There’s just something about Mary Brown’s! I was introduced to them last year(I knew they existed, just never ate it) and yuuuuuum! The meal choices are fantastic and are exceptionally filling. I find their salads are way better than KFC and the prices are respectable. Quick and easy to satisfy the quick and dirty fried chicken craving.

Happily surprised by Mary Brown’s Chicken & Taters! Having never tried their food before, I was impressed by the quality of their fried chicken(not as greasy as KFC) and their taters! I ordered a 13 piece meal which came with a variety of chicken pieces(white and dark), plus a large serving of taters, gravy and either coleslaw, macaroni salad or potato salad for just under $ 40. All my coworkers who tried the chicken(all a first for them as well) remarked how good their chicken was and moist. I called ahead for the order and it was ready upon arrival. The customer service from the Marit, who helped me on the phone and also at the register, was super friendly and efficient! Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you’re craving fried chicken and taters! Oh, and their gravy is pretty yummy too!

I have to admit, I am a bit obsessed with fried chicken right now, but being an Australian expat, I miss fried chicken like we have back home… Mary Brown’s I would say is some of the best! Not to mention the friendly service! I was delighted to find it only a short way(and likely a little too convenient) from my house in Oliver Square, so delighted that I went back two nights in a row for dinner… their gravy and coleslaw is also fantastic. In fact, I think I will be picking up some chicken again tonight… Definitely worth checking out…

My husband and I FREAKEDOUT when we found out Mary Brown’s was opening in Oliver Square as for the last couple years we had been making the trek to their Jasper Gates location. What we love about Mary Brown’s is the variety they give you in terms of pieces of chicken. There are always several pieces of white meat along with the dark, unlike the«other guys»… where it’s all legs and thighs. I mean, for some guys, that’s their thing — but my hubby, he’s a breast man. The chicken is a little pricier in comparison to the«other guy», but the quality is just so much better. I find I feel more satisfied after eating at Mary Brown’s — and I don’t experience the grease sweats like I do with the«other guy». They’ll give you the choice of taters or fries… trust me, go with the tates. So tasty and filling. Their gravy is decent — nothing out of this world, but compliments the taters and chicken nicely. The staff here are also super friendly and easy going. We haven’t had a bad experience! Totally reccommended.

It doesn’t get any better for fast food! This place by far serves the BEST fried chicken. Don’t get fries, but make sure you get the taters, they are delcious! The food here satisfies a junk food craving but isn’t greasy feeling.

Guess what Oliver Square? Mary Brown’s is here! Located in the space that Bistro Saisons used to occupy, it’s so new that it isn’t even listed on their website yet. I only knew about it because I am often at the Safeway next door. In case you were wondering, they open at 11am on Saturdays :) It’s a small space but there are enough tables to seat probably up to 20 people. Service was reasonable considering I was definitely their first customer of the day. I really like their fried chicken — it’s crispy but not overly breaded like KFC’s, and it’s lightly seasoned, juicy, and just tastes like real chicken. And I don’t feel sick after eating three pieces in one sitting haha. They offer seasoned potato wedges(which are pretty tasty) in addition to fries(haven’t tried yet), as well as a bunch of add-on toppings for the fries. Beware — the poutine is not made with real cheese curds. For side salads they have potato, macaroni, or coleslaw. The coleslaw is vinegary and tastes remarkably like KFC’s but it doesn’t have that unnatural mint-green colour. I have to say that I don’t like their gravy as much as KFC’s — this one is quite dark, and very much tastes like it was made from a powdered mix. That being said, it was still excellent to dunk the taters and chicken in. Overall, I’m pretty happy that this location has opened. It’s not cheap but it exceeds my expectations for fast food fried chicken, so I’m sure I’ll be back!
