Today was my first visit to Saccomanno’s and I have to tell you — the food was impressive! I tried both the lasagna and the Margherita pizza and I would definitely have them again, as well as recommend both these items to others! The décor itself isn’t the most exciting, but I can guarantee the food more than makes up for it!

ordered chicken parmesan and lasagna. Not sure what we got, chicken was nowhere near cooked well and the sauce tasted like it was dumped out of a can. Food wasn’t hot and the lasagna was nine layers of overcooked noddles under cold watery sauce(non existent filling) Pizza was the only saving grace. It cost alot for food we couldn’t eat. Sad times.

This is the best pizza in Edmonton. The dough is perfect, the sauce is superb, the cheese gooey fresh, the toppings are great. The simplicity is the closest to what is found in NYC. The pizza is even better when the Grandfather makes you a pie as opposed to the Grandson.

I used to live right by here a year ago, and my roommates and I would order pizza from here about every other week. Delicious pizza that almost makes me miss living in the ghetto. 4 stars because their grocery store fruit is always REALLY bruised.

So this place is kinda cool I guess. It’s half restaurant, half deli shop. Think about the Italian center chain but smaller. Really well priced on pastas, sauces, fresh pizza dough, etc. The reason for the 3 star rating is it was dirty in my opinion. Like the girlfriend and I sat at the cleanest table I could find. There was crumbs and plates and glasses all over the other tables. I can understand a lunch rush but we showed up at about 4:00 Pm. And we watched some Philipino lady sitting and making pizza boxes instead of maybe cleaning the tables? Another really really sore point with me was there was a small Philipino boy, maybe 4 years old, watching Treehouse on the only tv in the place while playing with a wad of dough and running around the place. Once in a while trying to talk to us while we were eating. Don’t get me wrong, super cute little boy, but I was there for a meal not to babysit. Anyways the food. We ordered a pizza as the reviews recommend. Actually really good. For a half Hawaiian, half pepperoni mushroom with green peppers and with enough cheese to stretch a mile. Made at the front counter and on the table in about 10 minutes. The ham is super good and really fresh. I think they use honey ham. Good dough. Great crust. But what they had left over in the ready hot food display counter looked old. Probably left over from lunch. All in all I would definitely say take your food to go or order ahead and pick it up. At least you can eat it at home on a clean table.

With Valentine’s Day looming with 2 weeks to go, the panic sinks in. With our growing city the competition to find space for a reasonable time for dinner is near impossible. Not only where can I find a place that has an open table but where would they serve some remarkable food. Lightning strikes. Like a bolt of clarity streaking through the floating lists of doubtful suggestions, the soft glow of romantic lights bouncing off the tuscanny colored walls. I place a call and am delighted to hear that Francesco will be looking forward to having us at 7pm. My skin is saved! Space was extremely limited as there were many other couples as well as a large dinner party. Dinner service was a set menu and was surprisingly reasonable. Our first course was a charcuterie board. The portion size was just enough to share for two: buttery cheese nestled beside very fresh tasting olives and of course thinly sliced cured meat bode very well to how we will be treated tonight. Like clockwork, our pasta dish came next. We were served sweet corn agnolotti mascarpone butter. It’s true. I only understood I would be getting corn and butter. I’m not from the south but I love corn and butter. The pasta was extremely light to our surprise. The milky corn gave it a different twist which was new to our tastebuds and of course, the portion sizes was like crushing on your girl for the first time: you wanna call her back so badly but you really shouldn’t rush the whole experience. Less is more. The third dish threw me off in a good way: Hunter style chicken with white truffle oil potatoes. I interpreted the chicken with such fond emotions of an elder cooking something warm and heartfelt. It wasn’t sloppy but it wasn’t pretentious. It presented itself in all earnest. Is this dish the best dish you will ever have in your life? No but don’t get me wrong, This dish is the best of those ingredients coming together like that. I thoroughly enjoyed every drop of sauce even after depleting my shares of the tantalizing seared potatoes. Finally, dessert came as we’re enjoying the love of food. It was a pastry of nutella, cream cheese and raspberry. To quote Instagram quotes: «Say no more fam». The powdered sugar could not resist my face as the chocolate and raspberry met the cream cheese in my mouth. As always, Francesco came out to greet his guests and I had a wonderful time talking to him and his wife. TL;DR: One of the best Italian food experiences I had on Valentines day. Heartfelt food with perfect portions.

We came here for an event and were really surprised by the inside of this space. It’s big, and empty looking. There were children screaming and running around. They have a large eating area which looks like a low budget food court/cafeteria. Sacoomanno Bros offers Lunch and Dinner, and their dinner was something I was thinking of going to. Multi-Course, home made, and no picking the menu? Sounds heavenly to me. But the lack of décor for their eating area has me questioning coming here for that now. It may be because they don’t treat their eating area seriously because«Hey, you come here to buy ingredients» or «What you want something fancy? Sheesh we are in the Northside». (note neither one of these comments were ever made… the staff were all really friendly… I just imagined these thoughts) The greatest things I found 1. They have Anchovies packed in salt. That’s right, not only do they have anchovies in oil(which you can get anywhere) but they have the much harder to find salt packed ones. 2.Home made pasta: Delicious. I bought a big Samson Sized bag of Spaghetti and it was simply sumptuous. Here’s why only got 3 stars 1. No Orangina. What type of Italian place doesn’t have that? Fresca was the closest thing we found 2. No booze. I’m spoiled now by D’amores Mercato. I want a beer with my fresh pizza. 3. Strange shelves with«restaurant supplies not for sale» stuff all over it. Why is this stuff on display 4. Weak sauce. I bought the Veal meat sauce, and it was bland and thin. Never again. 5. No atmosphere in the eating area. Conclusion? I’ll come here again to buy fresh pasta in the area, but I don’t think I’ll be coming in for a dinner date . #yegyelp, #yelpyeg, #worsthermitever, #saccomanobros, #damoresmercato

Cannelloni has flavour – super plus. Most places are too bland. Good tasting house wine. Nice people. And awesome pizza. We will be back.

Great pizza. Lovely crust. Lovely couple/family owned business runs the joint. Great pasta specials. This is one of those family run no frills grocery store/cafeteria places. Its selection is a bit small. But you can buy homemade fresh pasta that tastes pretty authentic to me. The café serves pizza and pastas which are really good. The pizza can come by the slice but I like to order a freshly baked pie. They can customize it how u like and use the best quality cheeses and tomatoes. Its probably the closest pizza ive had since I was in italy. The only difference is the crust is a bit thicker. But I actually like it that way. I love the cheese pizza. I ask the owner to put some extra cheese to make it tastier and he never disapoints me with his choices. This place has replaced my need for famoso and their barely there toppings with burnt crusts which fall apart when u eat them. Basically a soggy mess I can do without. The pasta is great. Its hearty with plenty of cheese. The portion too large for me to ever finish. I think they have good lunch specials for less than $ 10 if you are in the area. Clientele seem to be regulars. Italians who socialize over coffees. And people like me who love great quality food for a decent price. Great service. Fast. Kid friendly. Best to try at lunch for freshness. And dont forget to buy some pasta on your way out!

Looking for amazing homemade pasta? This is your place! You can pop in for lunch. Take home fresh pasta to sauce up yourself. Or for a real treat, book in for the Friday and Saturday night family style dinners! Half the place is an Italian grocery filled with fabulously cured meats, mouthwatering cheeses, fresh as well as dry pasta, olive oils, Italian sodas, etc. And then the other half is a cafeteria style lunch shop with that days fresh rolled pasta like cannelloni, lasagna, shells, meatballs and other Italian comfort food. The family running the place will make you feel right at home. So pop in and don’t forget to finish off with a cappuccino!

This place is such a refreshing break from so many of the fast food chains, We have been going there for lunch for the past few years. The pizza and pasta offerings at Lunch are simple yet incredibly tasty. This is the kind of food that sticks to your ribs! Keep up the great work! Don H

Fresh pasta, awesome sauce, what else do you need? I tried two different type of pasta sauces both of them excellent. I also tried their slow braised short rib course, it is as good as it gets. I still remember the taste and cannot wait to go back there to try it again. On weekends they have a family style fix menu dinner. If I remember correctly for 5 course dinner the price is 35 $ which is fantastic. BTW, the family style dinner is reservation only. I highly recommend this place for a good hearty Italian feast with emphasize on the feast ;)

I now know what to expect from a home cooked Italian dinner. Six courses, 4 of which could have been a main entrée on it’s own all put together in a 3 hour extravaganza! The set menu was as large as the venue itself. The size of the antipasta course should have been a precursor to the marathon dinner we were about to embark on. A slice of handmade flatbread, two slices of cheese, two slices of Coppa(Capicola), and a sizable Arancini riceball garnished with 2 spicy olives cured in house. It’s a good thing our group of 4 were really hungry because this smoothed the edge off our hunger. This was followed by 2 rustic pasta courses. You could tell that both were made in house because handmade pasta is never cooked ‘al dente’. Coated in a rich cheesy sauce but also giving pops of brightness from green peas these pasta courses definitely filled us up. It was good to have a little break before the main entrée. Braised Beef Short Rib served with the bone can’t get any more rustic. The brightness to contrast the rich beef was brought by thinly slices pears and lightly tossed arugula. The pairing complimented each other perfectly. I was sad because the short rib serving was so large I couldn’t finish it all. You should never waste amazing local Alberta braised beef! To cleanse our palate we received a citrus sorbetto that was light and refreshing. I guess this could be considered the first of 3 desserts. The second was a doughnut style pastry with a dollop of Nutella. Great combination but the doughnut was slightly chewy and I couldn’t cut it with my fork so I just picked it up and took bites like I would a doughnut. There was also a carrot cake that wasn’t my favorite but I’ve never really liked carrot cake so maybe I’m biased. The food was amazing and plentiful but when you consider it only cost $ 35 you realize the true value of what you experienced. I’m not sure how much longer they will be able to give so much food for so little money but I’d urge you to go try while it lasts! Dinners are only on weekend evenings(Friday or Saturday) and you need to call in advance to reserve your spot.

We have dined here a few times and both experiences were excellent! Keep in mind this is more of a «fast food» Italian eatery, but don’t let that deter you. Everything is homemade including the delicious pasta. I always order the Frank’s Special pizza which is tremendous. The smallest one is plenty large for 1 – 2 people and don’t be afraid to order fresh tomato slices to top it off! My partner in crime ordered pasta dishes both times her and I were there and she had rave reviews… Which I consider qualified as she is Italian and has been to Italy several times. She knows her pasta! We also ordered the Italian salad which was delicious. It had fresh tomatoes and lettuce, onions, and a delicious dressing. Typical Italian food… not overly complicated but oh so delicious! Ambience is excellent. Go there during a soccer game and you will get the«Italian» experience. Awesome atmosphere and an escape from Edmonton… it was like being in Italy without actually being there! Owners and staff are top notch, friendly, and accomodating. The restaurant is extremely clean, and food is fresh. Our salad was made on the spot, as well as the perfectly cooked pizza. Pasta is made daily and does not disappoint. Portions are HUGE, be prepared to bring most of your meal home! Value for money is incredible. 1 – 3 people could share one pasta dish, they are so large. yummy! We will be going back soon, and we can’t wait!

Can’t go lower than 1 star. i walked in yesterday afternoon to buy some items and maybe a pizza. When I walked in one of the owners(?) who was working in the kitchen area blew his nose and didn’t leave to go wash his hands. I was totally disgusted and will never enter this establishment again!

I enjoyed the sandwich that was served to me here. Was it the very best sandwich that I have ever enjoyed? No, it wasn’t, but it was very good all the same. As a bonus, the husband and wife who run the place are delightful. Recommended.

So not only do they know Kramer but they have a great selection of imported Italian foods. They also have a hot food deli and pizza selection which is amazing. Not sure if they sell Rat Hats anymore or if they know Cosmo Kramer.

Personable service, vintage charm, decent selection of produce, pasta etc and lovely deli counter. I highly recommend trying the pizza, which I dare say is Edmonton’s best kept pizza secret.
