Catch of the Day!

I won’t go there anymore… I bought a Groupon and went there last month. The customer service was super pushy. Products are overpriced and not even too good. Last week I got a phone call saying that I won the draw. I went back and found out that actually they were just using the price to push u to buy more things. The guy gave us a poster on which there were lots of promotion BUT when we tried to buy it, the guy said: u have to read it carefully coz there is a line on top in literally font size 6 saying «spend over $ 50». We were both choked at the pushy customer service they were almost trying to make us feel guilty not to buy from them! No more Groupon and no more catch of the day thank you…

Worst service i have ever received. I went to buy the Valentines Day special and they were sold out, I put a deposit down and they said it would be in on Monday. I got a phone call saying it didn’t come in but will Tuesday. Come today, I drove to Catch of the Day and they still hadn’t got their shipment. Im a bit upset but decide to look for something else to buy. The owner of the store shows me a package of lobster meat, no shell. Another customer comes in with a groupon! Since I don’t get a valentines deal I think the groupon is great! I tell the manager I will use my deposit and the groupon, the manager says «THE GROUPON IS NOT FOR YOU, it is for new customers not repeat costumers!» I tell him i am a new customer and have yet to purchased anything. I was completely shocked the groupon is not for me because i have stepped foot in their store once before. The manager, now upset, says that «[they] won’t make any money off the sale.» if i use the groupon. I tell the owner i have to make a phone call and when i come back the package of lobster i was going to buy is gone. The asian woman then tell me that they sold it over the phone (I DON’T BELIEVE THIS AT ALL). I say «can i speak with the manager?» to which the asian woman begins YELLING at me saying that i have to say please to her and that the owner is busy but he said IF I BUY THE LOBSTER FULL PRICE WITHOUT THE GROUPON THEY WILL SELL IT TO ME. Wow. When i speak to the owner he yells at me saying i’m greedy and only think of my wallet and not that he won’t be making money on my sale, he tells me he can refuse the groupon to whoever he wants and continues to yell at me. The worst part is i believe in supporting our community and fellow Albertans opposed to large corporation. I couldn’t believe the terrible service, being yelled at, lies and horrible salesmanship. Please, do not support people like this.

I actually got a call on Monday saying that the shipment didn’t come in that day as it was family day but they would get it Tuesday instead. Not once was I told it was back ordered, even when I was in the store and the only thing the owner had said was that they had no idea when it would come in and knew as much as me. So the first part of your response is already inaccurate. The owner did advise me not to purchase the Groupon, he said specifically that the Groupon was not for me as I had stepped into the store prior to buying it. I don’t understand why you would have a Groupon if you only lose money. I was attracted to come in by the valentine’s day special which I was no longer getting so I figured the Groupon deal would be nice. I never purchased the Groupon and did in fact step out to make a phone call so yet again, your response is inaccurate and not true. I’m very glad I didn’t buy the Groupon because the owner told me when I got back that he can and will refuse the Groupon to whoever he wants as «this is a free country». It wasn’t a matter of what I want or didn’t want. That is terrible salesmanship. You don’t sell something someone else wanted that is actually in the store because they are going to use a Groupon… Being yelled at by two employees is extremely rude. Not once did I yell or swear at them. I even had to ask the woman to lower her voice please. I shouldn’t have to do that. It hadn’t already been purchased, apparently someone «called» the store when I stepped out and asked to put the aside. What a coincidence when I was already told no if I get the Groupon and even more suspicious that they weren’t willing to sell it to me because of this other person BUT if I didn’t use the Groupon it was mine? I don’t understand that thought process. I don’t think going to buy my first Groupon is abusing the system. it’s not at all actually. I let the owner know I was going to post a review of my experience here which is fair for all to know and I am in titled to. When I told the owner I was going to write I review he started yelling! That I’m blackmailing him… that is not blackmail whatsoever. At this point it wasn’t about getting a deal. I didn’t want any of the product from this store and no longer wanted to give you any business. So that is rude and unprofessional to say in response. I’ll post the link to Unilocal where you can read different reviews. During that whole visit it was never about not getting what I wanted. I don’t get the lobster? That’s fine. The only thing I had a problem with is the selling underneath me because I was going to use a Groupon for my first time and being yelled at. It was never about me getting or not getting the product.

The seafood is very good and the prices are reasonable all things considered but we had a very bad experience with the owner of the store. He was very rude to us and we did not want to stay to give him out business.

Small local seafood store, not too big but has everything I needed. The staff are friendly and patient with customers. The seafood is not cheap but heh. it’s not cheap anywhere ;-) They DO have quite a few deals on a regular basis.
Lots of different seafood dishes, just need to put them in the oven. It’s great for people who aren’t particularly good at cooking (like me!!!)

Great customer service, freebies, wonderful seafood. Some fresh stuff, mostly frozen BUT whatever system they use to freeze, fish tastes fresh when cooked. Love this little place.
