don’t bother small selection in store I ordered shoes over a couple weeks ago they never called me so I called them and they’re like yeah we have your order also haven’t placed your order That’s unacceptable I placed it over 2 weeks ago they did not seem concerned ask to speak to the store manager then she put someone on the phone who admitted that she was not the manager she was not a supervisor A customer wants shoes you won’t order them? How are you even a shoe store are you even a shoe store? Are you a front. … is that why what’s on the front of your building«shoes» are not a priority?

Mediocre at best. Two stars is pretty generous. Let me start off by saying that not once was I greeted. I thought it was just me, but then other people came in after me, and they weren’t greeted either. Where were the employees? Right smack in the middle of the store talking about God knows what. Seriously? Finally after about 5 mins, one of the clerks finally noticed me and asked me if I was ok. Unfortunately every style I liked didn’t come in a size 5 or were sold out. Damn my small feet! But even if I did find something, I wouldn’t want to give them my money. If you don’t acknowledge me from the get-go, then you don’t deserve my money. Shame on you TomKat shoes.

Now this is a shoe store that knows how to sell shoes! Formerly known as Wener Shoes just a few steps down the same street, Tomkat Shoes carries quality brand shoes, most of which I believe are made in Europe and also hard to find elsewhere in the city. I needed(okay, really wanted) a new pair of black boots and was impressed with their selection. Ankle booties, knee-highs, over-the-knee boots, they had a variety for each. You almost need to take your time here, to make sure you don’t miss anything as you cover the store from front to back. A salesperson approached me after a while and asked me if I needed help. I told him what kind of boots I was looking for and he immediately pointed to a few suggestions. I politely declined a few and he didn’t mind, just made other recommendations to substitute. They didn’t have my size 5 in the two pairs I liked because the particular brands don’t make many in that size I suppose, but the salesperson suggested fitting the boot with a liner. He went back and forth from the floor to the back room, finding my boots in the next best size and some liners. With each boot, he helped me to put them on. You know it’s a serious shoe store when the staff help you put on the shoes! Whoa, talk about service! In the end, I couldn’t decide between the two pairs but since they were both on sale anyway … I got both. That’s what he said too when I couldn’t decide. «Just get both, you are worth it!» I know, I know, it’s a classic sales tactic. And it worked. Yes, I am weak. They also sprayed down my new boots to protect them and threw in the liners for free. So Tomkat gets big points for selection and service. I will definitely be back to see what their summer selection is like!
