Just recently took my piercing done a year ago out. It left some damage. I had to change out the piercing because I could tell they did not pierce it with the right size, seeing as it had no room for swelling. The bad piercing could be partly my fault, of course I’m the one that needed to take care of it, but my other piercings are perfect(done in other piercing shops…) Other than that, it was just not a friendly environment and it felt scarier than it needed to be for my first piercing. Employees didn’t speak much or explain much. My second ever piercing was just a month after that at a different piercing shop and it was a much more pleasant, educational and correct procedure.

I wanted to write an update of my review not because I was displeased with the customer service but because of the quality of the tattoo. Now that my tattoo is healed it is clearly uneven, thicker in some spots and thinner in others. Also the letter on my wrist was done so hard that is raised and has scar tissue that is painful to the touch. I have had the tattoo looked at by a few other local tattoo artists who all agree that it was done by someone who is inexperienced and I am now in the process of designing a cover up. I have yet to talk Dragon and Butterfly but I do plan on contacting the owner to discuss my concerns.

I had my first tattoo done here and I THINK it was Colleen who did mine??? I went with my boyfriend and friend who also got tattoos. My boyfriend also had his done by Colleen and my friend had hers done by… Bradon? so I feel like I can comment pretty well overall. I had to have my tattoo drawn up and she did a very nice job with it. However, she didn’t seem super friendly overall and I get the impression she doesn’t smile very often. I felt like if I was unhappy with something, she’d be ticked off if I mentioned it(but thankfully I was happy with the drawing, placement, and size!). The prices are very reasonable compared to other places, say, in the center of Halifax, but I feel like there is a reason for that. While I LOVE and am very happy with my tattoo it is not AS professional looking as other places. The lines are sometimes a little shaky or suddenly transform from thick to thin. Nothing major or super noticeable but worth mentioning. One thing that’s really great about this place is that they offer free touch-ups within 6months of getting your tattoo done(or at least they did back in 2010 when I had mine done). I actually had to take advantage of this(for a really faded portion of my tattoo), as well as my boyfriend(to fix an uneven portion of his tattoo that had been bothering him). My friend who also got a tattoo with us did not need to get hers touched up, and she had hers done by the guy(who seemed much nicer). All in all, this isn’t a bad place to go for a tattoo. It’s very clean and most of the people there seem pretty friendly. Although I have stated that the lines are not as clean as I’ve seen from other places, it’s not something you can really tell unless you’re looking for it or viewing it closer than anyone else would be looking at it. I’d probably go here again if I really wanted a tattoo and wanted to save a bit on cost. I’d just recommend avoiding the girl who works(worked?) there if possible. She’s not a bad tattooist or anything… just a weird vibe. Maybe that’s just me.

These people have no clue. Just stay away. Your tattoo will be fucked up and your piercing wont be placed right. I was dumb enough to get my first tattoo here, and a piercing years ago. The guy who pierced me was creepy and the woman who tattooed me didn’t disclose she had JUST started tattooing. She over worked my skin, caused scarring and all color fell out because of this. It’s also very blown out. I’m not the only example of this. I have a few friends who have tattoos from Dragon Butterfly that are just terrible. I wish I could give this place –5 stars. Remember folks, cheap tattoos aren’t good and good tattoos aren’t cheap. Always look at portfolios and shop around before you choose an artist. If you see someone who’s heavily tattooed and you’re wondering where they get their best work, don’t be shy, ask them!

The place is small but cozy and very clean. I went in to get my tongue pierced and I was very nervous but the piercer(Liz) made me feel relaxed and made a couple jokes before going over the procedure and care for the piercing. I’ve got a couple more piercings planned and I will definitely be going back here.

I have had a few of my peircings completed by this place and I must say that the service was wonderful. The man who does peircings there is very professional and well educated on the proper safty precautions that come along with something of a sensitive nature. Very reccomended :)
