Specialties

The Faculty of Physical Education and Recreation is pleased to offer a wide range of Green & Gold Summer Camps. These camps are part of a comprehensive Athlete Pathway that makes it possible for our participants to explore, engage, and ultimately excel in sport. All aspects of our Athlete Pathway, including our Summer Camps, have been designed to align with the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) framework, which has become the official model for athlete development in Canada.

The first three stages of LTAD (Active-Start, FUNdamentals, and Learn-to-Train) are intended to build Physical Literacy in young athletes. Defined as having the confidence and competence to participate in a variety of sports and activities, Physical Literacy forms an essential foundation for future participation and success. Physical Literacy is a combination of general athletic skills and sport-specific skills, and our Green & Gold Summer Camps program has been developed with both of these elements in mind.

For example, our new AIM Camps are designed to build a strong general athletic foundation in our participants, with an emphasis on the fundamental movement skills of agility, balance, coordination, running, jumping, throwing, catching, striking, and kicking, which underpin all sports. These offerings are complimented by our Sports Camps, which help to build specific skills in sports like basketball, climbing, curling, golf, hockey, soccer, swimming, tennis, volleyball, and more
