Great fresh bread and baked goods and a good place for a quick and cheap lunch. The staff is also super friendly and welcoming, always look forward to visiting.

Very disappointed. Just ordered the chicken sandwich. The chicken was poor quality dark thigh meat and not breast meat. It was gristly and gross. I couldn’t eat it. Stoney’s, Panera and Artisanos are all better choices. If you’re looking just for bread it may be ok but the ingredients used for the sandwiches are low quality. This is my second time ordering a sandwich from there and was disappointed the first time but thought I’d give it another try. I will not go there again.

Definitely can’t say anything bad about Tatsu’s. It’s a great place to go during lunch time when you’re at school(since the bakery is right by Humber Lakeshore). I’m a big fan of their sandwiches, especially the veggie one. The bread and the ingredients are so fresh and delicious, I find myself craving it from time to time. I have yet to try their pastries! If you get there early enough in the morning, you can get your hands on their discounted loaves which go pretty fast. The staff is very friendly, and always smiling. It’s a great hang out spot for college students and neighbourhood locals. There’s definitely a regular crowd that goes here, this bakery has a real community feel to it.

Very good quality bread. They have a vast variety of vegan options that may appeal to all you vegan jedi out there.

I’ve gone here a few times. It’s a convenient location being across from Humber Lakeshore. The customer service is always great and the bread is super tasty

Okay first of all, to the reviewer Andrew R. who said«if we’re lucky someone will turn this into a second cup or starbucks», you sir, are what is wrong with this world. Please go away. Just because the inside of this place doesn’t appeal to the corporate pop standard of the crap food chains you love, and are brainwashed by, doesn’t mean Tatsu’s is dirty. The interior has certainly more of a 1970’s brown tile look, but whatever, good lord, get your head out of your arse mate. Yeah the coffee here isn’t amazing, but I’d take it any day over that processed dribly diarrhea starbucks or tim hortons serve. OK, let’s talk about the food and stuff. The food here is good, not great, not amazing, but good. The sandwiches they offer are all quite tasty and super cheap, especially considering you’d pay twice as much next door at the Subway for terrible processed chemical garbage that I’m sure our friend Andrew R. would be happy to dine on. Tatsu’s bake all their own bread and uses fresh ingredients in their products. That alone should sway anybody thinking of hitting the Subway next door. Right? Wrong. So many people, mostly college and high school students do Subway instead, why? because they’re dumb fat farts. Subway is the nastiest crap you can eat. AND it’s more expensive! Subway is actually worse for you than McDonalds. Look up the science bro’s! I used to come to Tatsu’s occasionally for lunch when I went to Humber down the street. I also came to Tatsu’s to snatch up a few loaves of their day-old half price bread which was always good, like $ 1.25 for a big loaf of bread is a sweet deal. Again, don’t expect to be blown away or anything, but it does the job. Also I wouldn’t recommend their desserts(pastries and stuff), as I’ve never been impressed. Stick to the savoury stuff and you’re good. Friendly staff too. I’m perfectly happy with this place being where it is, all the dumb ass people who go to Subway instead of this place are bloody derps!

I love this place. I always go here when I’m in the area. Their bread in their sandwiches is so fresh and their coffee is delicious.

This place is just alright. The food is average and stuff you could probably make it home for five dollars or less. That’s probably true of any coffee like joint like this place or Starbucks or Tim Hortons. The main difference is that they inside of this place looks horrible. Any place that’s dirty on the inside and then as boxes everywhere is not a place that I want to eat. If were lucky someone will turn this into a second cup or Starbucks.

This place is family owned. The service is excellent and while having lunch there one day, the owner came out and gave us samples of her freshly baked bread with hummus. She made the dip and bread herself. They have a regular stable of customers and a large variety of foods for such a small bakery lined up everywhere from behind glass counters to out on a table. The price is okay. Not very expensive but not cheap either. I would prefer bigger portions for the price but I tend to eat a lot. This place is located very close to the Humber Lakeshore campus. Since the food at the actual lakeshore campus is absolutely disgusting and despicable, I would recommend people looking for a healthier and better alternative to walk outside and venture here. You won’t be disappointed.

I order almond croissants everywhere so this review is based solely on that item. The croissant was about average but not as buttery and flaky as I prefer. Also the almond filling was a tad scarce… therefore lacked in almond flavour. I may try a quiche or coffee next time.

They serve good quality coffee! Their spinach bagels are a hit! So delicious! Sometimes I get the veggie sandwich which is as well my favourite Good place to sit, bring your kids, or have a date lol It is a gallery as well, so you may enjoy different art while you are snacking. There is always something displayed(photography or paintings)

Hmmm… I’m mixed about this place. Since there were no pics on Unilocal,I was a bit held aback by Tatsu’s interior: mid/late 70s, brown ‘n yellow theme, reminiscent of an old coffee shop. So Tatsu is more of a neighbourhood bakery than places like Monastery/San Remo. With the exception of some baked goods on a table(pictured), everything else was behind glass, re: cakes, tarts, cookies, strudel, etc. They serve Reunion Island coffee which was good. I got a Chocolate Croissant($ 2.25), Apple Strudel(under $ 3), & coffee to-go. Croissant was a tad on the dry side, but still flaky. The pastry for the Apple Strudel had softened and the apple filling was on the sweeter side. It was alright. They did have big cookies for $ 1 which is fairly inexpensive. Overall, baked good were alright, nothing I’d drive out of my way for, but items that I’d pick up if I were in the area. Lady behind the counter was very friendly and helpful, so that bumped up my *s! Parking: It’s located in a small, dead-ish plaza, with a dozen or so spots.

Tatsu’s Bread is honestly all you could ever want in a bakery. I often come here for coffee and one of their delicious Hot Crossed Buns, or croissants. They have a great selection of coffees, and the quality far surpasses anything else in the area. Their«Bread and Butter»(pun intended) is obviously their bread, and this is where this bakery shines. Baguettes are slightly expensive but well worth it, and the bread that they use for sandwiches is delicious, and never fails to be the best part of a meal. Service is surprisingly quick, and always friendly. The interior is well designed, and when seating is available it is always nice to relax with a newspaper. Check it out !

I really like this place, they have delicious food and very nice people. Can be a bit expensive but they have a wide variety of items at different prices. The coffee is awesome and a good price(try the caramel one), I recommend the big cookies(some are only $ 1) and the amazing chocolate croissant. The people who work there are friendly and fast!

Between the two of us, my husband and I are pretty regular patrons here. Their spinach bagels and also their potato bagels are fabulous and worth a try, based on your preference of spinach or potato stuffins(my preference is generally for the spinach variety, but they’re both good). Gingersnaps are nice and gingery, but a bit oily for my liking. Yummy apricot or berry bread pudding, good carrot cake, and fabulous fresh sandwiches and panini(some options include brie, smoked salmon, etc.). Also, the Tatsu burger is a Japanese-style patty(different meat mix in the patty, but tasty) in an organic whole wheat bun. All good and yummy stuff. I believe all the stuff there is organic, and the coffee is fair trade. On weekends, they often have Humber music students playing jazz or other contemporary music in the small seating area, which further adds to the neighborhood ambiance(the Humber music program is based just across the street, and sometimes one also runs into luminaries from the Canadian Jazz music scene there as well. Many reknowned and top-tier musicians teach in the program and have been known to frequent Tatsu’s on their breaks). They’re closed on Mondays. Definitely recommended if you’re in the area.

We’d been meaning to check this place out for a while, and after finally taking a peak at the website we decided to go in for breakfast one Saturday morning. They have a great selection of breakfast pastries, breads and other treats. We picked their sun dried tomato quiche and were really happy with it. They have a small eat in area with nice little tables for 2 or 4. They also have a couple of large squisy arm chairs, which seemed to be a better choice if you were just stopping in for a drink and maybe a pastry. The atmosphere is pretty quaint and we enjoyed eating there. The staff was very friendly as well! Before we left we got a baguette to bring home that night for dinner, and also some spinach bagels for breakfast the next day. Everything was absolutely delicious! We’re glad we finally decided to go in — we’ll be going back for sure.
