Elite Event at Wunderbar

This was my first Elite event and to sum it up — I was impressed! What other social networking site rewards you with perks for simply using it? I love it!
I was a little nervous going, even though my hubby came along. My nerves were calmed when we arrived at the door to be greeted by Brittany (who, thankfully I recognized, and i think she recognized me from our profile pics). She was very welcoming, gave us an introduction to the event, tickets for two free drinks and lots of swag!
It took us a little while to mingle with the rest of the group, being fairly shy newbies, but once we did, met some great people.
The bartender was very friendly and when my husband asked about a particular beer he was interested in, he was very helpful. I also got the same helpful service. By the way, the beer selection was great (some unique ones) and regular prices were very reasonable.
The venue itself was a little less than desirable, as I’ve outgrown the «grungy» club atmosphere. The bathrooms were a little less than clean and grungy too. I would have preferred a little more «upscale» venue, but it wasn’t a major concern for us. We were distracted by all the free cupcakes, beer and swag! And, we discovered that beer and cupcakes do, in fact, compliment each other very well! Looking forward to the next event!

This was a nice casual event on a beautiful evening at one of my favourite watering holes. All the ingredients were there for a good time, including Flirt’s cupcakes, so it was bound to be a success and it was.
Had a ton of fun meeting some new Unilocaler’s and thanks for the evening out Brittany.

Another month, another great Unilocal elite event. :) Possibly the most casual of all the events, as there weren’t any contests or activities — just fun Unilocalers taking a break from Fringe-​ing or weekend events to chat about Edmonton and Zach Galifinakis being in town.
This business, like the last event, let it speak for itself. The beers on tap were local — Alley Kat, Amber’s, and Yellowhead Brewery, if I recall correctly — and according to my beer-​lovin’ husband, very very good. So good that he had several beers, and then my friend Paul bought another round of drinks once the free beers ended. :) And also amazing: the beer price was actually very reasonable despite being on tap! Shocking!
Also provided were a seemingly endless array of Flirt cupcakes, which were yum. My only complaint, if it it really is one, is I think I would’ve felt less guilty if ALL the cupcakes were the mini ones. It’s a lot to invest in one giant cupcake, heh. Still, I can’t look a gift horse in the mouth and my hubby’s office got a free dozen cupcakes the next day!
I think the only thing that takes away from the venue is that it gets really hot inside, so I’d encourage people to take advantage of the patio. Also, the tables are really sticky which I have mixed feelings about, haha. On one hand, it feels like a «genuine» gritty pub; on the other… ew, gross!
Another kudos for Brittany for organizing the event in such short notice, and putting together some deals for us for the neighbouring businesses.

This month’s Elite event was just perfect. The hot August sun warming us up at the Wünderbar while we chilled our bodies down with cold, cold beer and had a relaxed evening conversing with fellow Unilocalers. The music was good, the crowd was good and so was the beer! When we entered the place we were handed our passports and a couple of (playing) cards that we could use towards a beer-​on-​tap or shots/​highballs. The bar tender was very friendly and seemed to enjoy us Unilocalers hanging out out there.
Brittany did a great job bringing in those hand fans for us to fan ourselves (and at times our neighbors too) because it was one of them hotter days. Apart from beer, there were some cupcakes making their rounds around us, thanks to Flirt. They probably sent over about 5 – 6 dozens of cupcakes and in all varieties. I had 3 mini-​cupcakes but still found it too much to eat dinner afterwards.
I had a lot of fun drinking and chitchatting with people at this event! Can’t wait to be here at the Wünderbar again on Tuesday evening

This was my first time at Wunderbar and my first Unilocal event! The relaxed atmosphere was very much appreciated. Especially considering the warm, sunny, mellow weather. The free drinks were awesome, I haven’t had a gin & tonic in a long time! I also appreciated the cupcakes given to us by Flirt, even if I might not have enjoyed them as much as everyone else (yes, yes, I am picky, get over it.) The people I chilled with later that evening certainly appreciated the cupcakes I brought them!
It was pretty exciting to be able to go out and meet everyone. I really enjoyed just chatting with other Unilocalers. The passports are cool and I’m definitely using mine this week at a few places. Also, YAY for the paper fans!
Brittany, thanks for organizing the event! I look forward to more Unilocaly goodness in the future!

My first Unilocal elite event and I think it went pretty well. Free drinks, free cupcakes, free swag, a sweet venue and some swell Unilocalers. I’m just sad I had leave early. Thanks to Brittany and everyone else who helped put on this event. Looking forward to the next one, hopefully I’ll be be able to stay longer.
