We come here a lot, staff are the best. It’s so great when you have a coffee shop where they start making your drink when you walk in the door and you’re Facebook friends with your Barista. To be honest I was always a Starbucks coffee guy, but I married a Brit who refused to go there and I found I liked the coffee a second cup a lot better.

What can I say, it’s a pretty standard Second Cup location. I visit it on occasion while on Whyte Avenue(though I’m honestly more likely to frequent other businesses in the area when given the option — it does not stick out as being particularly awesome or bad). That said, when I do visit, the service I get is efficient. So there’s that. And like other Second Cup locations they have a fairly varied menu of non-coffee beverages which I rather do appreciate. The last time I was here I had frozen lemonade which, while overly sweet, was pretty good. This location is pretty lively, and is usually busy.

Staff are awesome and are efficient at what they do best! I’ve never had a poor drink from this location. The café is usually pretty full, as is the outdoor seating. I see a lot of regulars here on a daily basis. The café is in good order, and the condiment bar is well kept considering how busy this location is.

This was very small place, connected to the hotel. Drinks were sloppily made and left something to desired. If you have to use the washroom grab the key card from the far counter.

The intersection of Whyte and Calgary trail as a few coffee shops nearby; Starbucks, Second Cup and the great Block 1912. I like to go to Second Cup to write things and get some stuff done when I need a change of scenery. That and there are too many distractions at home. This one is okay. Nice enough but without the homey feeling like the one at Oliver Square. The food and beverage consistency is the same. Really nothing more to say than that since the experience was merely okay. Nothing great, nothing bad; just run of the mill.

Second Cup on Whyte and a 104th is usually my first choice for coffee, but only when I’m at the intersection of 104th and Whyte. This particular intersection has coffee shops on 3 of the 4 corners and not just one in each corner! There are several options. I like this Second Cup because of this one occasion in the winter of ’09 when I had this terrible experience. I had taken the wrong bus to go to Southgate and was stuck in some weird part of town. It took me 3 hours to find my way back to Whyte ave. after falling a few times in the snow and walking, thinking I’d find another bus stop somewhere else. I was so cold(because obviously I was cavilier enough to think that –20ºC is … meh! and hence, ended up wearing just two layers). My feet were almost frozen and when I finally got back on Whyte, I just stormed into Second Cup for a cup of coffee to ease me out. This is when the day turned into my most embarassing one. None of my credit cards or debit cards were working and I didn’t have any cash either! It was such an embarassing moment and I think the woman at the counter realized how saddened I was. The manliness in me was lost and I was about to break down. She ended up giving me that cup of coffee for free.(I could have been a homeless guy that day, except for the iPod in my hand). Anyway, it was a sweet gesture that she didn’t have to do and I’ve noticed in general that this particular branch of Second Cup has very nice staff. As I’ve been there quite often, I’ve been given large coffees at the price of smalls and that kinda stuff. I like it here. It’s my neighborhood and they make me feel like that too. Who’d expect that from a Second Cup!?!

Well I have to say before I was a Starbucks fan I feel in love with Second Cup. I really loved their hot chocolate. I remember going almost every day after school and studying or just reading at their Jasper Ave location. I loved their comfortable seating right in front of the windows so you can watch people live their lives. Now that I’m older and don’t really go to Second Cup as much as I used to I still like popping in now and then with Curtis. He’s the one who loves Second Cup instead of Starbucks; I go because it makes him happy. He would totally recommend the white chocolate mocha they have. I like their latte with only one shot of espresso. If I do get their hot chocolate I like it half sweet. The café mocha and caramel corretto when its hot but I love them when they are cold! I also really enjoy the London fog, which is really great during cold winter evenings. Their chillers are pretty good; I like the chillatte. Also their strawberry lemonade smoothie is very refreshing on a hot summer day. I also enjoy their cookies and biscotti’s; they go well with the coffee I like to get. The employees are really nice and super friendly. They always have some great suggestions when you want to try something new.

The drinks are pretty standard, but the shop is a little grungier than others. I always see coffee beans spilt on the floor and counter and flies buzzing about. Maybe that’s why the bathroom is on a fly swatter.

During the Fringe, I spent a fair amount of time in this Second Cup drinking frozen strawberry lemonades and working on my laptop, taking advantage of the free wireless internet. The air conditioning and a little area at the back with a few tables and padded seating made it possible to escape the heat, sort of escape the massive crowds and concentrate on getting my work done. It’s definitely not my favourite Second Cup just because the layout offers little privacy — every seat is either in a high-traffic spot or cuddled up next to a floor-to-ceiling window — but this summer, I certainly was grateful that it was around.
