I’d say this is my favorite Subway(that I’ve tried so far in HRM), simply because it;s close to my place of work and It makes a quick and«healthy» supper afterwards on my way home. The employee who I often see there is chatty and nice. She seems to enjoy making the sandwiches. Recommended for a good subway sandwich.

Been making a lot of 1 star reviews lately. Feeling like I was on a negative down-spin. With most restaurants I have expectations. high or low. With fast food they are low, with the understanding the food is clean, well prepared and filling. Subway is no exception. Today I was pleasantly surprised. The sandwich was hot, vegetables were crisp and the bread fresh. In fact it reminded me of the early days of Subway back when they cared. Look at me waxing nostalgic about a sub shop. Good clean locale, fast, polite and professional staff. Great sandwich. See how easy that was? Well done Portland St. Subway. Will be back.

Can we all just agree that M&M cookies from Subway rock? Seriously, consistently delicious(thank you, mass production!) and great as a snack or a dessert for your meal. I’ve eaten in this Subway several times but I’ve never been overly impressed. Staff are generally friendly and definitely competent. The actual space itself is rather small — only a few tables. My biggest issue is how often they’ll run out of food. And at the oddest of times. Running out of bread on a Friday night at 6 p.m. or cucumbers on a Sunday afternoon at 3? It’s not every time but it’s happened enough that they’re losing one star for it. Still, there aren’t that many food options open past five all seven days of the week in downtown Dartmouth so they definitely get props for that.

Having had a bit of time to hang out on Portland Street on Thursday, I can personally vouch for the fact that there isn’t a single person in downtown Dartmouth who doesn’t trek to this Subway for lunch. With one-two people working it’s a pretty impressive operation. I’ll be sure to head in next time i’m in the neighbourhood with a hankering for my old stand-by: roasted chicken on whole wheat.
