I am a fan of their prices, but not their store. I went in with a small list of items to get that weren’t out of the ordinary for groceries and walked out with a few items still needing to be bought. This store has a ton of ethnic food which is great for people looking for it, but not so great when I just needed some basics and couldn’t find a lot of them here. I won’t go back here.

Good neighbour store. However whenever there’s a sale it’s limited even though the ad says otherwise or there’s a restructuring croon to a type of flavour. Also certain cashiers have been observed to give better service to their friends, family or of their ethnic background.

This store can have some very good deals but you have to shop with a «buyer beware» attitude. I once bought a dip for chips that was expired by 3 weeks !!! A lot of boxed and bagged items have been expired and there is some questionable looking meat. Anytime they have chips, crackers or other types of deals it looks like it’s just dumped into a huge pin and of course the bottom items are crushed for example when chrispers are all on sale it just looks like staff through them into a huge food troft. The store is quite often dirty and staff are far from helpful. I’ve also found that customers there are pushy and rude. So, if you pay attention to what you are buying you can find some very good deals you may just have to sift through a bunch of crap to get to it.

The first thing that is going to grab you about this place is the amazing prices. I typically shop at the Londonderry Save on Foods and I was able to get what I would usually get from there for about half the price at No Frills. The store layout is kind of interesting. The Freezer case seems like a bit of a free for all(I found popsicles next to the frozen burgers). My biggest concern about this place would have to be a lack of stock. I went on a Monday night and counted three considerable gaping spaces on their shelves and a lot of other things were down to the bare minimums. I personally consider myself lucky to have gotten the third last two percent milk carton. This seems like a great place to shop if you are budget conscious but just make sure to try and make your trips earlier in the day.

I was going to give this store one star but they do have good prices so they get two. I’ve shopped at this store for the last year thinking I could put up with their services or lack their of because I was getting a great deal on the low prices. Recently I have had just enough. Their fresh produce(AKA veggies and fruit) suck! half the time its either rotten or almost rotten. I love berries and they always seem to have sales on them but 75% of the container is usually got bad, why should I pay for half(or more) rotten fruit? Yes I do check them over before I buy them which is why I don’t get any now(learned a lesson there once). Their raw Meat selection is almost ALWAYS empty, does not matter what time of the day or week I have gone, they never seem to have anything in stock in this area. Their canned/dry goods are always pretty well stocked. Their cashiers and other employees are nothing but flakes. Half the time they are(IMO) rude or try to avoid you all together. The few times I have asked for help locating and item I have had to chase down someone(almost literally). They made it very clear that I was«bothering them» with their tone and body language. Line ups from hell is the only way to explain what you should expect when you go to cash out. The only time I found it to be only 3 people in front of me in the line was at 10 mins before closing. Otherwise, your in a huge line up. They also NEVER run many tills, which would help with the line ups. The only I reason I will go there now is if I have a Rx to fill. Their Pharmacy, unlike the rest of the store, is GREAT.

The gas pumps at this no frills location had a card reader. The fraud dept at my bank said this specific location has been a problem for the last 6+ months. I will never go there again!

Some good prices, but actually quite messy. Seems like I stopped by here on busy day.

Thanks to Moses’ review, I decided to check this place out. I rarely go north of the Yellowhead to shop, but due to me being unemployed at the moment, thought I’d try someplace new and see if I could avoid multiple trips to Dollarama(for basics), Giant Tiger(for cheap meats and assorted other stuff), and H & W for produce. This was early on a Friday morning, and the crowds weren’t too bad yet. No Frills is obviously affiliated with Superstore, since they carry many of the same brands. I liked the way I could purchase multiples in a bag and save. So I scored several bags: 4 red peppers and a bag of Granny Smith apples were both reasonable, and a 10 pound bag of onions was $ 3. Considering how fast I go thru onions, that was a square deal. They had several items on sale while I was there. I appreciated the Gain detergent for $ 3, and some of the meat was on sale as well. I did well for the recipes I’d planned for the week, scooping up extra lean ground beef, several packages of chicken breasts for around $ 6 apiece, and a whole chicken for around $ 7. I was also able to stock up on plenty of basics. I was a little disappointed at the canned fruit selection, but the fresh produce made up for it. I like having canned fruit around, since fruit is free on Weight Watchers, and if I’m out of fresh, or it has gone bad, it’s sometimes easier than defrosting frozen. With the cautionary note from the husband to keep it around $ 200, I did remarkably well to come in around $ 205. That was until I remembered at the end that I’d forgotten my reusable grocery bags again, and had to buy more. The cashier took pity on me and let me have 8 for free, which was EXTREMELY appreciated. I always remember at the last minute why I’m not big on Superstore, and it’s the self-bagging concept. But she won me over with that kind gesture. I’ll definitely be back.

Just as an update: I was so perturbed by this apalling visit that I also wrote to the store manager. Andrea, who is the store manager, actually phoned me to let me know she had looked into the«situation» and dealt with those involved accordingly. She apologized profusely for my wretched experience and thanked me for bringing it to her attention. She clearly values having good customer service at her store, and I very much appreciated her phone call. Based on her phone call and sincere manner, I will be shopping here again in the future.

Driving by this No Frills grocery store and I thought I would pop in just to check it out. Its definitely a discount grocery store, most things are priced below average cost. But somehow I felt a little taken back by how unorganized it all seemed. Sure the isles are marked at the top, but Its just me. For one thing I couldn’t find the dairy section, I really had to look for the dog treats, and they never had any Hoisen sauce in the ethnic section. I found only a few items on my small shopping list. And to tell you the truth I really don’t know if I’ll make a special trip back here. It seemed a little odd, where there are empty box’s lying around in every isle. And help staff is very hard to find. I guess that’s why its called No Frills. They’re not kidding.(Just as an add in, they sell alot of President’s Choice Products)
