B & A Bakery

This little bakery is a hidden GEM on the Northside. Shop Local!
I used to walk here with my Grandmother every Friday when she babysat me so it has nostalgia points, but also yum points.
The bread is really really good– way better than anything you find at safeway or superstore. And super cheap!!! My favorite items really are the donuts though, they are light and airy and taste amazing. After eating one, you will never eat one from Tim Hortons ever again. And that goes for the Donut mill in Red deer too.
I had forgotten how good home baked goods are! Fresh bread and fresh pastries with simple ingredients beat out anything from the bakery at the grocery store, there really is no comparison. And shopping local and supporting independent businesses are really important to me!

Great prices! Fresh breads. Lots of squares and cookies. The price cant be beat. Very affordable. Great tasting cakes are perfect and not overly sweet.
Wow a loaf of freshly made bread is 2.25. Cookies range from 0.75 cents to $ 1.00 for freshly baked yumminess that cannot be beat. This bakery mostly offers squares and cookies for their desserts and a wide assortment of breads. Ill come back for their fresh loaves as the quality is more superior to those mass produced breads at superstore or sobeys. And for $ 2.25 its the cheapest bread I know of In the city!!! Score.
They also do custom made cakes at very affordable prices starting at $ 15 for a 7 inch cake! You get to choose between german chocolate, red velvet, white, devils food cake and over 10 assorted fillings. They do have mini slices of cake available for $ 2.25 to $ 2.50 each as well. From all my sampling i have concluded that they are all really good. Not overly sweet with a nice phyllo crust bottom. I personally like the tiramisu, the caramel cake and the strawberry. For only $ 2.50 a slice. You can try them all. Lately i have really been addicted to these cakes. So cheap and better than most restaurants. I save dessert for when i come here. Especially when i know ill be driving by. Honestly it takes allot of willpower to drive past this place without stopping in. Its an extremely affordable delicious bakery.
Some bakeries i walk into and i end up buying a few items and end up spending $ 50 easy. Here i can literally get so much more and ive never had to spend more than $ 20. Its one of the best bakeries if you are on a budget. And they dont compromise at all on quality. Overall. Every item i had was not overly sweet but satisfied my sweet cravings without a sugar headache afterwards. Thats the highlight for me about this place.
My son says their cookies were very good and took his first bite and said mmmm. He does have high standards for cookies so im sure they were delicious. I had a few sweet cream cheese filled buns. Which were sweet and savoury and were quite yummy too. They were gone before I arrived at my destination.
Service is super fast. But ive found that theres almost always a line. Which is always a good sign.
Lots of parking. Its a few stores down from tim hortons. Its in a bit of a shady area in the northside of edmonton. But it is quite busy and i have never had a problem.
Get the cakes. Buy a box of cookies. Seriously a cheap indulgence that wont put a dent in the wallet and wont make you feel sick afterwards.

We had a german-​themed party (minus the lederhosen, sadly) for our homesick friend who’s here for school, and we decided to get some goodies to come to the rescue!
We picked up some good ol’ fashioned doughy Pretzels (they were huge!), meaty Sausage Rolls, a delicious (and beautifully decorated) Black Forest Cake and the tastiest Rum Balls I have ever had… which is odd because I remember not liking them before!
While our choices may not have been the most authentic, the attendant was really helpful with our picks and I can’t wait to go back with my friend to try a little bit of everything! :)

I stopped by B & A for a sweet treat. I was really in the mood for a chocolate chip cookie, but unfortunately, they only had peanut butter. They also had lots of Christmas sugar cookies and ginger bread men, but I felt like it was a bit soon to be indulging in holiday treats just yet.
Then I saw that they had «wagon wheels.» They were only 90 cents each and looked really good and chocolately, so I decided to get a couple of those. They ended up being very delicious. It was a bit different than the Wagon Wheels that you find in the store. Sandwiched between two shortbread cookies was a cream filling, and inside that cream filling was strawberry jam. The whole thing was covered in chocolate and topped with a small cream flower. It was really good.
This bakery also sells a variety of cakes, breads, and pastries. Everything is reasonably priced, much cheaper than some bakeries I’ve been to. Take note that B & A only takes cash, so be sure to check your wallet or hit the bank machine, before your show up!
