I love this hotel
I always stay here for business in the area.
I like the courtyard/​entrance upper rooms and the patios off the rooms.
Love the beds and the linens.
Good WiFi and a 7

This is in town, so it has a busy liquor store and you can easily walk to a few malls. Personally, if I am going to the Island I like to feel as though I have «escaped». This did not provide that feeling. However, there is A/​C, patio with chairs & ashtray and Pantene in the bathroom. Now for some of you that may not make much of a difference, but honestly there is usually some no name crap in there that I find just makes you feel like you are going through the motions. Pantene… I like and my hair likes it. Get a premium room if you want nice new décor!

Let’s face it, Best Western is a known Budget Hotel/​Motel chain. Recently the have impressed and even wowed me with some of there properties; this one did impress me (mostly).
When we pulled in the property looked fresh and new. The courtyard includes separate, newly built 3-​storey unit, main building, Pub/​Eatery (Flying Canoe [see me review]) and liquor store (we are teetotallers so no benefit). Parking up front is skimpy and fills up with Pub and Liquor store patrons but there is lots of parking around the rear and some is semi-​covered.
The Lobby is up-​beat and service is warm and friendly but not as efficient as I (just me) would like. My reason; I stayed on vouchers (a.k.a free) and while in the room after checking in I was called back to the front desk to resolve and issue with the vouchers; the number was rejected. When I arrived back at the front desk the clerk re-​input the voucher number and «Hmm, it works now». Great, but I would have liked it if you tried 3 – 5 time before calling me back like I was trying to dupe the hotel; again just me.
«Plus» — We were upgraded to a superior room. Reason, «Free-​night might as well have the best room». SAA-​WEEET!
«Plus» — We received free breakfast coupons for the night we stayed; even though the rooms were free too. SAA-​WEET!
«Plus» — The bed was very comfortable and the room clean, neat and the shower (no tub) was awesome (room for two)
«Plus» — Here is where great service exceeds good service. Both nights there were high school sport teams staying at the hotel. We were strategically place in the new, separate 3-​storey unit away from the noise and bustle of the teams. Well, done!
«Almost Plus» — Breakfast buffet was fresh, cooked on-​site but serving area was limited compared to the amount of customers that were there. Small point and it was free, saving us $ 25 – 30 for breakfast somewhere else.
I will stay here again.

I loved this place, it’s outstanding. The hotel itself is super nice. The rooms are comfy, clean and spacious.
Perks include a liquor store attached to the property. They have nightly specials in their lounge, including live music and DJs, depending on the day of the week. I wasn’t able to check the lounge and their offering of the night out but the option is still greatly appreciated.
The staff was attentive and all around awesome, a door alarm went off and it was attended to immediately after a quick call to the front desk. I’m absolutely impressed by the entire experience, I can’t wait to go back.

This was a great business hotel to stay at! The beds, sheets, and pillows are clean and very comfortable. There’s a nice flat screen TV, as well as a mini fridge and microwave. The internet can be slow at times, but at least it works.
I could hear the people walking around in the room above me, but other than that it was not particularly noisy. The breakfast buffet that was complimentary was plentiful and delicious with sausage, full chunks of potatoes as hashbrowns (yum!), bacon, eggs, a waffle machine, as well as fresh fruit, yogurt, and pastries.
There is a drugstore right beside the hotel, and a Safeway across the street. A great stay, and will be back the next time I’m in Courtenay!
