Joey’s Only Seafood Restaurants

I am not one to usually go for chain restaurants, but we were craving some fish and chips and we had an online coupon for this location of Joey’s. So we made the trek out east and tried it out.
This location looks and feels much like the one other Joey’s I’ve been to (in Red Deer, where a colleague there LOVES to go). It’s got your formica-​topped tables and booth seating.
The service was fast and efficient, even though we came later in the evening, as they were closing down one section of the place.
We ordered the Joey’s combo with fish and chips along with clam strips. My partner ordered the cajun combo. The fish and chips were fine. Better than many places, but not the best in town. The batter was tasty and crispy. The cajun combo was surprisingly better than we expected (this coming from a gal who grew up a mere five hours from New Orleans). Both the snapper and the shrimp were spicy (mildly so, by our standards) and flavourful.
Overall, the dinner was fine. I doubt we’ll travel that distance just to go there again. But it satisfied the fish and chips craving nicely. And if you happen to be in the area, craving fish and chips (or cajun snapper or shrimp), definitely check it out.
