Who doesn’t like the sawmill sauce. Sunday buffet on long weekends are always a treat.

Years ago this was an upscale classy steakhouse now it’s beyond dated, the space is beautiful but the décor is stale and dated, the menu is out of the 80’s they need a new corporate chef. The prices are ok but the buffet is overrated. They have to get some freshness and reinvent themselves. Great local owner who is well known in community but they need to update badly.

Great service, but prices are quite high($ 35 – 40 for a steak) Food is excellent, but not unique.

We went here for lunch with a supplier yesterday. My biggest complaint was they forgot my prime rib so I had to sit and wait while everyone else ate. When it came it was pretty good. But it’s prime rib. prime rib starts at pretty good. Everyone else seemed happy with what they got. however. Everything was al la carte. So if you wanted veggies you had to ask. And I picked poorly for my side. Thought I was ordering a steak topped with blue cheese and mushrooms on a bed of spinach. But. the mushrooms cheese and spinach were all cooked together in a gravy to pour over. All in all an OK experience. But for what is cost it should have been better.

Been here a few times, most recently for a Sunday brunch with about 20 people. Room was reserved & it was a nice space with décor that is dark but traditional. But plenty of bench space behind the main tables to hold your purses, bags and winter coats. Buffet selection is always great with an omelette station available, plus there’s a decent amount of hot lunch food there for those who aren’t fans of breakfast items like myself. There’s also a fair bit of seafood at the buffet too: smoked salmon, seafood pasta, broiled fish fillets, etc. They also have a nice assortment of cakes & desserts laid out including a chocolate fountain station. It was almost like going to dinner! The service was also exceptional. Constantly providing beverage service & clearing plates without giving you a sense of feeling rushed either. The only thing I should mention is that the entrance & exit are both on the same street of a busy road & parking does fill up around lunch. The lot was pretty empty around 10:30am though.

HORRIFIC service, worst I’ve ever had anywhere. I’ve never written a review before and am not one to complain but this was too bad not to. DONOT go here with a larger group of people. We went to the Moose Factory on December 11, 2015 with a group of 14 people for a Christmas work dinner. Our reservation was for 8:15 and we left just after 11. In the 3 hours we were there, we did not get any refills on drinks or water. Basically after 8:30 no one had anything to drink for the next 2 and a half hours. Some people at our table ordered appetizers which did not show up and was completely forgotten about. Then it took about 45 minutes for the server to clear our plates once we had finished and ask if anyone wanted dessert. Three people at our table were completely ignored when they said they did want dessert. The apple dessert was completely inedible due to the under cooked apples and hard oatmeal. Finally when we were all ready to leave it took an hour to get our bills. Every person at our table got at least 4 – 5 different versions of their bill because they couldn’t figure out what anyone had and most people were over charged. The servers were very unapologetic and seemed irritated at THEIR inconvenience of having to fix the bills too many times. By the time we left we were literally the last people in the restaurant! The only reason why they got a tip was because it was already included because of the amount of people in our group. Everyone in the group of 14 agreed that they should not have received any sort of gratuity! I would highly recommend not going here unless you want terrible service and don’t mind being way overcharged for food you didn’t even order.

We went here for the Sunday dinner buffet recently and it was a good experience overall. While we were some of the first customers in the restaurant when we arrived, the dining area was nice and quiet throughout our meal. Staff were great at keeping our water glasses full and the buffet itself was well priced for the variety. I loved the variety of salads, and the soup was rather good as was the pasta. The sushi was run of the mill buffet sushi… and I was surprisingly less fond of some of the dishes than I expected… but that is the regular thing that happens at a buffet. I adored the chicken stuffed with brie however — it really wowed my taste buds, and there was tons of dessert available! If only I had a stomach large enough to eat it all! The décor was a little random — but given the clientelle and the fact that the dining room was much more up to date than the lounge(which featured dated looking lighting fixtures), I’m not surprised. I did see some families dining and the high chairs looked really helpful. I really thought that the speed of service was great — they removed out used plates quickly and efficiently — that the selection in the buffet was good, and that the food was on a whole quite delicious. It’s not a place I’d visit every day, certainly, but for a once and a while treat, I highly recommend this restaurant.

This review is specifically for Sunday Brunch. It runs from 10 – 2 and is about $ 25 pp. I have been a few times, and it keeps getting better and better. Today we were charmed by our server, Brett, who not only provided us with endless cups of hot caffine, and kept us laughing throughout. It’s really nice to meet servers who actually enjoy people. Kudos to Brett!(Also he made us a couple fantastic caesars, we will be back for more of those on hockey nights.) The food today has been fantastic. I was really impressed with the perfect cook on the Basa with the delicate orange sauce, the roast was nicely seasoned, and the lasagna was bursting with tangy goodness. The clam chowder was thick and creamy and warm, perfect on a November morning. Don’t get me started on the dessert table… the sticky toffee pudding was to die for. Pro tip: once you have a good potion of warm toffee pudding, head over across from the omlette bar where there is a big bowl of whipped cream. Plop a dollop on top to create a perfectly balanced sweet ending to a delicious meal. I don’t usually expect bags of flavor from all-you-can-eat buffets, nor do I expect class. But Moose Factory has ticked both of those boxes, and friendly staff to boot. They keep the food replenished and there is a very popular omelette bar. Normally, I go to the Moose Factory for the steak sauce. The food is just a vehicle for this delightful sauce. But today, the food was SO good, I didn’t have any desire or need to drown anything in the liquid gold. So the bottle sits on the table, lonely and full, because the chef did such a good job of the food. Sorry my beloved Steak Sauce. Next time.

Service is king. Brett, our server this morning, made the difference between a competent Sunday brunch buffet and a need to return. That’s good service. He’s also a bartender, a good one, demonstrated by a flawless execution of a Caesar, the sweet and savory present. The buffet is huge, with both breakfast and lunch selections(walk down each row of food to scope out the offerings), a carvery of several meats, omelette bar, as well as a dessert table with a chocolate fountain, regular and peanut butter nanaimo bars, cheesecakes, etc. Bottomless coffee & juices. Sesame steak sauce that goes well with surprising number of things. My Honeybunny came for the sauce and stayed for the buffet.(In her reviews you’ll see it referred to as «crack».) And Brett.

Been here several times over the years. Brunch buffet is indeed fairly well and certainly a reasonable price. Dinners have never disapointed. Compared to the Sawmill… which has mushroomed into almost an overdone franchise over the years, Mr. Goodchild’s Moose Factory has seemingly stayed the course. It is deffinitely his stand out offering in this market which is flooded with middle of the road eateries. Worthy of everyone’s chance to be sure.

Ohh the Moose Factory! Always a favourite of mine, and I was so excited this week when my grandma chose to come here for her birthday dinner– a big shock, as she rarely deviates from her favourite restaurant(Mikado). First of all, the landscaping outside of this building has obviously had a lot of TLC put into it. They have somewhat of a garden on the east side of the building, and what looks to be the nicest patio in Edmonton(which, sadly, is now closed for the season). The inside is also impressive, with a huge layout, comfortable seating, enormous and elaborate chandeliers, and, of course, mounted moose heads. We ordered some wine and calamari to start, and the wine was good, but the calamari had lemon slices disguised as calamari mixed in, and two family members ended up with an entire lemon slice in their mouth! Some of the calamari was also quite chewy, but overall tasted quite good. Just watch out for those lemons, seriously. Our entrees were just what I expected from the Moose Factory. I am always excited about coming here because I am by no means a red meat fan– I absolutely never eat steak. But the first time I ever came here my date was having steak and I had a bite. It changed my entire view on steak, and I spent the rest of my meal lamenting that I had ordered pasta(which, I must say, was also quite good). So, of course, last night I ordered a steak. I got the top sirloin, two family members got prime rib, one a rib eye, and one the capellini pescatore(seafood angel hair pasta in cream sauce). We all had an amazing meal, with zero complaints at the table(other than being stuffed). Our server was also quick, efficient, and witty with a bit of sass. It was just such a great experience, and I hope this place gets all the business they deserve. It really is an exceptional experience. Tip: Always. ALWAYS. Put the sesame sauce on your steak. You won’t regret it.

Came out yesterday to help celebrate a friends birthday. The staff handled the group very well. Only complaint was about the prime rib which majority of us at our one table ordered. Asked for medium rare when ordering a 8 oz and a 1 lb size portion. Both pieces were medium, medium well and very chewy. I mentioned it to the server and he was quick to see if he could get me another piece, while the manager went on to tell me that they may not have any medium rare(MR) left so what’s left is what you get. I told him if they did not have MR I would’ve ordered something else. The 2nd piece they brought out was a little more rare but still not acceptable. We did not eat much of our meals. We will not be returning, head to The Keg next time you want prime rib!

I ordered the halibut with mash potatoes. The potatoes were quite good. The fish on the other hand was a rather small portion that was pretty bland. This was nothing that would ever make me want to come back here. The annoying part came when the bill arrived. The waiter told our table«A service charge has already been added. This goes out to the restaurant staff. My tip is not included.». Basically he was asking us to tip twice. I verified that was what he was looking for, and he said yes. Suffice it to say he was not given an extra tip. This is a pretty horrible business practise.

I went here for breakfast Saturday with some friends after reading some positive reviews on Unilocal.Nice that they take reservations. We had to ask specifically for breakfast menus after being given only regular menus. When we ordered the waiter was very surprised when we asked for eggs… Not sure why breakfast is such a secret. People arriving after us were advised of the lunch buffet… I may have had that if I had known it existed(I don’t think it was on either menu). The food itself was actually quite good. My eggs Benedict was excellent — beautifully poached eggs, and excellent hollandaise sauce. The restaurant was initially extremely quiet, around noon a ton of people appeared(from the basement?) for the buffet. Perhaps they have conference facilities?

Great buffet options. Good prices. Steak is great. Dont order non steak items. Pay per each side. Nice atmosphere with romantic feeling to it. The moose factory is a steakhouse in the southside. Is dimly lit and pretty dark inside but each table is spaced enough to allow privacy and a nice dinner out without eacesdropping patrons. On the whole… moose factory executes large parties with great ease. From weddings of over 80 people or mini get togethers of 12 or more people. This place does a fabulous job with large groups. Attentive service. Good timing and paced meals. I find this is there best attribute. For couples the place has a bit of a downward slide in service as they typically just forget about you and provide minimal service. Which can kill the entire experience all together. Ive visited on monday nights or on special occasions like valentines day. And it seems to always have subpar service for tables of 2. So be warned if its a special date out bc it seems to be a regular occurance for me. Sunday brunch is amazing here. Fabulous prices well worth the price. It includes unlimited apple or orange juice, tea or coffe. The breakfast selection is good. With made to order omeletes, eggs benedicts, bacon, sausage etc. With better options in the lunch buffet of freshly cut prime rib or ham, pasta, fish, fried chicken with potatoes n veggies. Side options include two soups like a chili carne or clam chowder. The options are fantastic. For dessert theres a chocolate fountain with really fresh fruits, a selection of about 10 cakes or pies and a fabulous bread caramel pudding, jellos, mousse and cookies. But with all this selection the prices are outstanding. $ 24.95 for adults and $ 14.95 for children. Outstanding. All the options were fresh and tasted great. My only vice was that there is quite long lineups for the buffet for mothers day. So try to come 10 before your reservation to avoid the long lines. For dinner the steaks are great. With options like seafood neptune or hollaindaise sauce. Its all super tasty and delicious. Food is good. And on weekdays theres great speacials. Like buy one get one free… or steak and lobster, or free seafood neptune etc… i prefer mondays steak and lobster. Just one gripe. On mothers day i made a reservation for 12 oeople confirmed it twice about the prices…$ 24.95 for adults and $ 14.95 for children. My server when asked said the cost was $ 39.95 each bc it was mothers day. I spoke to the manager and she told me the price quoted on the phone. But my waitress insisted the price was $ 39.95 each. After complaining the manager fixed the problem and scolded her employee for overcharging patrons all day. Yup you heard me she overcharged people over $ 15 a person till 2pm on mothers day. Bc of her mistake i wasted 30 min of my dinner speaking to management and my waitress had to make my bill up 4 times. She obviously could not count and kept overcharging me for more people than in my party. So my tip for this place. Check your bill and count it twice!!!

I can’t believe how many bad reviews! My family took my dad for his birthday. He always wants a good steak, so this is the place he chose. We’ve all been here several times and have never been disappointed. We ordered the scallop and maple bacon sticks as an appetizer. They were so flavorful and made the perfect starter. The complimentary buns and butter were so good they have potential to ruin your appetite before you get your actual meal. 4 out if 5 of us had steak and lobster tails(Tuesday special). The steaks were cooked to perfection and the garlic mashed potatoes were delicious. Even the kale(which might actually be the garnish, was good! OH! And that steak sauce is sooooo good I could literally drink that stuff with a straw… no shame!!! Our waiter was tentative and everything came out with perfect timing. My dad got a free dessert for his bday, as well as we got $ 25 off the bill as a birthday deal. This place might be a little pricey but I really believe you get what you pay for. No complaints here and will definitely be back.

Meh… I use to like this place, however they have a new menu, to which I know why, as they increased the prices of ALL their dishes, not by a little either, a substantial amount! If You go to open table, You will see how much they have changed their prices, which is unfortunate, as I figured this restaurant was spot on prior to this price gouging! Oh well, guess we’ll look for another good steak place in the Edm area…

THELUNCHBUFFETISNOTGLUTENFREEFRIENDLY! We went here today for our work Christmas Lunch. I was told we generally have the buffet as a team. So I informed our server that I was a Celiac and asked if the buffet had GF items. She came and reported to me that only ONE dish was GF and the salads weren’t. Hmmmm I had taken a look at the menu last night online to see what the situation was for me and was pleasantly surprised many items had a GF symbol so I ordered off the menu b/c I HAD too. Anyway I ordered the Capellini Pescatore Garlic butter prawns, scallops, baby lobster, mussels, creamy garlic sauce, angel hair pasta, micro basil, parmesan cheese slivers(Gluten friendly pasta available upon request) the GF pasta was penned, tasted normal. However the mussels were pretty yucky. I ate one left the other one untouched. It was good just not $ 24 good. The place was SUPER packed and LOUD. Unfortunately someone forgot to mention when we made our reservation that we had a minor with us and they put us in the lounge. Before the minor arrived I tried talking to the hostess she couldn’t care less. When the minor arrived her and her mom were seated in the dining room away from us. Even asked the manager to move us they wouldn’t.

Well moose factory I’m not impressed . Not a bad steak, relatively good value. The bernaise sauce($ 3)was not good. We took 1 try and stuck to the free sesame sauce. The garlic mashed potatoes were a good size but for $ 5.50 only an adequate price considering you don’t get sides . Our waiter spent his time doing a «cook at your table«meal and didn’t check on us till our meal was almost done. And it was at 9.08 pm so the restaurant wasn’t busy. Would I go back? Probably not. Is it an awful restaurant? No. I’ve given it 2 stars because I couldn’t give it 2.5 stars

My experience here was better than some of the other reviewers, but it was nothing stellar. We were here for the lunch buffet, and all left satisfied, however I noticed that I was extremely thirsty afterwards(and for the rest of the day). While the food tasted good, the thirst usually means they used WAY too much salt. I’m not going to rush back… but I won’t avoid it, either.
