full of squid and the squid was soft and tender and not chewy at all. The squid pieces were also properly cleaned, no yucky stuff. The vegetables it came with were celery, green peppers and onions. The curry sauce was a bit runny though, and it was pretty mild, not really spicy. The Chicken Fried Rice was pretty good for a freebie. It was mostly rice with soy sauce though. There were some really small pieces of chicken and green onion in it. It wasn’t too salty or greasy though like at some places. King Wok is a pretty good Chinese restaurant for Orleans. We got delivery so I don’t know what the restaurant is like. They got our order right and delivery was quick, so no complaints about service.
